When we got turned away at Nok's Kitchen, we were recommended over here to Street Box. (Just a note…read moreI have noticed is that almost all the restaurants in Stockbridge need reservations as they are all fully packed with no chance of walk-ins). Luckily enough, Street Box offers a back-up alternative even though it is meant to be a take-away spot. Nonetheless, they still offer one communal table with a couple stool at the window still for those who want to dine-in. The menu is extensive with all types of Thai cuisine ranging from curry to rice and noodle dishes. my go-to Thai dish is a Pad See Ew, which was not on the menu but the waiter told me they could make it for me off menu --what a wonderful thing to hear! He was very friendly with our group as well. The only problem was that everyone else in my party got their food except me only to find out that they forgot my order. The waiter did notice right away and assured me it would be out within minutes. Although I was a bit upset, the food made up for it. The off menu Beef Pad See Ew (£8) was very flavorful and delicious. The noodles and vegetables were seasoned very well. The dish did use a thinner, dried rice noodle (used in Pad Thai) instead of a flat, wide rice noodle. They also did not skimp on the spiciness, which I appreciated since Thai food is meant to be spicy. Overall, affordable and delicious Thai food that is great for take-aways. The space had a hipster and eccentric vibe with unique Thailand decors as well. This is a great go-to spot whenever you're craving Thai food.

This quote superbly describes this past week, as I skipped past, smushed my face against the window and all out stalked their website waiting for Ruan Siam's new sister restaurant Street Box to open. Did I learn about this little spot because I was taken aback when Ruan Siam was closed for a week during the launch? Yes. Was a week without thai take away worth it to have this little outpost right around the corner? Heck to the yes. The Lazy Gal default setting is strong in this one. Here's what we know so far: This tiny (and I mean TINY) place is run by the same folks that own Ruan Siam just up the street. They have expanded the menu and offer delivery between 6pm - 10:15pm seven days a week. They have one picnic style table and bench seating to sit in. It's small but they've done a good job with the space. They have quick meal boxes for those looking for great lunch take away in the area and are open in the afternoons. The new menu items like Pad Kee Maow (spicy rice noodle stir fry with Galangal, lemongrass, chilli and mixed vegetable) are deliciously on point. Their curries are still as bad ass as they were when Ruan Siam was dishing them out. I will be here ALL the time. More options for great thai food? Win.

They never seem too busy and our order was delivered within 40 minutes on a Friday night. They have a good selection of sushi and maki which includes a few veggie options and friends who had had the fish say it's good and fresh. Where they really excel is the cooked food, it comes in beautiful dishes, well presented and the udon came with the broth in a separate pot so the noodles didn't go soggy. My favourite dish is Tori Curry also known as chicken katsu curry. It's super tasty and a huge portion. I think I've ordered it three times now.

Edinburgh and 2. A delivery place! I've now ordered twice form here and recieved really good quality meals each time, that were packed carefully (with a fair bit of thought) and arrived quickly. I ordered via a centralised ordering website that has a phone app, not directly, but have spoken to the staff on the phone (they wanted to double check a delivery time) and would say that online ordering ordering is probably the way to go. So, the food. I've ordered a range of sushi - mango maki, tuna maki and salmon maki which arrived in individual boxes each with wasabi and ginger and were really good fresh quality. My chilli tuna salad was a bit hotter than I'd thought it would be but was delicious! Previously I ordered the seabass special, which came with rice and some pretty/tasty garnishes. What really sells me on this place is the miso. You know good miso? Yeah, it's amazing. And this place does good miso that is filled with plenty of nice bits! My go to for when I want sushi, but have no intention of putting on pants.

Most reviewers had…read morethe pasta dishes, and while I do agree that the price is a bit high for pasta take-away (versus sitting in at Vittoria right beside Eatalias) I'm not sure the establishment deserves to be marked down for that. Especially since you have the choice to go elsewhere rather than pay that price for pasta. Nonetheless, everyone is very well entitled to rate on what is important to them. For myself (and 7 year old son) we like the pizza. Scratch that, we loooove the pizza. I've never ordered the pasta and have very rarely tried the chips (think they were a tad soggy the last time) but this review will be just on the pizza and service, which I think both are great! Eatalias is practically on my doorstep and I've been going here every other week for 4 years. They've certainly earned my patronage as they are always warm and welcoming when we come in. They are a family run establishment and are just always so cheerful and ready to ask my son how he's doing. We never order big, as it's just the two of us, but that never detracts from the service we get. Prices - very good. We order a 12" or 16" half margarita half pepperoni which is always between £8- £12. In my opinion this is very well priced considering Dominos or Pizza Hut always end up being around £20 for the same. Maybe is because we go in to get it but even so. Quality - I've never been disappointed by a pizza here. The crust is a thin Italian base and they always use fresh ingredients. I personally do not enjoy thick crust pizza so it's to my tastes. Sometimes more cheese and less sauce is needed but after 4 years and that's my only complaint. I love many of their other pizzas with some delicious toppings (sadly the boy doesn't like veggies on a pizza!) and even better some super spicy ones. All in all I'll continue to get my bi-weekly Friday night pizza from here...until I move perhaps. Perhaps not! I would say you wouldn't be disappointed by ordering a pizza here, but everyone has a particular taste for pizza. But it's far better than Dominos or Pizza Hut!!! PS - they have Gluten free crusts now and I believe they are part of Taste of Italy.

I was out this morning, and noticed their beautiful display of cakes. I love cake, and so going in here was a very easy decision! Entering the shop, you're surrounded by a plethora of different cakes and baked goods. It really is a feast for the eyes. I was wanting a snack, and got myself a couple of shortbread biscuits, spending a total of £1. I was greeted with a cheery smile from the server, which is always great. Like so many small shops, they clearly take great care with their customer service. I can foresee a lot of visits here to sample their range of cakes. According to their website, they also do outside catering, which if their shortbread is anything to go by would probably be very tasty. The food on offer from here is not only pleasing on the eye, but also very tasty. What is harder to notice about this shop is that it also does a whole lot more than cakes. Available at fairly reasonable prices are also portions of puddings, soups or meals which you won't regret buying and which are cheaper, and some might argue better, meals than you could get at any takeaway.

Even stepping foot into this place makes me feel healthy enough to justify cake for supper…read more I'm not going to lie - i'm not a healthy eater. But hailing from the city of all things organic (Vancouver), I like to play the part that I am. Somehow, having an open bag of chia seeds in the house, that I occasionally remember to throw into smoothies when I occasionally remember to MAKE smoothies, makes me feel less guilty about eating Corn Flakes for dinner while I'm slogging through emails. This makes me an adult right? That doesn't mean that the act of buying a meal that doesn't look like it was constructed by a five year old, doesn't tickle my fancy - I love nothing more then following up a Corn Flakeian dinner with a good ol' fashioned organic almond yogurt. Life is about the balance. I also have a deep seeded belief in only using biodegradable and clean house hold products. So when i'm not doing the best in my personal well being - at least i'm looking after the planet as a whole. This place ticks off a few major factors in my strange collaborative idea of "healthy living". First off, it stocks an impressive array of house hold items and is one of the first places i've found that carries multiple lines of personal care items - from Burts Bees to good for ya toothpaste - it was a one stop shop for both my washroom & under the sink. Secondly - it stocks pretty much everything you need to justify future unhealthy meals. From organic quinoa to virgin, cold pressed coconut oil, it's simply screaming: look how healthy you are?! Why yes, you can eat ice cream for dinner! But as many a person as said - living healthy (or in my case, buying excuses) can be pricey. What I will note, is as a newly landed expat, this place IS cheaper than the haunts back home and for that i'm thankful, but compared to the digs you can pick up elsewhere - yes, it's going to cost you an extra dollar. My tip if you fear the price tag? This funky little blue and green ball we're living on needs all the help it can get. If you can't stomach the whole nine yards of good food organic, pare it down. Spend the extra £1 for your dish soap, laundry & shampoo and keep the nasty stuff out of the drains. Then stock up on the hard to find items, or the ones you use frequently and leave the bits & bobs for a cheaper place. Nothing is better than proper, virgin, organic, cold pressed olive oil. Nothing. Will definitely be popping in here time to time to stock up on the must haves. If I could track down a spot to buy E3Live in town, i'd have all my cake justifying staples back in place.

Today I ordered Chicken Pasanda and Chicken chat- both very mild dishes and they turned out VERY salty. So I called them up and told them that. In response the man who spoke to me says, 'I am very busy serving ten customers now, call me tomorrow' when I asked what they would do about it, he replied vaguely that he would, 'give me something for free next time I ordered' and cut the call. EXCUSE ME. What does that even mean? But never mind. An hour and half later, I get a call, with the same man calling to tell me that he has called his old customers and none of them think the chicken pasanda is salty and therefore he is sorry but he just can't believe it. then he says, I should have had the food and called him and not an HOUR later since then he could have sent us another dish. EXCUSE ME AGAIN. TWO responses to this nonsense: You call me at ten twenty at night and basically tell your customer that she is lying because your passband can NEVER be salty. INSTEAD OF APOLOGISING you demand why I didn't call you at once? Is there a RULE I don't know that says customers need to EAT their take aways IMMEDIATELY? I ate when I did and I called when I could not eat YOUR FOOD. I would also like to point out, I DID NOT ASK FOR ANOTHER CURRY OR A REFUND. HE then (shouting by now) says, He knows all about me and the fact I complained at Suruchi too. WTH. Even if I did complain, what does that imply? That I go around complaining to places I order food from? Which I don't, but the question is, you almost threatened a customer. WHO TREATS THEIR CUSTOMER LIKE THAT? 1. you are lying. 2. Didn't eat it on time so your fault. 3. you do this all the time (i.e. complain). DOES THE SALT RISE AS THE HEAT DECREASES? I do not understand how you run your business. It's all friendly till someone dares to complain?
