Falafel appetizer

Passing through Bridgeport and this popped up as the highest rated lunch spot. I was not sure what to expect. The restaurant staff was very friendly, and the ambience is certainly unique with plenty of seating. They also came over to the tables and gave us free refills. The falafel appetizer was nicely fried and a pleasant aroma filling. The tzatziki sauce was nice as well. The gyro combo with fries and drink came out to $15. The food all tasted very fresh including the fries, all made to order. Great spot, would come back.

Half portion of the Greek Salad.

I love Mediterranean cuisine, so when I located Ali's close to our hotel, the decision where to go for dinner was a no brainer! I was not disappointed. Both my husband and I had gyros, lots of meat in a soft pita. The staff at Ali's were really accommodating. When I asked about getting a Greek side salad, they offered a half portion. As described in another review, the Greek salad, nicely seasoned, is all veggies, a little lettuce, and lots of crumbled feta cheese. The only downside, no Greek olives. The half portion was very generous, filling the 8" square container. If I get to Bridgeport again, I would definitely return to Ali's.

Service and food were top notch. We live in the Columbus area and this was very good. We had the Chicken kabob salad and a gyro.

Such a nice change from the typical cuisine in Clarksburg. The hummus is amazing and the chicken was some of the best I've had.

Tasty meats and crisp veggies on a pillowy pita. Hot crinkle fries and refreshing lemonade were a perfect complement.

I ordered a Street Gyro, which is served with potato chips and one's choice of a homemade side ($10.99). The gyro featured charbroiled shaved beef and lamb, sliced tomato, red onion, and Taziki sauce on a griddled pita. Potential sides include basmati rice, roasted new potatoes, fresh-cut fruit, pasta salad, tomato cucumber salad, grilled veggies, or double chips. I selected the tomato cucumber salad. (Note that you can also replace the chips with any of the mentioned sides for a reasonable up-charge (under $1). While I usually enjoy gyros, I was somewhat disappointed with the Street Gyro from Taziki's. The meat was in small pieces, and too charred and dry for my personal taste. Also, I prefer a gyro that has more vegetables (and especially lettuce and cucumbers). I did add the cucumbers and some more tomatoes from my side salad to the gyro but I still missed the crunchiness of lettuce. Next time, I would also upgrade my meal by substituting one of the healthy sides for the chips. The meal was a good value for the amount of food received. I would order take-out from Taziki's again if I needed a quick lunch.

The hospital in Parkersburg gets a shipment of blood from Columbus six? days a week, I believe. I'm trying to take this route once a week. And when I'm done with my delivery and before I head back to CBUS, I'm going to stop at Chams for lunch. It's not someplace I'd expect in downtown small-city WV, though maybe I'm just prejudging. Probably just prejudging. But it's a very Lebanese place. Nary a French fry in sight. But a nice long menu of middle eastern street food for lunch. Seriously yummy wraps, some salads, a few other things, and baklava. I've been twice. First time, I got the spicy wrap. Excellent. Very tasty, multifaceted flavors; each bite something just a bit different from the last. Just a little heat, nothing like Thai or Szechuan. Your spouse should be able to handle it, but they'll make a surprised noise for the first couple of bites and their nose may sweat. My second trip's lunch was shawarma wrap. Same yumminess, different flavors; no heat. Both were five stars. Also got baklava, one for me, one for my wife because she'd be able to smell the honey and walnuts on my breath when I got home and be very cross if I didn't. We both thought it was very good, if not quite amazing. Second trip I came home with Chams' cream cheese baklava. It's different - a big hunk of, well, cream cheese instead of walnut filling, but still wonderful sticky gooey honey on top. I thought it was very good again, but it wasn't to my wife's taste - just too much cheese for her. Each to their own, right? They also have pistachio baklava, and each kind comes in either filo wrapping or birds-nest style. I love both. The store is clean. Parking on the street nearby isn't much of a challenge when they open at 11AM. The staff is VERY friendly and all speak with just enough accent to be charming yet perfectly understandable. They want you to enjoy your food, and I did. I'll be back. Go there.

One of the biggest reasons we chose it was because they advertised a dog-friendly patio. Before being seated, my husband specifically went inside to speak with the hostess because rain was expected soon. The hostess acknowledged the forecast, and my husband said we were completely fine sitting under the patio umbrellas as long as the restaurant was okay serving us outside. She assured us that it was not a problem. We were seated on the patio and intentionally looked through the menu quickly because we wanted to minimize the server having to come outside in the rain. When the server came out, she immediately commented about the weather and was clearly upset about having to serve the patio. We were sympathetic and tried to be as easygoing as possible. What happened next was honestly bizarre. She pulled out her notepad and just stared down at it without saying a word. We ordered drinks and then sat there in silence waiting for any kind of acknowledgment or follow-up like, "What would you like to eat?" After about 15 awkward seconds, she finally looked up visibly irritated. I ordered, she wrote it down without saying anything else, and then stormed back inside. At that point, we decided we no longer felt welcome. We brought the waters back inside and told her she could cancel the order. Her response was simply, "Are you sure?" The entire interaction consisted of maybe six words total from our server. We later called to let the manager know what happened. While they did apologize, the only solution offered was for us to place a to-go order instead. That completely missed the point. We weren't looking for free food or special treatment -- we just expected basic hospitality after being explicitly told they were happy to serve the patio despite the weather. This entire situation could have been avoided if the restaurant had simply told us upfront that patio service during the rain was an issue.

We were quoted a 20 minute wait, but it ended up being over 45 minutes, and there were multiple other customers asking questions about their lengthy waits as well. The gyro on a stick was the best - it was great to have a simple option for a reasonable price. The gyro meat came with a flatbread and was very tasty. The staff was friendly. They're generous, personally engaging, and have left me with a yearning for loukaniko (Greek sausage) that I haven't been able to satisfy anywhere else (or even from the truck, currently, due to sourcing frustrations.) Their spinach rice side is excellent, the meats and feta are consistently delicious, the tzatziki sauce is stellar, and the baklava cheesecake is just this side of deadly rich. This would be a five-star review if it wasn't for a persistent issue of no-showing at places they've said they will be. Like, 10 a.m. their Facebook page will show them as scheduled to be at a particular location, but at 11 a.m. when they're supposed to be on site, they're nowhere to be seen, and there's no explanation or response to inquiries. This means that I can't reliably plan to have lunch there when I'm downtown at the office -- I have to pack a lunch either way, or find something elsewhere if they're MIA. Bottom line is - if you spot them someplace, absolutely TRY THEIR FOOD. But don't get too attached.
