I have seen one chiropractor in the past and it was a great experience; granted, it was a friend whom I trusted (and he did a great job!). Luckily, that made me less apprehensive about seeing a chiropractor again and when I moved out of the city, I needed to find a closer office to visit. I've always had tension in my shoulders/neck area, pain and tightness in my lower back, and after a stint in the hospital for esophogeal problems, tightness and pain in my middle back. I avoided it for months, but when the pain got bad enough, I bit the bullet, checked yelp, and made an appointment. I am very glad I did! All three doctors at the practice are not only professional, but very nice. Each visit, they ask how all of the patients are doing. The set- up may seem unconventional to some, with tables out in the open, but its actually very helpful. Some patients have questions, and the others get the benefit of hearing the answer. Ofcourse, if you ever felt uncomfortable and wanted a private room to be seen, there are areas for that. They do anything to make you comfortable. I felt a great benefit from treatment and I will continue to see them on a regular basis for continued maintenance. One thing I always disliked about people who have sought chiropractic care and did not see the benefits, is that more usually than not, they went once or twice. There is no magic cure when something is really wrong. If you have something really wrong, its going to take more than one or two quick adjustments to right a lifetime of wrong (and they can help if you allow them to do so!). But if you had a quick tweak, its a great idea, too. You don't have to go through a whole long treatment process. See them a few times, or multiple times a week for months... depending what is wrong, they can help. And if there is not anything wrong, maintaining proper adjustments has also shown to be very beneficial! So, for someone that is against many chiropractic offices, I give 5 stars to this one. You will receive treatment from all three of the doctors throughout your time here, and all are friendly, professional and effective. If you are on YELP! looking for a chiropractor, you are already questioning it, so you may as well just give it a try!

For years, I have struggled with low back pain, ADHD, anxiety, mood swings and periodic bouts with acne. Dr. V literally helped me eliminate or control ALL of these problems. The treatment has been so good it is hard to describe. The biggest issue that I thought would dog me the rest of my life was attention deficit disorder. I tried managing it with medication, but the meds came with tons of side effects, including a surreal, "distant" groggy feeling. So, I periodically tried getting off medication, but it was extremely difficult. At work, I remember sitting in a meeting feeling like it was torturous to try and sit still in my chair. I spent almost every minute trying not to leave the room because I was fidgety. So, with or without medication, this was a terrible thing to struggle with and I figured I would have to deal with it the rest of my life. Then I was treated by Dr. V. After my first treatment, I felt more relaxed than I had ever felt in my whole life. It was like the calmness of being on the meds, except way better-- all natural and with no side effects. I followed Dr. V's dietary advice and kept receiving treatment. Amazingly, the ADHD symptoms are completely gone and have been for a few years (when I started treatment). I take no medication and have no need for it. I feel better than I ever have in my entire life. Additionally, other symptoms, like anxiety, have been drastically improved as well. I feel more empowered and in control of my life, not like a victim of health circumstances. Recently I was thinking about all of the positive personal milestones that I've achieved over the past few years. Most of them can be attributed to this care. Here's what I mean: when you have a good base of health, you're able to invest better in other areas of your life. You can be more effective and productive at work, you can be more patient with family members, more invested in relationships, and just a better overall person. After a whopping $125 adjustment + "diagnosis," (conjecture) I found they weren't going to be able to run this charge through my health insurance. After having to pay out of pocket, I called the insurance company who they said they still had an active contract with Josh. I started going back and forth over email where they explained that there was no possible way to run the payment through Josh's contract, and so kindly recommended that I involve a third party service that, "could, potentially, cover out of network claims. But, they also might not." In frustration I said sarcastically, "it's nice to know your company cares," and left it at that. Shortly after, I received a call from Josh who said he saw the emails and offered me a free adjustment. As kind as that was, I don't know what happened in that free adjustment, but I ended up feeling so much worse for the next few days. I'm a bit more familiar with the healing process of back pain by now, and it's not beyond me that sometimes you can be in pain from the adjustment for a few days after, but this felt different. He offered to put me on a regiment of, "$60 per visit, probably a couple times a week? That's when we can really start the actual healing process, does that work for you? Okay good, that is as low as I could possibly make it." Instead, I went to a different chiropractor out of pocket, for a fraction of the price I previously paid, and got immediate/lasting results. There's something to be said about the care I received having an impact of the efficacy of the next chiropractor's work, but in my experience I've often left adjustments feeling generally better than before I came in. Following the two adjustments I received over the span of a week and a half, I can't say I ever really got that feeling. Overall, I would not recommend the treatment I received, and especially not for the price at which I received it.

However, nothing else happened after that (all the other places I have been before got the X-ray results right away and, based on that, they performed some adjustments). I was sent home and left waiting in pain for another week (my availability and their schedule were conflictual), only to be told at the second appointment that they had a treatment plan for me, which is fine -- costing over $1,000 after the insurance-- without having provided a single session of actual therapy. They insisted I either pay the full amount upfront or commit to a payment plan, and when I asked why I couldn't simply pay per session, I received a vague, unhelpful answer. I also asked for a copy of the treatment plan and was only allowed to take photos of it with my phone -- no printouts, no email. As a conclusion, after two weeks, I left with the same pain I came in with, and no treatment whatsoever. I've since started seeing a different chiropractor who is actually helping and allows pay-as-you-go, which is how it should be. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Oak Brook Medical Group.
