The ortho doctor I saw several times for this problem first injected cortisone into the shoulder which, when I awoke the next day, caused the worst pain I had experienced since the onset of my problem. Subsequent visits with the ortho guy and a MRI outlined my only option to be surgery even though the ortho guy was uncertain exactly what would be found during surgery. Being that I had arthroscopic surgery on the left should several years ago with this ortho doctor and have never felt 100% healed, I opted to try an alternative method of treatment. Jim and Valley Acupuncture came recommended to me by my masseuse so I thought...why not? I saw Jim each week for several weeks and then bi-weekly for another few weeks from March to May of 2014. I am happy to say that while I am not completely and totally pain free, I am as close to it as I believe will be possible given my activities and my age (late 50's). Prior to seeing Jim, I woke many times during the night with tingling and a heaviness that caused severe pain in my right arm. Since being treated by Jim, my nights are free of pain and free of the heavy feeling that I experienced prior to my visit to Valley Acupuncture.
