You look up, the air is so thick you can actually see the droplets of water in the air. At least five people per class drop, a couple leave. This is not the Navy Seals. This is YogaSix. I've been practicing hot yoga for over ten years, all across the country. This studio by far exceeds the temperature of any studio I've visited. Quite frankly, I think this place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. New yogis trust their instructors to keep the room at a safe temperature. That isn't happening. The heat vents are aimed at the face. The instructors don't try all that hard to control the room conditions. The series itself is great. I was actually excited when I first signed up. It was nice to finally find a studio that could be counted on to have a complete and balanced series. They don't take shortcuts and I know I'm going to have a full practice. The first couple of classes I attended has instructors who kept the room around 106 degrees. My excitement died after my third class once the temperatures were set higher, and it hasn't returned since. The classes are just too hot and humid. Despite complaints daily from various customers, the owner and instructors don't seem to want to change anything. I won't be continuing my practice at YogaSix once the time I've paid for ends. Yoga is supposed to leave you feeling better when you are done with class vs. when you arrived. Instead, I leave class completely drained. I used to go to yoga 6-7 days a week, prior to joining YogaSix. I now drag myself there about 4 times a week. It's just too difficult to keep my mineral levels where they need to be, given the amount of sweating that is done in every class. Not a single person in the room isn't drenched at the end of class. Just go sit outside the studio when class is over and watch people walk out. You'll see I am in no way exaggerating the experience. I couldn't be more disappointed.

The Vibe: The Still Point One room. Curtains drawn…read more A little daylight seeped in. The outside world had not disappeared. It simply softened. The Guide: Allison Frazier * Vinyasa Flow We began in Malasana. A gentle sway. Then stillness. The studio's earlier practice had focused on Shakti: movement, energy, creation. Now, the focus turned to Shiva: pure awareness, the consciousness beneath it all. Allison invited us to set an intention. If nothing arose, she offered: So Hum. I am. Something arose immediately: I am clarity. Then we moved. Slowly. From all fours, one leg extended. Hands walked forward. The body bowed. Breathe. The other side. Breathe. We gradually climbed toward standing and began to flow. At first, frustration surfaced. Annoyance. Surprise at both. The pace was unfamiliar. I didn't know what was coming or where we were going. Without momentum, there was nowhere for patterns to hide. And yet... the breath remained steady. The room held its warmth. Allison's guidance held the way. This is one of yoga's quiet powers: It creates the space to notice what arises without having to become it. Irritation was present. Peace was present. Neither canceled the other. I could hold both and keep moving. Eventually, resistance gave way. Allison guided us slowly and steadily, weaving So Hum back and forth across the mat. Standing Bow became Airplane, not through momentum, but through attention. Let go of judgment. Let go of expectations. Surrender. Be here now. Pose. Breath. Stillness. Movement. "Beautiful," Allison would say when we arrived. Not necessarily when the pose was perfect. When we were there. The Sound: A meditative soundscape shaped by mantra and South Asian contemplative traditions. Near the end, peppermint drifted through the room as the music carried its own message: I honor the consciousness within. The Space & Place: Red Yoga is essentially one open room: the entrance, cubbies & practice area sharing one sanctuary. Mirrors. Dark wood. Soft curtains. Warm light. Small contemplative figures listen, look inward, and offer reverence. Summary: Allison closed by honoring the place within where the entire universe resides. The practice had made room for all of it: movement and stillness, irritation and peace, our patterns and the awareness witnessing it. When we meet in that place, we are not separate. We are one. Field Note: Stillness was not the absence of movement or emotion. It was the awareness that remained while everything else moved. Practical Notes: * Small, warmly heated room (85-90°F). * Classes run about 60 minutes. * Beginner-friendly. * Cold wet towel at the end of practice. * Aromatherapy. * Bring: Water, a mat (rentals available), and patience for a slower pace if you're used to momentum-driven flow.

Another lovely class... this time a workshop: Holy Yoga. Very cool. The owner, staff & attendees…read moreare all friendly & all ages. Note the the classes are held in a heated space- warm but not hot hot

Then another car. Then another. Soon, yogis were streaming inside. I learned Angela was the owner. She came from Washington and brought her passion for yoga and creating spaces for it with her. ~ The Guide: Angela * (Heated) Vinyasa We began on our backs. Breath first. Then small movements to open the body. There was something else in the room: Peppermint. Angela connected the scent to mental clarity, the crispness of winter... think candy canes and digestion. Then: Wind-Relieving Pose. Also digestion. That'll stick. Then we began to move. Angela reminded us the practice was a dance with our breath. So we danced. And then we played. Crow. Bird of Paradise. Standing Bound Garland. Forearm Stand. Eventually, the dance brought us back to the floor. Angela thanked us for showing up for ourselves and for each other. Iron sharpens iron. Then a cold, wet towel was pressed firmly into my hand. Oh. Yes. Savasana. ~ The Tribe: After class, I bumped into Angela in the bathroom. As one does. We started talking. When she moved to Idaho, it took time to find the space and the people. Then Balance Hot Yoga opened its doors. ~ The Plot Thickens: Angela's son found an abandoned dog at a gas station and brought her home. A few days later, they learned she was pregnant. Suddenly... puppies. The litter connected them with Upward Inertia. And now... Pop-Up Puppy Yoga. ~ Space & Place: Inside, the studio keeps going. First floor: check-in, retail, sauna, cold plunge, salt room. Upstairs: a spacious infrared practice room, cubbies, showers and changing space. Part yoga studio. Part recovery space. A whole lotta community. ~ Practical Notes: * Tucked behind the storefronts (look for the party lights) * Free parking * Infrared-heated practice room * Showers & cubbies * Sauna & cold plunge & salt room * Cold, wet towel in Savasana * Puppy Yoga & other specialty classes ~ The dance was with our own breath. * Yoga Field Note: Practice is personal, but we make it better together.

The routes were a lot of fun here! There was a good mix of overhang routes, slab, coordination routes, top outs, dynos, and everything in between. Whether you're a beginner or pro, there was routes for everyone difficulty wise. I was able to finish routes up to V5/V6 here which is pretty accurate to what I climb back home in Houston. There is also a weight room, training area, yoga room, silks area, slack line area, merchandise shop, seating areas, and a bar available. This gym really has it all! The climbing community seems to be pretty close knit here as well, as many of the members seem to be friends sharing beta. The youth climbing team was pretty good here too if you have a kid interested in climbing competitions. I highly recommend everyone to check out this gym whether you're visiting Boise or a Boise native!
