When I go into a comic shop I want to dig in peace. If I have questions I will go to the counter and ask. There are a lot of staff members here and they all walk around asking if you need help. Sometimes multiple times during the same visit. So every employee in the place will eventually come over to me and ask if I need help over and over again. Sometimes I just walk out. This place has a decent size back issue bin selection and they probably make most of there sales revenue from these back issues. I feel the prices are also too high probably to cover the cost of all the employees. Other than that the shop is clean and organized. Too clean to organized, so there are no treasures to find hidden in some dusty box. If a title spikes I don't bother come here to try and find it because I know someone already easily found it and bought it. The appealing part of this hobby is the dig.

This local business has something for every comic book, science fiction and board game fan, plus a really kind staff dedicated to geekdom! The owner, Jerry, became obessed with Marvel comics around the age of nine and started religiously collecting anything superhero related, with Hulk and Spiderman as his all-time favorites. Little did he know, someday he'd be running a successful comic bookstore and have his own 10-foot-tall Incredible Hulk action figure that he waited two years to get from Germany. It's that kind of dedication to comic fandom that's helped Alien Worlds last for decades, and even expand to two locations in the city. Jerry admitted that he still struggles parting with rare collector items sometimes, but he's gotten better over the years. Go check out his fantastic inventory before he changes his mind!

Totally Rad store!

Greeted by the owner, Phil, and Bill, who own and run the shop, I was in awe of all the vintage goods. If you're looking for a shop that knows vintage and has enthusiasts that love talking vintage comics, this is a must stop shop! They have so many cool books and series, and are so knowledgeable about each and every one of them, so if you have any questions, ask and they would be glad to help or tell you more. Tucked in the corner of the shop is a vintage Galaxian cabinet that is on free play, and if you beat Phil's high score, you get half off on 10 dollar comics! Highly recommend this shop to anyone that is a collector of comics, or honestly just any nerd. Phil and Bill will take care of you and make you want to come back as soon as you can.

Once again Fernanda put together a smooth running event. I do love this event…read more I shop here regularly. So, the opportunity to come & show them more love is okay by me. Their volunteers are always so helpful & knowledgeable. Its why I come back. Well, & the books. I came this time wanting cookbooks. I hadn't ever looked at their selection before. I collect vintage cookbooks, (yes, I use them too. ), I was happy to see the selection they had. I'll be back to look. Definitely adding this area to my focus. Right around the corner from the cookbooks are the vintage books. Well, they had this wonderful little Dick Tracy book. I knew it was coming home with me. Then, when I went to psy they were going to give me the Dick Tracy one. I told them no, I wanted to pay for it, it gives them the money. Isn't that the point!?

I discovered Sanctuary when I was picking up some wings at WingIt, which is in the same shopping center. My wings weren't ready yet, so I had some time to kill and that's when I noticed this small comic book store. The owner was in the process of closing, but asked me if I wanted to take a look. I immediately fell in love with the place. It has that old paper smell that gives me that feeling of nostalgia. The walls display a bunch of key issues and toys from Star Trek to marvel back when toybiz was making 'em. The owner (and seemingly sole employee), Rolando (I think that's his name) is a very affable and laid back dude. Even though he was staying past closing time, he never rushed me and was even nicest dude you could ever talk to. Still, I didn't want to keep him too long so I told him I'd come back the next day. When I returned I really took a deep dive to see what they had to offer and I was not disappointed. The prices of the comics were very affordable and Rolando is the kind of guy who's open to cutting a fair deal. I couldn't have left any happier. Now, full disclosure: they don't have many new issues that I could see, seems like they deal in mostly back issues. I didn't see too many graphic novels, also I didn't notice any manga but I wasn't really looking for them though. But, if you're like me and like just collecting old comics and toys this is the place for you. Oh! They also carry self-published comics made by local creators which I thought was cool. Definitely would recommend this place!
