Once again Fernanda put together a smooth running event. I do love this event…read more I shop here regularly. So, the opportunity to come & show them more love is okay by me. Their volunteers are always so helpful & knowledgeable. Its why I come back. Well, & the books. I came this time wanting cookbooks. I hadn't ever looked at their selection before. I collect vintage cookbooks, (yes, I use them too. ), I was happy to see the selection they had. I'll be back to look. Definitely adding this area to my focus. Right around the corner from the cookbooks are the vintage books. Well, they had this wonderful little Dick Tracy book. I knew it was coming home with me. Then, when I went to psy they were going to give me the Dick Tracy one. I told them no, I wanted to pay for it, it gives them the money. Isn't that the point!?

The selection is really impressive, especially if you're into Texas history, local authors, antique books, or those special finds you don't usually come across at bigger bookstores - and at a great price. and I could've easily spent way more time browsing - it's well organized and fun to explore without feeling overwhelming. The staff truly made the visit even better. Everyone was kind, patient, and genuinely happy to help or just chat, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal.

Now THIS is my kind of comic book store! Rows of longboxes STUFFED with old comic books, vintage…read moretoys and none of those dumb Funko pop toys you can't seem to escape these days. I discovered Sanctuary when I was picking up some wings at WingIt, which is in the same shopping center. My wings weren't ready yet, so I had some time to kill and that's when I noticed this small comic book store. The owner was in the process of closing, but asked me if I wanted to take a look. I immediately fell in love with the place. It has that old paper smell that gives me that feeling of nostalgia. The walls display a bunch of key issues and toys from Star Trek to marvel back when toybiz was making 'em. The owner (and seemingly sole employee), Rolando (I think that's his name) is a very affable and laid back dude. Even though he was staying past closing time, he never rushed me and was even nicest dude you could ever talk to. Still, I didn't want to keep him too long so I told him I'd come back the next day. When I returned I really took a deep dive to see what they had to offer and I was not disappointed. The prices of the comics were very affordable and Rolando is the kind of guy who's open to cutting a fair deal. I couldn't have left any happier. Now, full disclosure: they don't have many new issues that I could see, seems like they deal in mostly back issues. I didn't see too many graphic novels, also I didn't notice any manga but I wasn't really looking for them though. But, if you're like me and like just collecting old comics and toys this is the place for you. Oh! They also carry self-published comics made by local creators which I thought was cool. Definitely would recommend this place!
