I never write Yelp reviews, but after searching high and low for a reliable tailor I came across Alice at Alice's alterations and she's been GREAT! She knows what she's doing, is QUICK!!, and very reasonably priced. read more

Alice does quality work. I have taken many items to her over the past several years. The shop is not the best organized place, it may take her a few minutes to find your item, but she will find it. LOL She only takes cash which is why I took a star off. I will continue to go to her because she is a pro with her measurements and work. read more

Excellent work but very expensive. No off-street parking. Only cash or checks so I had to get cash and come back.

Not very organized, the clothes are everywhere and she doesn't know where everything is. Took her a few minutes looking through piles just to find my clothes. Still allowing only cash or checks is a disgrace these days, and just tell you while dropping off your clothes. Price is alright, not cheap but not expensive. read more

Excellent service and superior quality work. A bit pricey, but worth it for a special occasion.

Bought a pair of jeans months ago and decided to get them altered rather than return. Everything was very straight forward at the shop, dropped and she measured very quickly and asked a couple questions about fit. I came back a week later for pick up. I found everyone working here to be very friendly, and their work is highly affordable, it will be my new go-to shop for any sort of clothing repair/alternations. Parking can be a little challenging in the area, and bring cash as they don't take cards. read more

I've recently made the transition to purchasing clothes that are easily personalized in their fit. I was fortunate to find Alice's conveniently located near by. The work on the multiple pairs of pants I brought in were clean, consistent and returned with a decent turn around time. Her store will be getting more articles for tailoring from me soon. read more

Terrible tailor job. Left my items for a week like the woman asked, I returned to pick up my clothes and didn't inspect them the same day and that was a big mistake on my part I should of looked and examined everything in front of her face before leaving the shop. one item ( Versace) dress was coming out of the hem at the bottom, the repair is done terribly, it is obvious and already coming undone. The tag on the dress was and is still barely hanging on. It seems I was charged for just keeping it there for a few days. Also a shirt that had a lose strap was fixed with different color thread. Looks tacky and terrible. Makes me sad I paid for this kind of service. Maybe they should retire, or get better glasses, or better yet get more help. I'd recommend you go somewhere else should you need something sewn or tailored done right. read more

BAD TAILOR!!! I asked this place to fix what another tailor had done. I asked them to put a new zipper in and fix the band which the other tailor had undone. As with the other tailor, it was my first time trying them and I was in a hurry when picking up. I am severely appalled that I paid her for a new zipper and what I got back was not a nw zipper. To explain, the other tailor put in a new zipper but left a tail that was about ten inches In the slacks. In other words, the other tailor used a dress or skirt zipper for my slacks with a side zipper. Alice charged me $16 to cut the tail and slap some glue on the same zipper. And she didn't fix the band. I do not recommend this tailor. Maybe she's good, but I'll never know because she didn't care enough to do the right thing. read more

I took a fancy dress to Alice and she did an amazing job altering the sleeves and hemming it! She listens to what you need and always makes it even better! read more

I went to Alice to get a jumpsuit altered for a wedding with a 4 day turnaround. Alice was able to handle it, did a great job on the tailoring, and it was affordable. I will definitely be going back! read more

After weeks of trying to find the right bridesmaid dress, things came down to one with a weird fit. I had a very short time to get my dress tailored and had never been to a tailor before. I found Alice's Alterations on Yelp. I was not disappointed. She was so very welcoming and quick. As a plus size woman, I was super nervous but, she made me feel at ease. With a few quick touches she pinned my dress like a magician. My dress was ready the next day and fit like a glove. Thank you, Alice! You are amazing! read more

Alice's Alterations is a cute little old-school tailoring shop, totally deserving of all the 5-star reviews! Located on Rosecrans next to Fashion Nails, and across the street from the Jack in the Box, Alice has been in business in this exact location for over 31 years now! I had several business suit jackets that needed the sleeves hemmed, and she did a beautiful job, quickly (2-3 days') time and reasonably ($15 each). If you're in need of some alterations, would definitely recommend Alice! read more

The best! Alice is so talented-we've brought her formal wear, pants, suits, jackets, you name it! She can do the simple to the complex and she always does it with a sweet smile and in a timely fashion (pun intended). read more

Alice does a wonderful job with alterations and repairs. My go to seamstress. Her work is impeccable. She delivers on time. And her prices are very reasonable. read more

I brought in 4 items to be altered. One turned out great, but problems with the other 3. I had two tops hemmed and they used a different color thread on the front and back, and the thickness of the hem is inconsistent (about 1/4" difference in different sections which is noticeable). Also, they are not good with slinky fabrics (I was left with a crooked seam that pulls in one garment). The shop seems very disorganized, but on a positive note they were friendly. They just don't have the skill or detail to do alterations! I don't even have the confidence to bring the items back that were done wrong. I'm taking them somewhere else and will pay again to have them done correctly. Lesson learned! read more

Small and unnoticed shop but worth going to for any alterations you might find yourself needing. The owner was nice and very helpful. She had my dress uniform ready in an hr. Also when I got my dress top back, it was squared away. Ive had my uniform dry cleaned plenty of times but have never been as impressed as I was by Alice's services. And the pricing isn't bad at all. Thank you again for getting my uniform ready in time! read more

Great service and accommodating. I had a tube top taken in on each side and these long organza pants hemmed. Now it fits me perfectly reasonably priced for the area. Parking is tough tho. I wish they had a 15-20 min curbside parking. read more

Good timing, price and quality! I've been here a couple times over the past year and always have left happy. Cash only

Had 2 of my bridesmaids dresses tailored to perfection! Brought a friend here to have her MOH dresses tailored as well. She went to a previous place and we found that they marked her dress unevenly for a hem. Alice caught to mistake right away and we picked it up in perfect condition Thank you so much! read more

Great work and service. They were able to replace the zippers on 2 pairs of pants at very short notice and have them ready for me the next day right in time for my vacation! Their prices were significantly lower than the 2 other places in Point Loma I asked. I will definitely return for any future alteration/repair work. read more

Alice is great! I have used her several times and I was referred by friends that always use her for wedding dresses and formals! Highly recommended!!! read more

Alice's is simply one of the best options for tailoring in the San Diego area. I had a very good quality suit tailored here (and on short notice!), receiving it back in two days with a perfect fit. Alice will take the time to have you stand on an elevated platform, pinning everything old-style. The work itself is done to a level as good as factory or better. Very kind, and quick to please, I strongly recommend this Point Loma location. The only catch is parking- Park one street to the east, in the green zone, and walk it. The other spots are used by local residents, and are seldom available. Prices are a bit higher than market standard (about $30 to $40 for a two-piece suit or uniform alteration), but she's worth it. Great tailor, and she also has some nice ladies working there as well! read more

I've been going to Alice for almost all of my alterations. She does a great job and has fair prices.. My only concern is the organization of the shop... I have never had a problem or had an article lost. But sometimes when I go to pick up items it takes her a bit to locate them. She'll be looking thru piles of clothes and sometimes picks up my clothes from different piles. I shouldn't judge because maybe that is her system and it works for her! I have OCD tendencies so I may just not understand. One time I sent my husband to go pick up my dress I had hemmed. She gave him the wrong one... Thank goodness he knows my style and came home with the right dress! But I have to say I have a 100% success rate with Alice for perfection over the past 4 years! read more

I'm in the Navy so I was cautious about if they were familiar with military uniforms.... The result: An awesome job hemming my pants! It was a quick last minute job as well. Definitely recommended, I will be back for sure! #Thomas read more

Fantastic very sweet and professional woman. She did my measurements for free and really fast even as a walk in!!! I of course offered a tip and I will def be back for alterations. read more

Love Alice's. I cannot begin to count the number of times I've asked Her to save an old item, renovate one or adjust a new one! Absolutely reliable and skilled! read more

Great quality and value! Alice did the alterations for my wedding dress. She changed the whole hemline to a high-low and took out multiple layers to make it less "poofy", exactly how I wanted it. She is clearly extremely skilled and it was so much more affordable than I had anticipated - I cannot recommend Alice enough! read more

Alice is such a great tailor! She has been my go-to for years and has altered everything from expensive designer dresses to patches on pants for me, and it's always done quickly, perfectly, and for a great price. Parking can be limited, so I suggest parking at the little hotel on the corner and walking to Alice's (if you ask them if you can park there they always say yes). read more

This place did a phenomenal job doing my uniform patches - for the price and how quick she sewed them you cannot find better!!!! My new place! read more

They did a great job, no complaints there. Not sure of the going rate for a hem but I paid $10 for a jumper and $18 for a basic hem on a bridesmaids dress, I thought that was a little high. My only major complaint is their organization, it's scary unorganized. She actually asked me what stuff was mine around the shop... read more

Very very happy with my dress! I brought in my expensive bridesmaid dress and had to get the sides taken in. It was only $27! And they did an amazing job! Definitely recommending this place to anyone who needs an alteration! read more

She always does a fantastic job. I drop off my things to her and she has them done for me by 2:00pm. If you are looking for a quick turnaround tune than she is your person to go to. Not expensive at all. read more

I got my company logo custom embroidered on several pieces of apparel. Hands down better than the on-line company I went to before realizing Alice's Alterations was so close to my home and business. The quality of work and pricing is amazing. You talk to people, not a sales person. I recommend contacting Alice before you order from those sponsored ads on social media. read more

Great job altering 2 of my brand new Betabrand pants! Will use them again next time I am in SD. Also, good price point and quick turnaround. read more

Alice is an excellent tailor! I've had her take in dress straps, reshape blouses, make flare legs into skinny pants/jeans, hem denim, and rework side seams. All her work has been perfect and fits like a dream. She works with her family and runs her little shop with professionalism. I highly recommend her! She's cash/check only and you can pay upon drop off or pick up. read more

Awesome awesome awesome...came in on a Wednesday to have a suit tailored for a wedding on Saturday...I'm always last minute. She measured and pinned my suit in under 5 mins and told me i could pick it up the next day...amazing service and a fair price. I will definitely return to have more work done. read more

Alice is awesome! She's quick, cheap and does a great job at tailoring. Measurements take no more than 30 seconds an outfit. And if she can't do something she is honest and doesn't want to risk ruining an outfit like my prom dress I tried to make a size bigger after a few years (oops) but she let me know she can try but it probably won't get much bigger and she saved me the money although she's already reasonably priced. Don't go anywhere else! This is the place! I only take my things here read more
