My first appointment with Dr. Moran was to establish a new professional relationship when my husband and I moved to the area last May. Having undergone periodontal treatment in Northern California to address advanced periodontal disease, it was very important to me that my new periodontist was skilled at maintaining, and advancing, the successful treatment plan I had in place. At the first appointment her examination was thorough and Dr. Moran's manner put me at ease. Not only did she instill confidence in her approach but she also put any uncertainties I had about working with a new dentist to rest. Dr. Moran recommended an additional Lanap laser procedure to further the treatment. That procedure was successfully performed in her office and my gums are now healthy and maintained with regular cleanings, also in Dr. Moran's office. After consulting with several periodontists in the SoCal area about a gum graft I was so dissatisfied with the lack of transparency. My first impression of the Moran office was over the phone, calling to make an appointment and check how my insurance would work with their service- I was blown away by how direct, friendly, and efficient this interaction was. It was welcoming and clear. I really got the sense that they didn't want to waste my time but also that they would work *with* me to properly bill my insurance company as well as give me the procedures that I actually needed without pushing unnecessary work. Dr. Moran is simultaneously so friendly and so adept- I felt incredibly comfortable but mostly sure that I was in very capable hands. There is no nonsense but it is "no nonsense" with a very genuine smile. Jenny the office manager is hilarious but she knows her sh*t cold. I really got the sense that this is a very well run establishment. I can't emphasize enough the security and responsibility I felt working with this office. Again, they are so professional without being cold and clinical. My procedure(gum grafts) was quick, painless, and well executed. I got a followup call to see how I was feeling the day after from Dr. Moran herself. The followup appointments were thorough and concise. Honestly the experiences with Dr. Moran and staff have completely changed the way I interact with the medical community at large- recently moved abroad and I would give anything to have this healthcare experience again. I only wish there were an option to give more than five stars! Dr. Moran and her amazing staff have treated me with with honesty, integrity, compassion and expertise. My only regret is not going to see Dr. Moran earlier. After years of unknowingly being ripped off by a Dental group in Talega (San Clemente), I contacted my insurance company for a referral. Thankfully, they sent me to Dr. Alice Moran. I was apprehensive and nervous about the procedure I needed. The first Periodontist (my former Dentist referred me to) insisted my condition was so severe he would likely have to perform the procedure twice to fix the problem. I was naive and believed him. In addition, this "out of network" Periodontist was an extortionist and had every intention of emptying my pocketbook with inflated charges. I am blessed to have been referred to Dr. Moran's office. Not only did she get the job done right the first time around, my gums and teeth look fantastic and I literally saved thousands of dollars! These days it is hard to know who you can trust. Dr. Moran is an excellent periodontist. San Clemente is very lucky to have a doctor of her caliber. When I moved to San Clemente 6 years ago, my dentist recommended her and I will be forever grateful. I have had 2 dental implants by her which are perfect. I see her every 3 months for cleanings, and her hygienist is excellent. Ginny at the front desk is always accommodating and is so empathetic, funny and just plain nice. Level of professionalism, diligence, knowledge, expertise, equipment and manner of caring for a patient in my case was beyond belief amazing. After having years of butchered dental work in the military and civilian sector I have horrible medicated anxiety when it comes to dentists and dental procedures as well as dealing with Customer Care to a point that I have to take Volume just to brace myself to walk into an office let alone allow treatment. My first interaction with Dr. Morans is their office manager and front desk who I am not going to lie is firm in delivery which I learned is for a reason as she knows her job to a T and does it exceptionally to properly care for the patient and the clinic which makes the bridge between insurance company, scheduling and appropriately addressing the needs of a patient accurate and in a timely manner. When it comes to the Dentist and his assistant is where it really all comes together. Not only they are caring, patient and kind...but the level of knowledge in their respectable dental field is so immaculate that allows a calm, fast and painless experience no matter the challenge. The best part...when you leave...there is no after math to deal with, unlike other dentists, like...crown too high...temporary falling off...tooth in pain...infections for unknown reasons...poor understanding of what is being done or having to come back because something went wrong. Anyone that has had dental work done can say that tooth pain and coping with the results could be the most unbearable, excruciating and disabling experience that can easily end you up in the ER....but not Dr. Morans office as they not only flawlessly do their dental work but can also fix everyone else's butchered jobs. Where do I start? Dr Moran was recommended for a second opinion to me by my dental hygienist (from another office). Gum surgery (cut and stitch) was apparently the only option, according to the first periodontist with whom I consulted...not so! Dr Moran began with her own set of X-rays and a thorough exam of my mouth, then offered a laser surgery option with half the recovery time, half the cost and half the discomfort compared to the option previously offered by the first doc! No doubt about it, I was in! That procedure was scheduled within a week and I am now a happy camper, well on the road to a healthier, happier mouth. Meanwhile in the "front of the house", Ginny has been my rock. I've called several times with one question or another. With each encounter she has advised me with patience and competence and humor. I love that. Actually, the sense of teamwork is evident. Each member seems to respect and appreciate every other. That's a welcome change, not always typical, and you can feel that on arrival. I love that too! Not only that, the last time I was at the office I met a couple who had been seeing Dr. Moran for 11 years and driving from Palos Verdes to do it! What does that tell you? From my first call nearly 10 years ago to the cleaning I had a few months ago, my experiences with Dr Moran and everyone on her staff have been exceptional. I highly recommend them for any procedure you need done. You can stop reading now if you'd like, but I'd like to share some of my story and in doing so, thank Dr Moran, her office manager, Ginny, and her entire staff for what they've done for me. I first became aware of Dr Moran when I was flipping channels and came across her giving an interview on a cable TV channel. I listened to her talk about the advanced techniques she was using to treat periodontal disease. I knew I had to do something about my gums and teeth. In the two years prior to my first call to Dr Moran's office, I had seen three different dentists and each time the visit consisted of painful probing and stabbing of my gums which resulted in me stopping the dentist and ending the visit before they really had a chance to get started. I had advanced periodontal disease - loose teeth, bone deterioration, swelling, and bleeding. Frankly, I was scared and embarrassed. I was sure the only option left for me was to have all my teeth pulled - I was terrified (really). My experiences with Dr Moran and her staff began when I called the office and spoke with Ginny, the office manager. I can't remember exactly what was said during that first conversation, but I know I told her my fears and I will never forget this: she understood my fears and with respect, forthrightness, and empathy, Ginny reassured me; she told me about their services and expressed how important it is to treat periodontal disease. My first appointment with Dr Moran was so different than anything I had experienced in the past. Dr Moran understood the sensitivity I had in my gums and the pain caused by probing and stabbing. She used a topical numbing agent prior to her examination which greatly reduced my discomfort and pain. After she completed the exam - which didn't take long, she talked to me! She too was forthright and empathetic, as she told me about the condition of my teeth and gums and made treatment recommendations. There is so much that happened in those first few months and then over the next couple years, that I can't begin to go into here. Suffice it to say, with each procedure, I came to trust Dr Moran and her staff more and more. Today, I honestly believe no other dental/periodontal office comes close to the skill, professionalism and empathy you will experience with Dr Moran and her staff! They are worth driving the extra mile - I drive over 30 minutes to see them. Dr Moran's knowledge of advanced techniques along with her practical approach to determining the best treatment plan for me, has been such a success for me. I now have healthy gums and will never again talk about getting all my teeth pulled. I had a lot of work done (extractions, LANAP, bone grafting, implants, and more) and I can say that every step of the way Ginny, Dr Moran, and entire team were there for me - and still are! Dr. Moran has clearly used her Hippocratic Oath as toilet paper. I came to Dr. Moran seeking help for my tooth. She promised she could save it with her "laser". I initially said if it's too much and doesn't have a good long term prognosis, I'd rather get an implant. She said no problem she can save it, so I gave it a try. The tooth needed to come out a year later and she recommended an implant. She pulled the tooth and that was a traumatic experience. I felt the whole thing and she kept jamming a needle in my mouth and kept saying "I think you're numb now!" Well i wasn't. The whole thing took 2 hours! I find out now that I have paid over $3,500 and this does NOT include the implant! I asked her front staff to explain and she brushed me off. She jokingly said if I wanted to look like a homeless Kentucky backwood guy I could stay as is. This is NOT a way to run a business. This is NOT a way to act like a Human being. Stay away from these people. I am now being treated by an Oral Surgeon for cheaper. I wish I never came here read more

They are extremely organized, and Dr. Moran and her staff are friendly and very clear about everything, including options, price, preparation, healing etc. If I ever needed gum surgery or implants I would feel very comfortable going to this dentist. read more

Dr. Moran is excellent, I am so happy I found her. My sister went to her to remove a cyst on her lip. She was so happy with the work she did, both her and the staff are great people. My sister has had a cyst on her lip removed before but the last time she did it they surgically removed it and had to make a large incision. Dr. Moran used a minimally invasive technique with her laser and the cyst was removed with ease leaving no scar and healed very fast. Thank you Dr. Moran and team!!! read more

I have been to Dr. Moran for laser gum treatments and her hygienist for cleanings. After having several traditional gum surgeries in San Francisco, I can say Dr. Moran and her laser are the way to go. NO pain, little or NO recovery time, a NO brainer. One of the best decision I have EVER made. I did the laser gum surgery several years ago and Dr. Moran and her staff was AMAZING! I had what Dr. Moran said was urgent gum surgery with "the laser". I am not a fearful dental patient, but she jerked my mouth around, caused tremendous unnecessary pain and this was an overall horrendous experience! I hear she trained in the Navy, so maybe she's used to causing pain and having her patients tolerate it, but I don't see any reason for this to happen. My results were poor and now I'm spending thousands of dollars to correct the mess she made. Be cautious here. I would strongly suggest you find another periodontist. Minus ten! The dentist was fine but (long story) her office manager (Jenny) pulled some very shady maneuvers with the insurance billing. After many frustrating and time-consuming phone calls, the insurance company finally agreed to reimburse us the amount she had deliberately and sneakily overcharged us and go after her directly to get the overage refunded, much to our relief. He behavior and attitude were so deliberate and calculated we were stunned. I am amazed she is still employed there--because her attitude is one of the worst we've ever encountered. I just noticed that the numerous negative reviews of this business are all coincidentally (ha!) on the last 'not recommended' page and all the good ones are on the first page. I had a great experience getting gum grafts with Dr Moran. I had one half done last summer and returned this summer for the other half. Dr Moran is extremely proficient and the results are top notch. Not the most comfortable procedure but Dr Moran and her staff made it as pain free and relaxing as possible. Always looked forward to my appointments as her staff makes you feel like a good friend.
