New to the area and needed a dental checkup with a new provider. The office is comfortable and convenient, and everyone super nice. Hygienist chatted with me a bit to make me comfortable, and got me x-rayed and cleaned in about 45 minutes. Doctor came in and his knowledge and skill really stood out as he pointed out dental work from 15 years ago I had literally forgotten about. After giving me a clean bill of health he listed a few things that we would watch moving forward since that older dental work is showing its age, but no need to do anything yet. Overall I highly recommend as they made me feel comfortable and welcomed, and don't do any unneeded work. I have been to many dentists in my adult life, but Dr David Buchan, DDS is by far, the most highly competent, compassionate and honest dentist that I have ever visited! If you are experiencing anything painful with your teeth, I urge you to call Dr Buchan, DDS immediately! (949) 496-1221 I was having longstanding pain on the right side of my mouth; after not finding a dentist for 10+ years, I finally got into see Dr Buchan and discovered that I needed 3 crowns to be done, with no time to delay. Dr Buchan's office adheres to strict Covid guidelines, set by the CDC, so I felt safe about going in there. Bring your mask! My initial treatment was with the hygienist, Collette; she was engaging, informative about everything she did, and was excellent. She has 31 years of experience in her field, so that in and of itself is something of high value. Then I had my initial consultation with Dr Buchan, he was able to see my dental history through my x-rays, and he only recommended work that was absolutely essential. After not going to any dentist for 10 + years, I could no longer ignore the pain in my right side of my teeth. I can't keep chewing on my left side forever! It was time for the work to be done, and Dr Buchan will grant a 10% discount to all cash paying patients, which is the best possible deal if you need as much work as I did. The treatments were extensive and potentially painful, but Dr Buchan offers Nitrous + all the Novocain that you will need. He really listens to his patients, and he proceeds when the patient is ready. Excellent, excellent dentist! Dr Buchan also has another dental assistant assisting him the entire time, and so the patient always feels like they are in expert hands. I had my 3 broken teeth repaired with 3 crowns expertly installed, and I can honestly say it wasn't as bad as I envisioned it. Dr Buchan handled it expertly, and I thank GOD that I found him. I can now chew on the right side of my mouth like I could never do for years!!! WOW!!! It's not everyday that you can find such an excellent, compassionate and honest dentist! Another good visit to Dr. Buchan's dentist office. His office team is practicing safe COVID protocols and, as requested, I called the office from my car when I arrived. They promptly asked me to come in and after a quick temp check and a few COVID exposure-related questions I was immediately taken back for dental cleaning by the hygienist. After a thorough and pain-free cleaning, Dr. Buchan came in for my exam. All good on the exam with nothing found that required extra work. I was new to San Clemente and needed a local Dentist. I was referred to Dr Buchan by two of my neighbors who went to him. The office staff are very nice and confirmed all my insurance in advance. My first visit was went well and I had a complete evaluation of my dental needs. On my second visit I had a crown. I told the receptionist at check in that I was a little nervous and she assured my that Dr Buchan was very gentle. What I really appreciated was his friendly assistant who was very kind and Dr Buchan's bedside manner. He talked to me the whole time to distract me and gave me breaks to rest my mouth often. He is a wonderful man besides a great Dentist. I can't say enough about his character and kindness as a person. I get my permanent crown in approx 10 days and feel comfortable and confident with the care and service I received from Dr Buchan and his staff. I highly recommend him. read more

Hello Just want to say Thank-you to Dr Buchan and his staff for helping me on a Friday when they are closed. Fixing my crown that fell out on Friday morning before the weekend. Originally his assistant who was in the office for a short time doing paperwork was going to put it back in temporarily to get thru the weekend. I had to switch dentists as I had moved too far from my old dentist. I was looking at yelp, google, all sorts of sources and realized that was pretty hopeless. So I did what I should have done in the first place and asked a neighbor (with nice teeth!) where she goes. Dr. Buchan. Just for added security, I checked some reviews here and google and people like this dentist so I went in for a cleaning and an exam. I'm glad I did. 10 minutes drive, easy parking, excellent. I walk in and there are three genuinely beaming employees at the front desk. Not creepy beaming, just nice people. My hygienist, Collette, couldn't have been nicer or done a better job. Then the Dr came in and he was great as well. We talked a bit and decided to get some damaged filling replaced. Zero pressure from him. He just showed them to me and I decided. The next week, he was great. He went to great lengths to make sure I was comfortable and felt no pain. With no anesthetic he replaced the cavities and I had zero discomfort. So far, so good. I switched from another local dental group, which was a smart move.
