While I've had a procedure and seen Dr. Madi before, this was my first experience having a procedure at their San Clemente office. I've been dreading this procedure for about 2 years. I tried all the different types of tooth paste, rinses, and gum to reverse the issue, but as Dr. Madi predicted, my bone loss and gum issues did not improve. Today was finally the day. I first want to shout out Bri at the front desk. She was absolutely lovely from the minute I met her. She was always kind and even the day before assisted with answering (or finding the answer) to a slew of questions I had as my anxiety started to raise. For the procedure, Feda and Mariann were the assistants and they were wonderful. They were both very calming and understood my anxiety. Feda especially made sure I had a blanket and explained everything I asked her about. And, of course, Dr. Madi...he is wonderful. He has great 'bedside manner' but is also fully a professional and very skilled in his work. I've always trusted him and know he is a top tier surgeon and periodontist. He also teaches to students too, which shows that he's always keeping up on the latest and greatest technologies. Happy I found SoCal Perio Implants and especially Dr. Madi. One thing that would have added complete excellence would have been a post surgery call to check in, but otherwise everything was great. read more

Not sure how anyone can give this place less than 5 stars. I recently had gum grafting with Dr Madi, was a little nervous but he and his staff made me feel extremely comfortable. The surgery was very comfortable with no pain during, very little discomfort after, I did have swelling but nothing out of the usual. Dr Madi is a wonderful Dr, from his consultation to the surgery day he extremely professional and answered every single question from A-Z. I would recommend him 100000x over again. Integrity counts!!! I came to this office to get a third opinion on a gum grafting procedure. First office said I should graft four teeth, second office said to do 6 teeth. The next time I saw a hygienist who previously worked with a periodontist she said don't do it at all! I was so lost and didn't know who to trust so I went to Dr. Caplanis for a third opinion. I told him that I would not get a procedure done by him as I already had two opinions but was just looking for a third due to what the hygienist said. He explained that he is board certified and couldn't in good conscience recommend that I do ANY grafting. He explained exactly what the hygienist had said - as long as I continue to keep my teeth super clean, my teeth and bone and gums would be fine. This saved me about $2k and two weeks of pain. If I need a periodontist in the future, Dr. Caplanis will have my business! read more

3 stars due to high costs of this office and how little breakdown I was given on what charges were and why it was so high. I went in for a consolation for my receding gums, and initially knew I needed about 2-3 surgeries. However during my visit I was told I needed bone grafting surgery as well on top of gum grafting. So total now I was looking at 4-5 surgeries, and I was told it would take me a year with recovery and surgery to get everything done. I don't know if it's because I went in alone without my parents, but I am a college student and $20,00 for gum and bone grafting seemed way beyond unrealistic for me- I don't pay that much for my schooling! Again I don't know if this offices prices are higher than usual, but I went somewhere else and got a consultation and was told bone grafting long term wouldn't be good for my case.. and the prices were remarkably lower for my gum grafting at only $5,500 quote. Don't get me wrong the doctors were super nice and attentive, but some more details into why I was quoted $20,000 would have been helpful. read more

Dr. Caplanis and his entire team are comforting, knowledgeable, and incredible at their work. Unfortunately, my general dentist missed following up on a tooth that had internal resorption. The tooth needed to be extracted and my choices were to have a hole in my smile or an implant. After many interviews with different periodontists, I found Dr. Caplanis. Avoid this business. Dr Madi is unfit to be a periodontist. I was referred to him for a problem with an implant. He told me I didn't know how to floss. I saw him twice over a period of 2 months. He did nothing...Stating he was conservative and didn't believe in antibiotics. When I would call his office telling them I was In extreme pain I would never hear back. Now he is lying about offering me a treatment plan that I turned down. That never happened. How could he proffer a treatment plan when he never even took an X-ray! Avoid this so called periodontist. Save yourself from unnecessary suffering. His neglect cost me to lose the implant along with 2 teeth adjacent to the implant. The infection spread into my sinus cavity requiring surgery. I've since had a sinus lift and bone graft by a reputable oral surgeon. Dr Madi caused me a great deal of pain and suffering not to mention thousands and thousands of dollars all due to dr Madi's neglect and lack of proper care. read more

I started working with Dr. Caplanis and his team in 2006, when I had to have all of my teeth extracted, and a whole mouth implant process was started. The entire restoration took 2 years start to finish, and here we are 13 years later, and everything is in perfect shape. I visit the office 4 times a year for special cleanings, and I truly think that this was the best investment I have ever made. I had a consult with a periodontist by the name of Caplanis today. He's the top guy in the dental office or so I have been told. Regardless, notice how I purposely did not address this person by "Dr. Caplanis" because he's not worthy of such a title by any stretch of the imagination. I think the experience I had in his office has left a sour taste in my mouth. I think I bruised his overly-inflated ego because I had the audacity and was brave enough to question some of the things he said about my teeth. There is no need for me to go into the details of the verbal exchange I had with this person. I certainly wouldn't want to bore any of you folks reading my review. What is most significant, however, from this encounter is that when I wanted clarification and requested for elaboration, as is reasonably expected from any prospective patient at a consultation for the very first time, he stated that I was being "argumentative". I in turn responded by telling him I was not impressed. Then, he abruptly walked away in the middle of the consult in the exam room like a petulant 5 year old child who became unhappy because her parents refused to give to her a lollipop right before dinner. Quite embarrassing and exceedingly childish and completely and utterly unacceptable and unprofessional. His staff was equally rude and ill-equipped in dealing with prospective patients in a courteous manner. I believe the name was Leah. Leah erroneously demanded that I signed certain paperwork (Hippa forms and insurance) before the consult could proceed. Of course I stood my ground and did not oblige to this totally improper demand. It was then that she rudely asked me to wait outside, apparently because I was not wearing a face covering, even though I indicated that I had already been vaccinated. I can understand for the cause of "safety" that precautions need to be taken to combat the coronavirus and to further combat the emergence of the delta variant as told and informed to the public by the influential and powerful, albeit false, liberal mainstream media, but there really comes a point in time for the sake of all Californians that this paranoia about Covid-19 ceases, shoudn't it? After all, how is this periodontist supposed to examine my teeth? With a face covering on? What is the point of my wearing a face covering and then subsequently opening my mouth for examination? By then, wouldn't I logically be exposing my germs to everyone in the office at the point of putting people working in the office at risk of contracting Covid? We must surely prevent all unnecessary risks, right? A little sarcasm here in the event this person does not have the mental capacity to understand my words. Needless to say, as much as I do not wish to evaluate any business in a negative manner, I have unfortunately been put in the position of having to do so regarding this business to alert others of my absolute awful and unpleasant experience. I am unable to give anything other than negative, negative stars if I were to be completely honest in my objective assessment of this dental office. Sometimes the truth really hurts but it must nevertheless be told. There was a review posted in 2016 by a lady named Debbie. Her description of this person's, periodontist, personality and temperament was spot on. I wholeheartedly agree with her assessment. He lacks maturity and sadly he thinks he knows so much, but definitely there are still so many things he can learn. He needs to tone down his overbearing, condescending attitude because it's not appreciated. To say that he seriously needs to work on his bedside manners is an understatement. My impression is that he does not like it when people question his perceived innate and incredible knowledge of dentistry. He has a problem if anyone challenges his mind or his intellect. It's like he doesn't want to take time to listen because heaven forbid, anything else anyone says is just plain wrong and beneath him, so there is no need for him to exert any effort to politely muster a reasonable and mature response. To be honest, I usually do not post reviews. In fact, 99% of the time I do not do so, period. But in this particular case, this person really had it coming. There is absolutely no way I would pay even a dime of my money to get any dental procedure done at this office. I am repulsed by this person and for very good reason. For all future and prospective patients, you have been warned in advance. For a consult, you do not have to sign anything. Do not allow them to force you to sign anything. Definitely, you can take your business elsewhere to teach this person a long, hard life lesson. Perhaps only then will he look at himself in the mirror and truly reflect on his own shortcomings. read more

I had a great experience with Dr Caplanis - his staff worked with me through my work schedule and even when I got a second opinion elsewhere they were nice to reschedule me multiple times so I can manage appointments with other Drs.. came back to Dr C. despite the cost being a bit higher, i just has a better impression of him and his staff. Did an implant surgery and gum graft at the same time - I was terrified but during the surgery he made me feel calm and talked me the procedure. Went home with almost no pain and minimal swelling and was able to go to work the next day. Two weeks later the assistant Jessica removed my stitches and walked me through the next step..
