It saddens me to have to write this review, but I must. I saw this doctor yesterday, and several things concerned me: 1. Despite filling out, in the waiting room, a list of my current medications, the very first thing she did was start reading from a VERY old list of medications form my history, which she presumably got from a database. Of course I immediately told her that I no longer take the medications she was mentioning. I had to direct her to the form that her own staff had asked me to fill out. 2. Despite the above, she remained focused upon one particular medication that I haven't taken for at least 6 years. She incorrectly believed that that medication is only for diabetes. She asked me, "Are you diabetic?" I answered, "No." "Really? You aren't diabetic?" I was already annoyed to be asked the question again, but I answered no. Then she said, "But you took [name of medication], which suggests to me that you're diabetic. Are you sure?" At this point I was very annoyed. I said, "Ma'am, you've asked me the same question three times, and I've answered it the same way, each time. No matter how many times you ask me the question, the answer will be the same. You seem unaware that that medication has more than one use. It surprises me that you don't know that." (I then told her the other reason I was given that medication, years ago.) 3. A similar thing happened with one of my current medications. She saw the name and asked, "Are you HIV-positive." I said, "No, I'm not." This time, to avoid the "back and forth," I gave her the exact reason I'm taking that medication, which is taken by approximately half a million Americans. But she kept asking questions that indicated she knew nothing about that use, which is simply bizarre. You can't watch TV without seeing ads for it, and it's been that way for years. How does an American physician in 2024 NOT know about this? 4. Finally, she saw that I take medication for anxiety. Later, she asked what I do for a living. When I told her I work in entertainment, she replied, "Well, if you do something that's so much fun, why on earth are you anxious"? That question is disqualifying. This person has a medical degree and practices in the United States--yet has no CLUE what anxiety disorder is. She thinks that if you work in entertainment, your work must be nothing but "fun" (instead of extremely stressful, which is what it's actually like). Furthermore, my anxiety has nothing to do with my work. But she just assumed that one must be related to the other, which is a profoundly naive and presumptive position. I'm frankly STUNNED that this person was given a medical degree. read more

Dr. Ali was recommended to me by my primary care doctor due to a minor issue found in my lab report. After consulting with Dr. Ali and learning about necessary changes to my diet, my latest lab results are now as healthy as they can be. I highly recommend her. read more

Her Patient responsibility is not there. She pushes her responsibility on another Doctor. My mom was a new patient to Dr. Ali. Dr Ali prescribed new medication for my mother, my mother had severe side effects, she called the doctor to let her know. The first phone call, the doctor asked her to quit taking one medication. After the second phone call when my mother was still having the issues with the medication, she told her to call her Primary care. She created an issue with my mother by changing medication's, which no one would know if someone was going to have side effects or not. It was her responsibility as a prescribing doctor to follow through and monitor her patient,.She did not. She shrugged Her responsibilities of monitoring my mother onto my mother's primary care. You only wish your doctor was as awesome as Dr. Ali. First, I need to give a shout-out to Theo N., who referred me over to her. Theo, you are a ROCKSTAR! From the first interaction with her office, on the phone with Abigail to make my initial appointment, I was completely impressed with Dr. Ali and her staff. Everyone there is professional, friendly, and efficient. I got there a few minutes early and filled out the usual medical questionnaire. Susannah took me back to weigh me, find out the reason for my visit and any medical issues I wanted to discuss with the doctor, as well as to check my blood pressure and heart rate. Dr. Ali popped in shortly after and she was lovely - warm and intelligent. She also had a good sense of humor, always a plus. She spent nearly thirty minutes with me taking my medical history and getting to know me. She ordered some blood work and a urine sample (TMI?) and to my surprise, I wasn't sent to another building for lab work. I peed in a cup in the restroom right across from the exam room; when I came back, in walked a nurse with a tray full of blood collection tubes. Yep, they drew my blood right then and there! Janet was patient with my nervousness around needles and made sure it was over quickly and painlessly. I could not have been more pleased with how nice everyone was. A good doctor is hard to find and I am so happy to have been referred to Dr. Ali. Yay for good doctors! P.S. Park in the lot just south of the building. It's not validated but it's free for the first 20 minutes and then only 60 cents every 30 minutes after that, with a maximum charge of $3.50. read more

I was referred to Dr Ali. I called a few days prior and made sure my records were faxed over. I came early and was the first to check in. After waiting 30 min, I see a patient that arrived 20 minutes AFTER me get called back before me. Front staff doesn't say a word to me. Instead they were busy chatting with each other. Anyways, turns out they lost my records but unfortunately they were not in any rush to speed things up. They didn't even tell me until I asked why things were taking so long. Unprofessional. Walls are thin so I can hear Dr Ali taking her time on the phone as I continue to wait some more, now in the room. Anyways, she quickly flips through my chart as I sit there and barely does a physical exam. Maybe I caught her on an off day but she didn't seem very thorough. Not worth the wait. read more

Dr. Ali took care of my 75 year old mother, Carmen, when she moved to Pasadena. Carmen who was a retired RN liked Dr. Ali instantly. Although Carmen's health was fragile, there was no one we would have rather cared for her. Dr. Ali was always thorough, available, professional, and caring. We were so grateful for her kindness and compassion and for all that she did to take care of such an ill patient. She is the BEST internist around and we will never forget the care she gave Carmen. My husband and I both work in health care at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. When it came time for us to choose an internist, we both chose Dr. Ali because of what an amazing physician she is. We see her interacting with her patients when they are hospitalized and are so impressed with how good she is. We have had nothing but positive experiences with her. Finally a doctor who listens! I am so happy! Dr. Ali is compassionate and understanding without being condescending. I was able to communicate openly and she patiently explained test results. For the first time I was able to understand a doctor who speaks clearly and plainly. I believe she sincerely has my best interest in mind. Her gentle and caring attitude toward her patients is demonstrated by her warm smile and caring staff. The worse nephrologist ever!! She prescribed A blood pressure medicine where one of the side effects is kidney failure. She also conducts tele health calls in full PPE which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen from a medical professional especially one who isn't seeing patients at all in the office. She is unorganized and when I asked to go over my blood test results she claimed that she didn't have them and even better that she never ordered them. Then a couple of weeks later I was able to track down the results on my quest and call the office to let them know the specifics. She then called me and half ass went over them and did a terrible job explaining things in laymen terms. I then receive a bill for that phone call, when I shouldn't have been charged. The original appointment I had where she didn't have my blood test results was a waste of an appointment and I expressed that to her directly. To be charged an office visit for a phone call is disgusting!! This woman doesn't care about patients and she will put you into kidney failure. Stay away from her!! read more

I first took my mother to Dr. Ali in 2017. We have found her to be a pleasant, caring and competent doctor that has helped Mom and our family. She listens well when we are in the office and we do not feel like we're being rushed out the door without getting questions answered. The staff also works well with us. After Mom was in the hospital, the office staff worked hard to find an in-home health care company to work with Mom's insurance. At times, the doctor is out (she visits patients in the hospital) and there have been cases where I've needed to reach the doctor quickly, e.g., due to Mom's symptoms of a new infection. Recently, this happened and I called and emphasized the urgency. The staff stayed on top of it and effectively worked to reach the doctor and to get back to me ASAP. read more

I don't NEED to write a review, but this is long over due. Dr Sayeda Ali and her office personnel are super accommodating, kind, caring and efficient. Her office is as clean as you can get. Appointments are always available, the staff service is always courteous and caring. By far the best Primary care office and md I have EVER had! Dr Sayeda Ali is very compassionate and caring. Highly unprofessional and uncaring. My 85 year old father was not feeling well and we suspected he had a bladder infection. My mother made an appointment with Ali after telling the receptionist his symptoms. Ali spent several minutes with my father and she decided he needed to go to the e.r. at Huntington Memorial. Huntington Memorial Hospital's e.r. is a trauma center and extremely busy. Knowing this, Ali sent him there so that he could get testing that she could not provide in her office. He had to wait over 9 hours amidst some very sick people for a simple blood test. My father is not in the best of health and was so weak, he could not walk. Why she couldn't run the blood test herself is a mystery to us or if she couldn't run the test herself, why didn't she send him to a lab? So after 9 hours of waiting and then being told he did not have an infection because his white blood counts were in the normal range we decided to take our father home. Dr. Yang, the e.r. doctor, was going to call Ali to confer with her and she would need to order an ultrasound as the enzymes in his liver were a bit high, not dangerously so, but still a concern. The next day, we called her office to find out what the e.r. doctor and she determined was the problem with my father. She never responded. Two days later found my father in the e.r. yet again, this time the e.r. at Arcadia Methodist, a much shorter wait time. My father's leg was swelling up. It seems he had developed a blood clot from sitting in the e.r. in Huntington for so long. He had his ultrasound performed there because Ali NEVER called us to set that up. Soooooo, remember the blood test dad had taken at Huntington? We didn't get the results from that until 10 days later. Yep, Dad had a bladder infection! Ali wanted to set up a nurse to come administer an i.v. so that he could get an antibiotic. TEN DAYS later!!!! When questioned about this, Ali blamed the e.r. for the lateness of the results. Guess who the e.r. was blaming? Ali was the one that sent my father to the e.r. but she did not bother to follow up to find out how he was doing. Not very caring. In addition, Ali became irate with my mother because my mother questioned her and Ali spoke to my elderly mother in a most unprofessional and unkind manner. Needless to say, we have a new doctor. I would never, NEVER recommend this person. read more

I was deliberate about getting a well recommended Dr. and found Dr. Ali on a "competing reviews site". I was not disappointed. Dr. Ali and her staff is very pleasant and professional which is important to me as I'm not very happy to wait much beyond the scheduled appointment time. They've never had me waiting. There's a Quest Diagnostics blood etc. lab at the ground level, so you only have to make one stop. You can avoid any potential wait by reserving a time slot on-line. As yet, my short patience for waiting has not been tried by Quest Diagnostics either. As a comment to Sabina M: you says that your appointment was in the afternoon. I know it's their deliberate policy to not ask people to fast if their appointments are in the afternoon. This seems reasonable to me. Sorry about your paper work misery. Dr. Ali Syeda seems o.k., but I deeply regret having gone to her for the following reason: From the get go, I made it very clear that I was only there for my yearly(free!!!) check up. One of the perks of my insurance. The nurse or office person scheduled me for an office visit in the afternoon. After the quick exam, Dr. Ali sent me downstairs to the lab, where they told me, that I was actually supposed to have the blood work done on an empty stomach, did I want to do it now or return the next morning? My results from the year before were excellent, so I didn't hesitate and chose to have it done on the spot. Imagine, how surprised I was when I got a call from Dr. Ali saying, my blood sugar was "a little high..." She recommended redoing it , which I refused. That would have meant paying handsomely out of pocket, and for what???She didn't seem to approve, but frankly I couldn't care less, at this point I felt like some sort of cash cow, wtf?!!? I mean, why not schedule me in the morning, after I point out 3 times, that I am there only for my yearly check up, and Yes , that involves blood work. Duh??? After this I decided not to continue with Dr, Ali, just because I felt funny about this., but felt relieved that everything was o.k. well, except for the "little raised blood sugar".Imagine my surprise when I got a lab invoice, from the lab performing the blood work! 272.00 bucks! I immediately called my insurance, and they said, it was submitted with the wrong code! So, I called Dr. Ali's office, of course they played dumb. I asked them to please take care of this, mentioning again, that my insurance covers a yearly free check up. I actually went there in person after receiving notice Nr. 2 or 3 to clarify this, and they promised they would take care of this. I am writing this, just after receiving my fourth notice from the lab. Not only was Dr. Ali's staff unable to put in the right lab code, but they are clearly incapable of taking care of this mess. I am beyond annoyed. She may be a nice person and capable physician, but the fact that her office is run by incompetent people reflects very badly on her in my book. This was a total no brainer, instead I am stuck with making all these calls to lab, insurance and her office. I don't need any drama, thank you! I am so not going back there! Dr Ali has been my doctor since 2007 when i was diagnosed with kidney failure. She was my nephrologist at my dialysis clinic as well as my regular doctor. I have since had my kidney transplant and i see Dr. Ali regularly every 2-3 months now. Dr. Ali is the best!! She's very professional and very friendly. She actually takes time to talk to you on a personal level (not like other doctors where they just examine you quickly and just leave).Her office staff are great. They greet you with a smile and everytime i have a problem with my medications being refilled they always take the time to call my pharmacy to correct it right away. Dr. Ali is a wonderful and caring physician, and I feel so lucky to be her patient. She has always taken such excellent care of me, and I trust her completely. As an RN, I have seen first hand how Dr. Ali cares for her patients when they are admitted to the hospital. In fact, she is one of the few doctors who still follows her patients when they are hospitalized instead of sending the hospitalist to see them. She genuinely cares for her patients, and she is a very kind and compassionate person. That is a big part of why I picked her to be my doctor. Dr. Ali literally saved my life. I have a heart condition and I had seen multiple doctors regarding problems with gaining fluid causing my heart to struggle. The first time I went to see Dr. Ali, within 5 minutes she had determined that I needed a strong course of medication in order to eliminate the fluid. I have been going to Dr. Ali for over 3 years now and she continues to pay close attention to the information she receives from me and tests that she orders. She is both professional and caring. I seen Dr ALi on Monday March 28th with blood in my urine, she did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to seek further investigation of why, didn't even take my temperature. I wound up in ER on Wednesday in extreme pain and and was diagnosed with a Bladder and Kidney infection, due to her lack of doctrine,, she could've prevented this and I suggest that you find another doctor she's HORRIBLE!!! read more

She is very unprofessional! My grandma, 85 years old was very sick with a bladder infection and she sent us to the ER at Huntington instead of calling and getting her a room. While at Huntington Dr.Ali was NO HELP At all, in fact she went on vacation and discharged my grandmother. My Grandma died because of Dr. Ali's negligence and the infection she caught at Huntington Hospital. I asked Dr. Ali "is my grandma going to die?" because of the 2 weeks she had gone down heel and the Dr. responded "why would she die?" Well she died! I reported her to the Medical Board and a year later, they found her to be at fault for two mishaps, but she needed to be at fault for THREE before the medical board would write her up or discipline her! AND she altered my Grandma's medical records to hide her mistakes! I was the "power of attorney" and Dr. Ali refused to give me her records, the medical board had to send for them and even then it took longer than usual to be received by the medical board again because of Dr. Ali's negligence. This woman has no heart, please do not send your elderly loved ones to Dr. Ali, I tried to stop her in 2008 when she neglected my Grandma, I'm sorry to hear she is still practicing medicine and has the same rude attitude with her patients...... read more
