Dr. Truong is incredibly kind and thoughtful in her approach, and I felt genuinely heard and like I'm in the right hands. Additionally, I had an issue with the lab that I went to for bloodwork stating that they had not received the correct orders from my doctor, but when I called the front office, Gloria stayed on the phone with me for almost an hour as I was waiting to be seen at the lab. She wanted to make sure I was able to get the test I needed before the lab closed that day. I am so grateful for their level of care.

I was having an infection; I couldn't get appt with my PCP in time so I decided to see one of the doctors there instead of going to an urgent care. Big mistake! After my visit (on a 3rd day), my infection was getting worse; however, I was not able to reach the doctor who saw and examined me because he had left for a vacation. Unfortunately, he had no backup plans for my infection despite knowing he was going to be on vacation the next day! Poor management part?! The nurse, Maria Mank, was covering for him while he's on vacation. Despite of the fact I had told her that my infection had gotten worse and office will be closed on the weekend, she decided that she wanted me to come in for another visit with her. Mind you, I have a job that I can't just leave. What's more, I just had an in-person visit there 2 days ago. Could she not read the note on my chart from Dr. John Wear?! She referred me to see a specialist! Seriously!? Would anyone wait to see a specialist in a few months while having an active infection? Frankly, I shouldn't have to pay for another visit when I just had one 2 days ago, Maria! I am in medical field so I know there are always alternatives when one med doesn't work. There're also 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line medications that any competent doctors would give patients when 1st line of treatment fails. Google is even more knowledgeable than her. Maria Mank had refused to prescribe any alternatives, and chose to have a patient suffer over the weekend instead. Hey Maria, do you think I'm going to abuse an antibiotic? I understand I would need a visit if I was seeking control substances. That was not the case. Her actions showed that she does not care about patients at all--she lacks empathy, professionalism, and most importantly competency! Avoid her! To the management at 65 N Madison office: Dr. Truong has been wonderful and she has nothing to do with this incident (Maria Mank is her nurse). The rep, Lilly, was also great as a messenger.

It saddens me to have to write this review, but I must. I saw this doctor yesterday, and several…read morethings concerned me: 1. Despite filling out, in the waiting room, a list of my current medications, the very first thing she did was start reading from a VERY old list of medications form my history, which she presumably got from a database. Of course I immediately told her that I no longer take the medications she was mentioning. I had to direct her to the form that her own staff had asked me to fill out. 2. Despite the above, she remained focused upon one particular medication that I haven't taken for at least 6 years. She incorrectly believed that that medication is only for diabetes. She asked me, "Are you diabetic?" I answered, "No." "Really? You aren't diabetic?" I was already annoyed to be asked the question again, but I answered no. Then she said, "But you took [name of medication], which suggests to me that you're diabetic. Are you sure?" At this point I was very annoyed. I said, "Ma'am, you've asked me the same question three times, and I've answered it the same way, each time. No matter how many times you ask me the question, the answer will be the same. You seem unaware that that medication has more than one use. It surprises me that you don't know that." (I then told her the other reason I was given that medication, years ago.) 3. A similar thing happened with one of my current medications. She saw the name and asked, "Are you HIV-positive." I said, "No, I'm not." This time, to avoid the "back and forth," I gave her the exact reason I'm taking that medication, which is taken by approximately half a million Americans. But she kept asking questions that indicated she knew nothing about that use, which is simply bizarre. You can't watch TV without seeing ads for it, and it's been that way for years. How does an American physician in 2024 NOT know about this? 4. Finally, she saw that I take medication for anxiety. Later, she asked what I do for a living. When I told her I work in entertainment, she replied, "Well, if you do something that's so much fun, why on earth are you anxious"? That question is disqualifying. This person has a medical degree and practices in the United States--yet has no CLUE what anxiety disorder is. She thinks that if you work in entertainment, your work must be nothing but "fun" (instead of extremely stressful, which is what it's actually like). Furthermore, my anxiety has nothing to do with my work. But she just assumed that one must be related to the other, which is a profoundly naive and presumptive position. I'm frankly STUNNED that this person was given a medical degree.
