It's typically expensive, but they validate! Also, visiting on a weekday afternoon, you're almost always able to find metered parking off the Olympic and Sawtelle intersection, you might have to cross the street, super easy. I love the lavender latte, it's my go-to. I have the vanilla and lavender syrups for at-home, which elevate my homemade cold brews or lattes so perfectly! I've just tried the super seasonal courtside latte in partnership with the LA Sparks (because I love them) and it was so tasty. The cookie crumbles add texture I never knew I needed in a latte, and complement the espresso so deliciously. It's a tad sweet but it's the perfect afternoon treat on a sunny day in LA. They also have the cutest seasonal merch for this partnership. I got the Alfred x Sparks cup because I had to, but there's also a hat and a keychain for sale as well. There is some construction outside which really kills the vibe so hopefully the construction is over soon . Went here New Year's Day and the staff was friendly. We ordered an iced lavender matcha and a hot lavender matcha. We matcha was made in bulk so we didn't see any whisking. My favorite Alfred Coffee is in Studio City, and I enjoy trying their other locations. The Sawtelle location was similar, with no inside seating. Unfortunately, being near a constant surge of cars, working or studying here is difficult. They have some seating outside, but the music is too loud to get work done. Wi-Fi was available and quick, which was one thing I enjoyed. They also allowed you to stay late / outside after closing hours, so long as the chairs were put back inside. And of course, the drink - going with my usual iced latte. They unfortunately ran out of whole milk, and having 2% milk in a latte hits different. For starters, it was fairly watery, lacking that creamy texture - to be expected. Nonetheless, their beans were good, and had it been whole milk, I think this drink had potential. Alfred Coffee in Sawtelle is one of my go-to spots when I need a change of scenery to get some work done. I stop by about once a month and always treat myself to a large hot lavender matcha latte and it's always smooth, fragrant, and just the right amount of sweet. The outdoor seating is a great place to settle in with a laptop and I really appreciate how strong and reliable the Wi-Fi is. My only gripe is that the chairs are a bit too tall for the tables making it less ergonomic for working comfortably. As for the food, the options are definitely on the pricier side but I suppose that's part of the Alfred experience...you seem to be paying for the aesthetic and the ambiance. I'm a big fan of this location on Olympic. Come here quite frequently actually. Somehow, Alfred loves to open coffee shops in spots with as little parking as possible but this branch has some parking, at least. Everyone's pretty friendly and the coffee is always great. I will go as far as to say that Alfred serves the best espresso in LA right now. I think how well they froth milk is what especially stand out for me. I do agree with others about the syrups though. Everything is overly sweet! Other than regular cappuccinos and lattes I can't have any other drinks as they are pretty disgusting. The staff is always professional, kind, and respectful--whether it's with online orders, walk-ins, or even taking care of some of the local homeless in the neighborhood. This review is especially about Faith. One day I helped walk out a homeless man who was having a rough time, and Faith kindly comped my coffee. Little did she know, I could barely afford one that day, and her gesture truly blessed me. She was so sweet and genuine, and in that moment she restored my faith in people (no pun intended). Grabbed their Iced World Famous Vanilla Latte with oat milk and Their Ice Matcha Latte with Coconut Milk and Vanilla Cold Foam. Honestly, I should've ordered the Iced Matcha with oat milk. I didn't prefer it with the coconut milk, so I'm not sure what it's potential could be. However, their Iced Vanilla Latte is a solid choice if you don't know what to order. There's an outdoor table thing, but it's more of a grab and go type spot. Parking is also tricky here. It's either free parking on top, paid parking in the bottom lot, or paid street metered parking. Pretty convenient location with a number of parking lots on the same block. But there's limited table seating (maybe can seat 5?) and a long bench to sit at so not my ideal place to linger and chat with a friend. I got the iced Vanilla Latte with whole milk. They put enough syrup to erase most of the coffee flavor so I wouldn't order it again for a coffee fix. For the price and level of sweetness, I'll probably just get a boba next time. Our family visited this weekend with extended family and all of our 6 drinks were well executed! It's also nice to walk into an establishment where you are greeted with smiles, which is what we received from each of the three staff members. My questions regarding their two chai drinks (Rose cardamom and regular chai) were thoroughly answered and in the end, I was very satisfied with their regular chai (which is made from concentrate and has a delightful kick!) I've come here 3 times since they've opened. Each time the coffee has been consistent and good. I just get an almond milk latte, nothing fancy. The workers are friendly enough and they are quick with the coffee orders, although I've never been there when it's busy so I can't speak to how it is during a rush. To date, I have purchased oat milk lattes at various Alfred locations at 60 times in the past 12 months and drink it almost every day at my office. Each time, I've enjoyed an excellent cup of coffee. i believe that the beverage is excellent for the following reasons: 1. Short answer - it's the beans, baby. Whoever set the specifications for roasting did an awesome job. 2 Preparing the lattes - The lattes are completely solid at the 4 locations that I have frequented. I'm speculating that the training is excellent because the lattes are super solid every time around. Additional point - - Jamie and the staff at the Olympic/Sawtelle are friendly, polite, attentive, and efficient. It is always a pleasure to start my day with an excellent latte at that location. One additional point - - when I needed to make a special request, the team connected me with Jordin, the Director of Food and Beverage.
