Pizza was well cooked with a great crust. Madeline and her brother Kyle were fantastic hosts with big smiles and bright personalities. The colorful Peruvian art on the walls brightened the look of the place and personalized it well. I appreciated their kindness despite stopping in 30" before closing. Really enjoyed this place while visiting the area. It was late and we ordered while driving to the restaurant; it was ready within minutes of our arrival. We each had a different salad. Greek - really enjoyed by my Aunt English - it had dehydrated apples and toast beacons that were wonderful, my wife enjoyed. Chef - I really enjoyed the very quality ham. I was very surprised how good it was. We shared a cordon blue pizza; it did not disappoint. Delicious! And some of grandmas bread. We will be back next time! This is a classic haunt in my fiancé's hometown. Used to be owned by a Peruvian fellow (Alfonso) who served an eclectic mix of Peruvian, American, and Asian food options. From what I understand, someone who worked with him for years recently purchased the restaurant as Alfonso retired and chose to keep that food tradition up and the accompanying Peruvian art on the walls. Let's start with the great things about Alfonso's: The service is attentive and quick, characteristic of the small-town joint it is. There is plenty of space in the dining room for large gatherings of 15 or small seatings of two. Finally, their deep dish pizza is great. During dinner, they stick to their more traditional Italian-American fare. We ordered calzones with spinach, ground beef, bell peppers, onions, and jalapeño. I did not enjoy this order and will stick to their pizzas from now on. The ground beef tasted like it was barely salted let alone seasoned well, the onions were raw inside, and the majority of the insides were Spinach which made for an ill-balanced filling. Clearly will be back given that it is one of few options in town. read more

Went there for lunch for the first time and it was fantastic! Delicious and service was friendly! Buffalo chicken pizza was awesome! We each got salads, I got the Mandarin walnut salad and it was delicious! Service was so good in fact that I accidentally left my fork on the plate when I gave her my salad plate. On her way back to the table was a new fork, without even having to ask. It's just the attention to detail that puts some places above others! read more

For whatever reason people may come to Carrollton, IL, they almost always come back for Alfonso's pizza. First things first, Alfonso is from Peru, not Italy, but he can make a mean pizza-pie. Expect a lot of locals and possibly an entire little league team to be here on any given night. Aside from awesome pizza, Alfonso's also has great salads, sandwiches, and calzones. The inside is not the biggest, but is certainly a lot bigger than it used to be since Alfonso expanded to the shop next door. The staff is almost all local youth though, so don't expect amazing service. If you REALLY need a refill, just walk up to the counter, and they will be happy to get it for you. read more

Every time I come to Alfonso's, (before and during the pandemic) I have never been disappointed! Whether when they were open for dine-in or when I get carry out, the pizza is always so fresh and delicious. The wait isn't even long at all, it's typically average for me (15-30min) so I would definitely recommend trying this place if you haven't already! :) read more

Our favorite pizza by far. Deep dish or hand tossed we love it. Great service even when there crazy busy ( which is how it usually is)! We call in our order on our way from Grafton and then are seated with our pizza in short order. Owners are almost always here and greeting us. My husband decided to try this place after the recommendation "It is the best pizza I have ever had". Challenge excepted. While it isn't the BEST pizza we ever ate (Papa Dell's in Champaign, IL still holds that title), It is still a very good pie! The sauce was a little sweet to me, and they didn't stuff it with toppings like I had hoped, but that could be why it didn't take as long to bake either. We got a order of Cheesy Garlic Bread, a small Stuffed Chicago Style pizza, and I got a Chef Salad, my husband got the Summertime Salad. Both were pleased with the salads and enjoyed the bread too. It did surprise me the Chef Salad had salami instead of turkey. I am not a fan of Salami, but in a salad, it was good. read more

This was a huge surprise and one of the best pizzas I have ever had. The owner is so nice and an amazing cook and actually comes to the tables to say hello to his dinner guests. Everything was cooked perfectly, very fresh- the restaurant is clean and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Looking forward to coming back for lunch to try some of Alonso's traditional Cantonese dishes. This is a good pizza. It's not the best I have ever had, but still good. My favorite thing about Alfonzo's is that they cut the pizza into rectangles and not wedges. This is awesome because if you time your pizza grabbing right you can get the center most cheesy pieces and not have to eat any crust! Delicious!!! read more

Alfonso's is a great local restaurant with fantastic food! Best deep dish pizza I've had outside of Chicago! The spaghetti and meatballs are delicious, as are the salads and garlic bread. The large salad is a meal in itself and the small salad overflows the bowl, plenty to be sure! Highly recommend! read more

They pizza there is the best around. I come from Bethalto just to get some. The toppings are plentiful and they use fresh mushrooms, the cheese is thick and the crust is delicious. The servers are quick too wait on you and are always friendly. read more

Alfonzo's in Carrollton, IL has some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. There is just no comparison with the chain stores. We have several pizza places in our town, but we will drive to Alfonzo's for theirs. The Monster and the Cheese Burger are the two we typically get. However, they also make some lighter pizzas that, although I am a meat lover, I have tried and enjoyed the flavors. If you don't give it a try, you are missing out. read more

I tend to apply my ratings in context, and so while Alfonso's isn't going head-to-head with the likes of Alinea, it's an awesome destination for what is an inherently under-served part of the state. Here you can indeed get some great pizza that compares with any Chicago pies, but you can also order off the menu and the gracious, big-hearted owner and well-travelled chef will make it for you if he's got the ingredients and is not otherwise swamped with customers. It's pretty shocking to walk into a pizza place in mid-state Illinois and find mango salad, but that's the kind of special touch Alfonso wants to share with his community, and they are clearly grateful which you can tell from all the friendly greetings and plain busy-ness of the joint.
