I went for the Redbird Club on multigrain bread this time around. A simple yet delicious sandwich was presented and quickly devoured. Then one day, as I went to a business next door, I saw the word Tempura on their windows. That opened the opportunity for me to consider them for a meal. My first visit I tried their Fried Calamari and the Beef Fried Rice. Both were outstanding. The Calamari was better than some of the Calamari that I have had at a sit-down restaurant. Going forward, when I am craving some Fried Rice, I'll be ordering it from, Toko Sushi. My second visit, I enjoyed the Deep Fried Crab Jalapeño and an order of Chicken Teriyaki. Both were outstanding. I learned that I didn't need both. They were large portions, the Jalapeño appetizer can easily be a meal for me. The chicken with the Teriyaki was tender and flavorful. I dealt with two different cashiers on my visits and both were extremely professional. I was impressed with the food and service. The other day I was going on a Fall Foliage Tour of the Riverroad and hadn't had breakfast. The batter covering the catfish was very thin, so the true flavor of the river fish came through. I was totally satisfied. I kinda wish I would have gotten fries, too, but the fritters did fill me up for a small lunch. Everything at O-Jan's is made to order, so it is super fresh. If you don't have patience to wait a few extra minutes for quality fried fish, you may want to elsewhere. O-Jan's is a cash only establishment, so be sure to have your Hamilton's or Jackson's ready. You'll order at a small window on the side porch, they'll call your name when it is ready and you can enjoy it on one of their picnic tables, or go on your merry way. It was so disappointing, that I didn't even eat it all. I threw half of it away and I rarely waste food. My Two Plate was a Pork Steak and Brisket, with Smokehouse Beans and Spicy Cheese Corn. The Pork Steak was good, but the Brisket was dried and tough. The Smokehouse Beans have disappointed me before, but I wanted to give them another chance. Again, they were to runny and had not enough seasoning to give them pizzaz. Their Spicy Cheese Corn was just okay, it was cheesy, but did no live up to the "Spicy" name. What was most disappointing was the customer service. The young lady taking my order was friendly and professional, so she gets a thumbs up. The disappointment came when I was presented my order at the counter. As I waited for my for to be prepared I took a stool at the counter, just down from the register. When it was ready, the owner brought it out and dropped the bag in front of me and turned to walk away. No thank-you, no nothing. I had to speak first, to get response and it was just faint grunt. It is a sad day when a business owner cannot thank a customer for supporting his business.
