I was looking to replace a 36 year old water heater with a tankless system. From the first meeting…read moreto discuss the project, Greg impressed me with his expertise-- warning me off from some pitfalls other plumbers hadn't mentioned and discussing different options for improving the system. As the project went on, his skill and work ethic only became clearer. He came up with creative solutions to help me work within my budget constraints, and when my house's ancient plumbing made new problems, he came by for an additional, unscheduled day and worked long hours to install a new valve that would improve the water flow and heat. The system he installed works great, and I would rate his work five stars for that alone. But for the sheer amount of time and effort he put in (at no additional charge!) to tackle problems left by previous imperfect plumbing and neglect? I'd rate him ten stars out of five if I could. Greg (and second Greg!) did an amazing job with my project. And throughout it all, he was honest, clear, and incredibly diligent about his work. I'd recommend this business for any and all plumbing needs.

Greg was able to address the leak and later installed a new water heater, which was a life saver with the family SIP and needing hot water, not to mention a dry garage floor! Poseidon Plumbing did a great job and I highly recommend them. David, Jax and Lucas replaced parts…read moreto fix several leaks. When two small leaks remained, David took the time to thoroughly diagnose the issue, returning multiple times, calling the manufacturer, testing water pressures, and carefully troubleshooting until he found and repaired the root cause. His expertise saved us tens of thousands of dollars by diagnosing the actual problem instead of jumping to a costly conclusion. Jax even handled the required tile trimming. It's a pleasure to find a company dedicated to doing the job right at a fair price instead of taking the easy way out. If you're looking for honest, knowledgeable plumbers who truly stand behind their work, and will be as careful with your home as if it were their own, I highly recommend Dave and his team at Poseidon Plumbing.

The second time around, not upset it took two days, not upset it leaked, but what I was upset about…read morewas two things, one I am forbidden to mention as my source does not want this story to be told, but it solidified I hired the wrong human. The second issue which I can recount, is the cost was 856.84 thereabout for one faucet and the plumbing under the two cast iron sinks. Once you go past a certain price, you legally have to have a contractors license, and the scalping was over the legal limit. I read with great interest that the DA is closing in on unlicensed renegades over charging. I am sad to report this. As many one stars I give, I never like doing it, but at times it has to be done. When is a contractor's license required in California? According to state law, it is illegal for an unlicensed contractor to advertise as being licensed or contract for work exceeding $500 in value for labor and materials.Dec 16, 2012

The tenants were very pleased, as was I. i had no idea that a plumber could provide the tank for less than HD delivery and there was no waiting for it; cost would have been the same. He was professional, communicated clearly, and sent me pictures of the finished work. I highly recommend him. John also did the sewer clean out and reconnection the City requires for the sale of a home there several years ago, and did a great job. That job required cutting concrete and then repairing the driveway once the plumbing was addressed.

I was referred to Duncan Plumbing by my quartz countertop and tile installer. Looking back, I…read moreshould have trusted my instincts and called the Scotts Valley plumber I had successfully used in the past. I scheduled Duncan Plumbing to come out two days after my new quartz countertops and floor tile were installed. They were originally scheduled for Wednesday, but on Tuesday they called and said they had a larger job and needed to move my appointment to Thursday. I agreed, but made it very clear that Thursday could not change because I was having a full knee replacement on Friday. The plumber arrived on Thursday, and we walked through my list of projects. After reviewing everything, he went to his truck to prepare an estimate. When he returned, he started by telling me it would cost over $200 just to install a $35 bidet attachment on one of my toilets. At that point, I told him to forget all of the smaller miscellaneous items and instead provide pricing for only the essentials: Reinstall one toilet in the guest bathroom Reinstall the double-sink faucets and plumbing in the primary bathroom Reinstall the kitchen faucet and garbage disposal The estimate for just those three jobs was $2,000. I was shocked. Based on my past experience, plumbers typically charge an hourly rate, and this quote simply wasn't justified. I asked him to wait while I called my regular plumber in Scotts Valley for comparison. He said he would also call his manager. When I came back outside, he asked what my other plumber was going to charge. I told him I still needed to send photos before they could provide an estimate. He simply stated that Duncan's pricing was comparable to other plumbers and made no attempt to adjust the quote. It honestly felt like they knew I was under a tight deadline because of my surgery and were hoping I would have no choice but to accept the inflated price. I declined the work and told him I would be writing a negative review. Apparently that message reached management, because a woman from the company tried to contact me afterward to "make things right." In my opinion, making it right should have happened while the plumber was still at my house after he spoke with his manager--not after I had already sent him away. By the way, my previous plumber ended up going me a quote for the exact same work for less than half of Duncan Plumbing's price. Out of curiosity, I also researched typical plumbing costs using ChatGPT (see attached screenshot), and those estimates further confirmed just how inflated Duncan Plumbing's quote was. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Duncan Plumbing. I understand that every company has different pricing, but charging nearly double what another reputable local plumber quoted for the same work felt excessive and disappointing, especially given my time-sensitive situation.
