And not for the sake of being friendly because it's good for business, but genuinely that small town friendliness that makes small, independent joints like this an absolute pleasure to visit. The place was very clean, and well lit, it was spacious, and there was plenty of good seating. Being I was at The Dawg House, I opted for Hot Dogs and Onion Rings, though they did have many other options on the menu. Let me say, these were some of the best hot dogs I've had in a long time! I tried two different hot dogs (both were the Puppy Dawg, the smaller sized version) one with ketchup and mustard, and the other with chili, cheese and onions. Both were absolutely fantastic with a full robust flavor. The ketchup and mustard brought out the flavor of the hot dog in one way, while the chili, cheese and onions brought it out in a different way. I must also make a note that the chili they topped the dog with had a great seasoning, and was balanced beautifully with just the right level of "kick". The onion rings turned out to be an unexpected treat as they were cooked crisp, but not overdone without being drenched in grease. They were done to perfection. If you're passing through Prineville Oregon, and need a place to get a bite, The Dawg House is sure to please your appetite, and give you a dose of great small town charm.
