I treated my 85-year-old dad to "the works," and it turned out to be so much more than just a haircut. Hollz has created a true gem--an old-school barbershop experience with modern kindness and charm. My dad was very resistant at first (his idea of a treat is Supercuts), but this was full-on pampering: haircut, shave, hot towels--the works. ‍ And Hollz? She's the best part. * Warm, fun, incredibly personable--and meticulous with every detail--she made him feel like a million bucks. * She really knows her craft. She has all the right tools and knew exactly how to work with older skin, even skipping the straight razor to avoid irritation. * Her communication was great--we had to reschedule once and were late the day of, and she handled it all with grace. * You can tell she genuinely cares. She took her time, put him at ease, and even brought me into the process by explaining what she was doing. It felt like a celebration, not an errand. First of all, my husband says that Lily is nice. The problem is the haircut and the business. My husband ended up basically paying *not* to get his hair cut because Lily did not listen to his requests just to cut his hair - nothing fancy! So he had to stop her from doing everything that he didn't want her to do. Then, she pestered him to take photos of him to promote her business. No. Just No. More problematically, when we went to book the appointment online, the website required that we agree to save our credit card not just for payment but *for future transactions*. We did not want to leave our information with this business. So I called to ask if we could make the appointment over the phone without leaving it. Lily told me the credit card information was just for the one-time charge, not as described online. She lied to me. When my husband requested that she remove our credit card information after paying for the appointment, Lily said she couldn't do that, and we'd have to go through Square. I am on the line with Square right now, who have advised me that they usually ask people to resolve issues directly with the vendor, who can simply remove client information from their Square dashboard (which Lily claimed she couldn't do). So Lily lied. Again. Just getting a bad haircut is all part of trying out a new barber. But this? No thank you.

Boy, am I glad I did! Sandra truly is a "shear joy" and an excellent stylist as well as a very nice lady. There is no comparison between the personal, friendly service she provides and the "cattle call", impersonal corporate shops found in malls and shopping centers. I don't have a lot of hair to work with but she did a great job, and my hair has gown back very evenly and still looks good. Heck, I can even wear a hat and not have "hat hair" when I remove it!
