We found Cody's after my son got a botched haircut. Issam was kind enough to squeeze us in and made us feel extremely welcome. Although I thought my son's hair was hopeless, Issam was a true hair hero! My ninth grade son now said he refuses to ever let anyone else touch his hair again! Issam gave him a gorgeous, truly impeccable cut. Issam has an impressive amount of experience under his belt and is a true artist. He will stop and look at the shape of your face and make the cut so flattering. I've gone to extremely high end "fancy" salons for over 20 years, but after this experience with my son, I decided to have Issam cut my hair as well. Issam did what other stylists in the past could not do. He made my straight platinum blonde hair look exactly like the pictures I brought in. For the first time, my hair is a gorgeous masterpiece. I haven't had anyone cut my hair for over 18 months when I decided to try Cody's Haircuts. Haircuts are always scary for me because if they mess up or you don't like it, its probably not easily correctable. Thankfully my hair grows fast so the risk isn't as great, but I work in a professional environment so it is still scary. After debating between a couple places I decided to work with Cody. Cody is incredibly communicative. When I came in, he asked what I was looking for. After cutting my hair myself for over a year, I told him to do whatever he felt would look good. He's the professional, not me. My only guidelines is that it still had to look mature enough for my professional job. He asked for some guidelines and I told him the only reason I wanted my haircut was because I found my long hair unmanageable. He took that in and said he could make me a look where my long, thick hair could be a part of the style while still being low maintenance. Boy did he pull it off. It was close, but it was the best haircut I have ever gotten. I have never gotten a haircut that made me look so good with long hair! I am totally thrilled. I've been getting my beard trimmed in the city for years. It's a process. Moved to San Rafael in 2018 and going to my favorite barber in the city became a little harder so I eventually just started letting it go. I looked like a black Jeremiah Johnson (look it up, kids). I eventually would have to just shave it all off and start over. Well I met Cody at a function in December and after talking it up for a bit he eventually told me that he cuts hair. I asked if he does beard work/shape ups, he said yes and here we are. I and most brothas don't let just anyone touch their beard, it's serious business. But I trusted Cody and I couldn't have been happier. Went back for a second time a couple days ago. I have went to 6 different Hairstylists/Barbers in Marin since we moved here and I have yet to find someone that is a pro at doing a perfect "fade". My son has had some awful cuts ‍until I came across Cody through recommendations on google. I called him to make an appt. as there were reviews that he was the Barber to go to for a fade. He was very pleasant and accommodating. He got my son in right away. He knew exactly what I wanted and my son. Hands down the best Barber I have come across. I won't go to anyone else. Even if we are desperate we will wait for him. I also love the fact he communicates well with texting which makes it easier for me when I'm running around with the rest of my kiddos. I can text him and ask for a time and he is the best at accomodationg so I don't have to sit and revolve my entire day around a haircut. He is a perfectionist at my sons hair. It's quite difficult to find someone who knows how to work with them, Cody talked with me and was able read my curls like a book. Cody has been cutting my hair for about 10 years - back to the days when he worked in SF. I drive from Oakland to see him every 3 weeks. It is rare to find someone who can do a meticulous, symmetric cut these days, but Cody excels at it. I am white, but he also cuts my African American son's hair, and he (my son) refuses to let anyone else touch his head. I don't tip in general, but I always give Cody extra. I know I would have to pay three times more for this quality of cut in the city. read more
