Probably the worst t experience I have ever had with a barber, The owner of the shop where I usually go to was out of town and I needed a trim and this was nearby so I figured, " how bad can it be." II all you want us if for someone to cut your hair really short all over your head you may be happy here. I am old and want to keep as much hair on my head and possible, and just wanted a trim, and told the haircutter, who had just been sitting there in the open chair, that i would show him a picture of what I wanted it to look like. But Facebook has been making changes to their design again and I could not find the picture for the longest time, even though it was my profile pix until a month ago. I could tell the hairdresser was getting annoyed, asking me.to just look at the pictures on the wall, all people with really short hair, which should have been my clue that I was in the wrong place but there was no on else waiting for a cut so I just told him no and kept looking until I found it. It It shows fullness on the side and back, just clean and not scraggly a look he is totally unfamiliar with. He stared at it and said he would make me look just like it the picture, so onwards. Pulls out a big razor and begin to make wholesale cuts which is making me nervous. No trimming scissors.. It began to look flat on the sides and I said "I think you re cutting it too short." "No he said, I'm making it just like the picture. " I said it looks too short, which just made him angrier, which made me more and more upset. By then he had pretty much butchered it. I felt the back of my head where the hair was now much too short, and told him so. I asked to see a mirror so I could see the back, which pissed me off and my reaction just make him even angrier,. At that I said, I'm through and stood up to leave, telling him he should give a customer what they want not want not what he thinks it should look like and gave him.a $20 expecting he would give me $3 in change, which I was planning to give him back as a tip even though he didn't deserve one. Instead he just put it away as if he had it coming. I told him to keep the change and stormed out of the shop. He is rude, does not not listen to his customers, and does know how to do anything other than chop your hair off short. Unless that's all you want you should avoid this place like the plague. read more

Alright for starters the cut is $19, I couldn't find that on yelp right away. Now flat out, the man is legit. If you're looking for a clean fade, this is your guy, I need my cut to be looking fresh weekly for my job and since I get them pretty often $19 really keeps my money in my pocket. Other barbers around town charge you $45-$65 and don't even get you a fade close to this guys! Trust me I've tried everything from super cuts to highly reputable barbers and this cut surpassed my expectations by a long shot. No problem except no apology or acknowledgement, that I drove there and was told he does not do women's hair. I would have liked to have had an apology. My experience, I saw decent yelp reviews only 8 really so I thought screw it and went. They only take cash or check by the way. So I went in got a very crappy amateur haircut by the older Asian guy, and I think he just wanted to give me his same stupid haircut. I had to ask him to redo things an he would say "no no that's fine how it's is"...... I have been going here for 5 years getting my hair cut, and my son's hair cut. Over the years Don the older guy always did a good job and his assistant did an OK job. About 6 months ago Don got a new assistant. I went there to get my son's hair cut and Don was working on someone else, so he rudely motioned my son to his new assistant. It was a bit strange because Don knows us by name. His assistant give my son no less than a butcher job of his hair it was the worst hair cut my son has ever had and it took 2 months to grow out and start to look normal again. After 5 years it only takes one major screw up to loose us as customers. It's a bummer that I don't fell good about going here anymore. If you go never have Don's assistant cut your hair. read more

If this is the same tiny barber shop across from San Rafael High School, and its run by an older asian and a younger asian male, then this is the one I'm talking about. If the older guy cuts your hair, thats good. If the younger guy directs you to HIS chair, then walk out the door. He has no idea what he's doing, and doesn't understand or speak english. It's pretty much just hand gestures, and him shaking his head up and down as though he understands. I just spent twelve dollars for a lousy haircut. I'd have gotten more satisfaction burning the $$$$ instead. Worst haircut I ever got. Ever. It looks like he didn't even touch my hair. I'm not going there again. I'm on a budget & I had a hard time finding reviews for haircutting/styling other than at the high end of the scale. There were good reviews for this guy from three years ago, but nothing much recent. I hadn't had a haircut since a winter wedding many months ago, and I clearly needed a trim before appearing on television (or, frankly, in public whatsoever - things were getting a little Early Modern Era for my taste). I should mention that my hair & I are in an ongoing pitched battle, the only casualty of which thus far has been my hairline; thus, I am naturally a bit pessimistic about all things tonsorial. In this case, however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that sometimes you get more than you expect, even when paying less than you're used to. In short: eleven dollars (which is, what, SuperCuts prices circa 1995?) buys you a gent's cut & dry with little wait & a feeling in the meantime that you're somewhere in the Midwest in the 60's, relaxing on the indoor park benches that serve as the waiting area of this tiny, tiny barber-shop tiled in black & white. It used to be a good haircut at a good price. The last time they had a new barber and it was a mediocre cut. He also let me wait for five minutes while he was finishing the haircut he was working on. When he was finished another man walked in and the barber just rudely pointed at him without saying a word. The self-important customer announced that he was first because he had come to the shop without cash and had left to get some. Although we have used Top Cuts for many years and appreciated their low price and quick service, we will never go there again after a terrible experience with the owner last week. My 13 year old son biked there alone for only the second time. The owner said twice - once to his son and then to a customer - that he "won't cut this boy's hair again because he doesn't tip!" My son was humiliated and very upset. The fact that we have tipped all these years is immaterial. Someone willing to harass a child like that should not be working with kids. read more

I have been using for many years. I always specify "Don" the owner - manager, which does not seem to perturb his younger assistant who has been around for a few years, (and with whom others seem satisfied when I have been there), I have seen women and children in addition to men in the shop. He charges much less in this Spartan setting then cuts in much fancier venues. If he is away only use his regular younger assistant, not any substitute. Don't be put off by Don's occasional dour mien or abruptness if you encounter it. He will warm up. Bring something to read if it is possible you might have to wait. My only objection is the background music, the volume of which he has lowered when I requested. Also ask Don how he would "code" a haircut you find satisfactory from him, e.g. 1 for the beard, 1 on top, 2 on the side etc.Note the code and if he is away on vacation give this to the younger assistant. read more
