I was to receive a head-to-toe skin exam because of my history of melanoma.
This exam took about 8 minutes. I asked if he could check my scalp. He sat down on a stool and replied, "I tell my patients to have their hair dresser check their scalp." In the time it took him to explain to me why he doesn't check scalps, he could have examined mine.
I, also, have an auto-immune disease which can affect the (let's say) "lower" half of my body. (I had no idea this was going to be a part of the exam.) When he heard this he perked right up, had me lay down with my feet in stirrups, and then he sat at the end of the exam chair and assisted me in taking off my underwear. He took pictures. This was an out-of-body experience for me.
