I drove 50 minutes to Alexander Hats--not sure what to expect. I needed a fedora for a NYE party. I am so glad I went! While Eastridge Mall is on the decline, this hat shop is worth visiting. Keith Christmas, the owner, (yes that is really his name) is amazing. I left with two fedoras--and a lesson on fedoras end to end--how to wear, shape, color combos, etc. I will be back! My son recently purchased a hat from an on-line seller. When received, the hat size was not exactly as it had been advertised. My son asked, "What should I do"? The word "haberdashery" came to mind. My initial on-line search resulted in an array of options, not all anywhere near a "men's clothing, headwear and accessory store". My committed search to assist my son landed on this business, ALEXANDER HATS. I made a phone call and spoke with Keith. I described the condition and we discussed a few solutions. I was invited to bring the hat to the store which I did the next day. While I appreciated Keith's courtesy during our call, meeting with him was an even more enjoyable experience. Keith immediately recognized the hat's manufacturer, understood the condition and practically accepted this challenge as if this was his own hat. A true "artisan" approach that is seldom found in retailing today. Keith was able to stretch the hat enough to increase the size without damaging the hat in any way. He assured me that if this didn't affect the hat size for my son, bring it back for a more extensive adjustment. Keith did not ask for a fee as a result of this minor adjustment. As a token appreciation, I promised to write this "yelp" review to share my experience. If needed, I will return to Alexander Hats, gladly. Thank you, Keith! read more

Great store if you're looking for fedoras. The sales rep at Jos A Bank recommended we stop by. Keith is the owner. He is very personable, was able to size me up visually, and makes his own hats. He is from New York and has been making hats for 50 years. While he didn't have the correct size hat for me, he is customizing one and I'll pick it up next week. Took a little ride down to Gastonia purely based on the reviews to buy a hat for my father for Christmas...it was definitely worth it! I can't recall if anyone mentioned that most of the hats in the store are made by the owner! I was so impressed to see (visibly used)sewing machines in the store!
