Dr. Alexander himself is a remarkably skilled and competent physician. My husband and I have seen him over the years, but after enduring a complete nightmare with his front office staff, I chose to go elsewhere for my total knee replacement. A recent experience proved these administrative issues are ongoing and deeply concerning. My husband was recently in a severe bike accident requiring a 5 day hospital stay. Upon discharge, the hospitalist instructed him to follow up with his orthopedic surgeon regarding unexplained shoulder pain. When my husband called to schedule an evaluation, the front office staff flatly refused to book an appointment. One staff member dismissed the request because it was his "first week," and had to check with somebody else, who got on the phone to say Dr. Alexander wouldn't see him and would likely "refer him out"--all without even consulting the doctor. When my husband pointed out that Dr. Alexander is listed as a trauma surgeon on their website, the staff member simply gave a flat "no." As a healthcare professional, I find this level of gatekeeping disgraceful. Front desk staff should never make clinical decisions or deny care to an established patient after a major trauma. Dr. Alexander is a great physician, but his administrative team is actively turning away patients and damaging his reputation--including with partners like a local motocross team, with whom we ride, and will be notifying. If you need an orthopedic surgeon, you need both a skilled doctor and a competent office team to help navigate your care. Dr. Alexander, please educate your staff; you are losing long-term patients over their refusal to do their jobs. I really can't imagine that you would be happy knowing this. read more

Dr. Alexander is one of the best doctors I've ever met. I had a fracture in my foot, and the urgent care nurse practitioner said I would likely need surgery. I called several orthopedic surgeons to try to get an appointment, but Dr. Alexander was the only one willing to fit me into his busy schedule within a couple of days. Everywhere else had a 3-4 week wait. Right away, I could tell this place truly cares. When I met Dr. Alexander, he was kind, compassionate, and honest. He took the time to thoroughly explain my injury, treatment options, and what to expect. I was so relieved that we were able to go with a non-surgical treatment--just a cast! I could tell that he avoids unnecessary or invasive procedures and genuinely wants patients to receive the care they need in the most affordable way possible. He even suggested ordering a walking boot on Amazon to save money. I really appreciated how much he and his staff cared and how friendly they were throughout the whole process. I'll admit I was a little nervous beforehand because I had seen some negative reviews, but I'm so glad I found this place. Thank you so much! My elderly parents listened to their elderly friends and visited Dr. Alexander after my dad took a fall. The surgical process is similar to something you might see in a very low income area where patients are lined up in folding chairs along a wall and wait for the assembly line procedure. The post-op was scary in that they were pushing people out who clearly needed further monitoring. I'm a nurse so at least my dad had me to complete his recovery at home but likely other patients did not. There was very limited aftercare instructions and no follow-up. After 4 months he still had no use of his shoulder so we took him to a surgeon at Sharp San Diego and the surgeon there said he hadn't seen the procedure used on my dad used in 20 years. The entire rotator cuff is destroyed and we recently had a reverse shoulder joint replacement to attempt to fix the damage caused by the first surgery. read more

I had a full knee replacement with Dr. Alexander 5 years ago and everything went well. Today I went in for my shoulder and he made me feel like I just saw him yesterday. When he came into the room I was in, he had already looked at my x-rays and knew exactly what was wrong. I must say I really like Dr Alexander. Very knowledgeable caring Dr. I hate to even write this review. :( However the office staff is horrible. I was all set up for surgery, so I thought. I called 2 weeks prior to confirm and no one called me back I tried 6 more times within a 2 week period and not 1 call back. I had already requested the time off work. After the surgery date had passed I got a return call that the office manager was on vacation for 2 weeks. Well I guess that's nice to know now? I'm not sure why no one could have let me know when I left 6 messages my surgery was postponed because the office manager was on vacation? I lost all confidence in this office. What if I would have had complications after surgery and no one could communicate for 2 weeks, ugh! I called trying to make an apt with Dr. Alexander but the front receptionist...I think her name was Patricia.? is really scatter brained. She doesn't seem to know what she is doing. Wasn't sure what insurances they take, told me she was gonna transfer me to someone else since she was busy and put me on hold then never got back to me. AND THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. I felt like she was distracted or really new and not trained well. WORST!! He misdiagnosed me - said I had Frost Bite on my knee after he did my Left Knee Surgery 6 years ago. Found out I have permanent Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) / Nerve Damage caused by the surgery. On 2 occasions I have contacted this office at around 1145 to 1200 and someone answers (every time), and says "just a moment, I'll be right with you". Then guess what they fricken go to their lunch. Had an appointment for 8AM, got a call 3 days earlier to remind me and tell me to show up 15/20 earlier to fill up paperwork. I showed up as I was told at 7:45AM BUT office's door are locked until 8AM (???). Doors opened at 8 went in and spent 10 minutes or so filling out paperwork then I was "invited" to wait in the "smaller room".....FOR 1 and 1/2 HOURS and the GENIUS NEVER SHOWED UP!!!!!!!! The lack of respect for one's time seems to be MUCH LESS important than THIS ASSHOLE'S time, so needless to say I LEFT and HAVE POSTED/REVIEWED this experience WITH EVERYONE I KNOW, INCLUDING MY OWN PERSONAL DOCTOR, which originally recommended this office!!!! Let's just say Dr Alexander is AMAZING!!!!! I am so happy I waited 2 weeks to get in to see him for my HIP and that he fixed me right up. My first time seeing Dr Alexander I sat in the waiting for an hour past my appt time. Then after being put in an exam room I spent 45 minutes waiting for the doctor. Maybe it was just a bad day? All I can say is great doctor and surgeon . Our son broke his scaphoid had to have a pin put in due to the long healing time and possibility of non union. The surgery went great, hand healed fast , scar is clean.back on his dirt bike and no issues after just 6 weeks. Not sure why all the complaints. My experience with his staff was great. The worst customer service. First, I have the best medical insurance that will pay for just about anything. I. Not used to taking a side step for a medical office. I called four times and left a message no return call. I physically drove to the office only to be greeted by a incompetent staff. The front desk made the appointment, only to cancel me and reschedule three times. I understand the physician has "surgeries". Then don't schedule on office day. It was the holidays and everyone was trying to clear there schedule. Understandable, however I had the appointment for three weeks. When I arrived for my appointment the first time ,That was changed by the staff, I left. Doctor was in surgery and they didn't know when he would finish. I finally was seen a week later and rushed around by a busy doctor playing catch up.The app wasn't clear with instructions and staff wasn't knowledgeable enough to walk anyone through it. I saw Dr. Alexander last month in April around the 3rd week, it was noted that I was going to need surgery. I conducted a chest X-ray and got a copy of my EKG report and went down there in person to deliver it! It's been almost 3 weeks and haven't heard from them or nothing. ' I called them yesterday to find out my status and whom ever I talked to seem disinterested and passed me along to someone else, like it's not my job and I don't care! Was suppose to get a phone call today and up to this point never got a phone by anyone! I also told him I had been seen for my wrists previously and I was told they were destroyed and inoperable also that if I pushed open Swinging Doors with my hands the next day I would be in excruciating pain ! Again I asked him to write prescriptions for my wrists ! AGAIN HE REFUSED TO WRITE PRESCRIPTIONS - - - WTF - - - I was told by staff I would have an hour consultation within 15 to 20 minutes at a guess he had told me he need to move on to other patients 4 Times ! Let's start with the challenge it is to get through the office. Anytime I call I am put on hold for a minimum of 7 minutes before someone answers the phone, if they answer at all. I've waiting as long as 15 minutes and finally hung up. Once you are able to get through, you better have everything written down as the doctor seems very rushed to get in and out. I had several questions (I waiting a month for my appointment) and he's response was that he couldn't see me for everything at once. I pushed back and told him I was pretty sure it was all connected. Neck, shoulder, hip and knee pain. I have been dealing with this pain for over 2 years and have already had x-rays and MRI's done in the past. He sends me to get new MRI of should and lower spine. Got my MRI done right away but a month later I still had not heard from Doctor's office. After several attempts to get through someone, I am finally able to make a follow up appointment. (Doctor had mentioned once they get the MRI his office was going to call me for the follow up appointment - It never happened). I see the doctor and he he says hip and knee pain is due to spine (nerve pinching). I ask about my shoulder. He didn't remember he had order an MRI of my shoulder so has to go back and check with his PA (This is just really bad follow up and support from his PA). He says there is nothing but suspects it is also coming from the spine (HA! didn't I say on my first visit that I thought it was related????). He sends me for a second MRI of the spine and says he doesn't specialize in the spine and needs to refer me out. Says his office will send the referral and contact me. I get the MRI done right away (mind you I've had unbearable neck/shoulder pain for over 6 months now). I give it a week and haven't heard from Dr.'s office. I've called now 3 times, left messages for PA asking what happened with the referral and the results and have YET TO RECEIVE ONE CALL BACK!!! Unbelievable!! had arthroscopic knee surgery just a week ago which I am so thankful for, didnt think id be able to recieve any help after a good mri and xray. but 7 months of pain and Christopher Alexander was great enough to offer me this surgery where he did find problems that he was able to clear up. I dont believe id be able to recieve the same help from other Dr's. No complaints, he was great to me and had wonderful bedside manners despite previous reviews left. He gave me about 4 minutes of his time. Then was about to leave and i had one other finger with issues. (Nice of him to not even know my why i was there). Then his comment was again. "Looks normal to me." Didn't ask about my prior surgery or any current issues. Just replied...."LOOKS NORMAL TO ME! " I informed him that i had a surgery for an issue in the past and he asked me if I really wanted to go through another one? What kind of question is that. Yes. So update, opening my mail I get a collections notice from a collections company for Dr. Alexander. Not one phone call or email or attempt to let me know the insurance denied the claim because of a missed piece of paperwork. Took me one phone call to my insurance who had notified them 2 times to send in paperwork to get paid but instead they send me to collections. Update on my procedure is that it is no better and I need to have another MRI per therapist to see what and why... Very disappointing and frustrating. read more

Absolute knuckle head of a Dr. I had a serious left knee injury after a horse accident. I requested to have an MRI. I have had many knee surgeries on my RT . I have had 28 surgeries over my life time. My knee was unstable, in pain. Felt like it could snap like a twig. All he did was charge me for a leg brace. Appointment was at 11:15. It's now past 1:15, and I'm still waiting to be seen. As a matter of fact, a receptionist just informed me that the Dr "had to run across the street" and wouldn't be back for at least 20 minutes. Um... Really? If I hadn't just wasted two hours waiting, I would definitely be walking out right now. Had knee surgery in May for the knee injuries caused by overtraining (I wish he had used stitches to prevent the four scars I have now. Also, post op they sent me home with a prescription for pain medication that I had said I'm allergic to and wouldn't return my calls, so I was stuck with Advil. That was fun.) Almost four months later it's still not right. Now he's suggesting a second surgery. Eh... no thanks, I think I'm going to try my luck with physical therapy first before trying another surgery. The office staff was very kind and punctual. I was taken back at my appointment time of 10:50am. I was pleasantly surprised and eager to be seen. My excitement elation that I was finally being seen for my ailment was bashed after waiting for an hour in the exam room. No updates, no humans coming to continue the great care from the front desk. As a matter of fact, there was only one other patient in the wait room when I entered. I'm sorry, but my time is precious too. I felt forgotten in a back room. At the very least, let me know that you are behind or had something else to do. It's common courtesy - I'm a patient that has been dealing with this injury for almost a year. All I ask for is a little respect as a person when I come in with time constraints of my own. I'm pretty disappointed and rather let down. I think a little over an hour in an exam room is ample time to let me know, at the very least, why I am still sitting them in paper shorts. read more
