Our family has been very pleased with the high quality of their work and attention to detail. The finishes have been very pleasing and we get compliments on the work all the time. His pricing is competitive and the craftsman who do the work are easy to get along with during long major projects. Ilan's team is the only one we will use for future remodels and I highly recommend him and his company.

I was starting with a smaller job first involving multiple carpentry related items. It's a good way to assess whether I'd use the contractor again for the more complex kitchen and bath. My HOA must approve any contractor before work commences and requires that they be licensed in Chicago, Insured, and bonded. Chicago Partners claims to be so on their website and confirmed that to me in person. IIan was very charming, knowledgeable, and initially quite responsive. His quote was detailed and helpfully assigned a dollar amount per task, as I'd requested. Unfortunately, as another reviewer noted, the proposal included language that would waive and indemnify Chicago Construction for any damage, harm, or injuries etc. that Chicago Construction might cause in the course of their work. I spoke to IIan about this and he said he was a lawyer and wrote it himself. I'm certain he did. I managed a contracts office doing over $300 million in business each year - none of my staff would ever approve a waiver that puts 100% of the risk on the client for harm that a contractor might cause. I asked IIan what was the point of requiring a contractor be bonded and insured was if I was going to waive their responsibility anyway? I told him my association wouldn't approve such a waiver. I asked him to strike the language and also to reduce the tasks in the quote. Unfortunately, I never heard back from him. This was in July. I used another contractor to complete the project and am now taking bids for the bathroom. I will not seek a bid from this company.

He was perfectly pleasant and seemed professional. He said he was going to submit a bid. (This was a $100,000+ project.) A week later, when I checked to see when he would be submitting his bid, he said he had already emailed me the bid. I had not received it, and told him so. He said he would resend it. Then he ghosted me! I tried twice more to text him, asking what had happened, and I got no response. He was a nice guy, but I pity the person who hires him and then gets ghosted halfway through a project.

Some days they said they would be there and ghosted us completely. Ended up getting the work done but very frustrating and took way longer than expected. Price was fair. Middle of the road on the quotes we got. End product is great. Additional information- very unprofessional communication. Multiple times when we called him out on his poor communication he got mad and was very aggressive. When I refused to pay the job until I saw the work (2 hours after completion of the job when I got home from work) he became irate and was very unprofessional. Upon posting the review above which is an accurate description of my experience, he sent me and my family a nasty text. Will not rehire.

They took the time to listen to what we wanted and offered helpful suggestions that really elevated the final design. The quality of the work is outstanding -- the tile installation is flawless, the drywall and flooring look perfect, and everything was completed on schedule. They kept the workspace clean each day and communicated clearly throughout the entire process, which gave us total peace of mind. Our bathroom looks absolutely beautiful and feels like a brand-new space. We couldn't be happier with the results and would highly recommend Speedy Gonzalez to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality remodeling work. I am a real estate agent and very familiar with renovations and can challenge pricing of many contractors. However, I have no idea about porches and do not know anything about them. My 3 level porch needed to be fixed to prevent sway, it was loose and needed replacement of many parts that were splitting and curved badly. In this process, I obtained 3 quotes. One from other popular porch contractor, one from a general contractor and one from Victor. Victor talks a lot but not like those fast talking sales man contractors. He does not like to talk about porches. He talks about life. So I was sold on that. Victor's quote was the highest among the three, but wait... The quotes did not include the Chicago City Permit cost. Having no idea about permit, general contractor asked about 500$ excluding the permit fee. I called a permit expediter and priced 1900$ total including the permit fee. Other porch contractor did not even tell how much he would charge me for the permit; he said permit takes time and would be extra. I asked Victor for pulling the permit, he said go do it yourself! Being pissed at Victor, I went to City Hall and walked out with my permit in 57 minutes and paid only 225$, learnt tons of information and how I was lied by others about the complexity of pulling a permit. Now, Victor is the cheapest total quote on the table, but wait... When Victor came out to sign a contract with me, he noticed other issues with my enclosed back porch. He had no obligation to look at there or even deal with that. He also addressed those issues and fixed them. He jacked the entire back porch resulting in alignment of my back doors, eliminating molding in front of the basement entrance and leveling the back porch areas inside the units. He did not charge for that...Turns out that Victor was the original contractor of that porch who built it for previous owners, I had no idea. He said he feels responsible for some of the issues there and did not charge for those additional work he put in there. Again, he had no obligation to do that, he could be just like other contractors who did not even look over there. Some of his ideas I tried to question, he simply looked me in the eye and said trust me. Long story short, I trusted Victor and he did not do wrong to me. Inspection has been passed and inspector signed my permit. I did not feel like I made business with a contractor but it was more like a life experience of knowing someone interesting. Thank you Victor! Trust him like I did, you will not regret.

We recently had our bathrooms remodeled, and we couldn't be happier with the results. The scope of our project included a full renovation of primary, kids and guest bathrooms, and the quality of craftsmanship really shows in every space. From the tile work to the fixtures and overall layout, everything feels high-quality and thoughtfully done. We especially appreciated the unique elements incorporated into the design, like the wall-mounted faucets, recessed vanities, heated floors, and heated bidets--features that truly elevated both the look and comfort of our bathrooms. The team was excellent to work with from start to finish. Elizabeth, our designer, and Eric, our project manager, were both fantastic and communicated clearly throughout the entire process. Elizabeth helped bring our vision to life with thoughtful design choices and a great eye for the overall look and feel, while Eric kept everything running smoothly and on schedule. Our contractor, also named Eric, did very high-quality work, and it really shows in the finished product. Everyone we interacted with was professional, respectful, and clearly took pride in their work. Communication was consistent, and we always felt informed about what was happening next. The team's level of care and precision really stood out--they made sure everything was done right. The entire process, from design to construction to the final finishing touches, was smooth and well-managed. They helped guide us through design decisions without pressure, kept the project moving on schedule, and made sure the final result matched (and even exceeded) our expectations. The end result is a set of bathrooms that not only look amazing but feel built to last. We're extremely happy with the quality of work and the overall experience, and we would absolutely recommend them to anyone considering a remodel.

I was working with a more junior designer, and replies were sometimes delayed. Once we got into build phase, the process ran really smoothly. There was a small snag at the end where my heated floors weren't heating. Daniel made sure to get the electrician, tiling professional, and heated floor professional on site to quickly identify the problem and remedy. The whole process from signing contract to completed bathroom was about six months. Longer than I was expecting, but happy to have had Chi Renovation coordinating all the moving pieces.
