Dr. Alex Chai is by far the best doctor I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. I live here and in another state, but I still see him because he treats me like a person, not someone to be scrutinized. He is so friendly, so caring, and is always keen to give his thoughts and advice on all things, from medicine to lifestyle. He is exceptional! I'd also like to say that his staff and front office, though they are very, very busy, are wonderful and always have worked with me on sorting everything out - even when there isn't availability, they've called me to book when there is a cancellation. I see a lot of people mention the office staff here: if they don't answer, call again - the best time in my case is usually first thing in the morning. My experience with them has been nothing but excellent. And they pronounce my last name perfectly :) Thank you all!! read more

So grateful for this wonderful doctor - I wouldn't trust anyone else with my health and wellness.

I'm really sad that I won't get to go to him anymore since I lost my job & my insurance. The reason I liked going to him was because he really took time to explain to me whatever issue I had @ the moment. when I schedule an appt. with him, I also schedule my gyno appt. @ the time I had a gyno problem so I explained to her what was going on & all she responded is 'I never heard of that happening & if it happens again, let me kno'. I was not satisfied with that answer but what was I going to do. Luckily, I my next appt. was with Dr. Chai. When I told him what my problem was & what the gyno said, he couldn't believe it but he really tried to understand my problem & actually took the time to brainstorm with me. that really calmed me & for that I am sad to leave. by the way this happened a lil over a year ago. read more

Dr. Alex Chai is the best doctor I have ever seen. He actually listens to you and I never feel like I have to rush. He is very professional and I love how he always tries to implement non-pharmacological interventions or other alternatives first. He is very caring and for once I don't feel like I am a number. Oh and also the staff is really nice here too, that is a big plus. Everytime I go in and everytime I call they are very pleasant! I also don't see Dr. Myra Chai but whenever I see her she is always smiling and really welcoming! I highly recommend going here! read more

This is my mom's doctor for many, many years. She switched her insurance provider to follow him. After she got a serious illness, he dropped her as a patient, claiming the paperwork was too much. It's an absurd reason. I gather it was taking too much time to care for her. I'll be following up to see if this is legal. read more

Sadly, Dr. Chai's front office staff never seem to answer their phones. How can anyone possibly communicate with the doctor, much less even try to schedule an appointment, when her staff never answers calls. Then when you ask for a call back, they call you back, but the phone system just hangs up on. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

For years seen doctors. Dr. Chai is the ONLY one who actually spend time explain everything so clearly. One of the most impressive moment that I experienced with Dr. Chai was he literally checked my blood pressure himself manually AND on both arm. I was so shocked when this happened to me in his office! Thank you Dr. Chai. You are the best of the best !! read more

I found Dr. Chai to be a kind, thoughtful, very professional physician. He took time to explain any questions. No rush. He's wonderful, but like so many doctors, the infrastructure around him is creaky. Making a telephone call to his office requires going through a couple buttons and then being asked by a machine to leave a message with no indication that I have reached his office. When will we be able to go online to book an appointment like it's the 21st century? read more

I love Dr. Alex Chai. He is thorough, caring and kind. What I am not happy with is the staff. I had a change in my insurance and did notify them but they still sent my blood work to a lab that is not covered by my new insurance. Now I have to pay the whole amount. When I called and complained, they didn't acknowledge their mistake of not updating my file, didn't apologize and blamed me instead. Customer service is horrible here and very unprofessional. Will miss seeing Dr. Chai but my family won't go back because of the incompetent and unprofessional staff. Hope Dr. Chai sees this and comes up with a good resolution. read more

He is the best In town. I would recommend to everyone. My parents have been his patient as long as I can remember.

Dr. Chai is very caring and he takes the time to explain everything very clearly. He has been a great help to our family and is a fine doctor. The current front office staff are kind and professional. read more

Dr. Chai is an amazing doctor we have been with for the past few years. He is patient, caring, and I have always felt comfortable asking him any questions. The receptionists, however, are often times hit or miss. Overall, I'd highly recommend Dr. Chai!!! He is great at what he does and has a wonderful personality as well. read more

Dr Chai has been my primary care physician for a number of years beginning when I still lived in Los Angeles. I moved to Ventura in 2011 and then to Santa Barbara last year. I tried several doctors up here, but always felt rushed with only superficial attention to my specific situation. Dr. Chai always takes as much time as needed for a thorough exam and follows up with a letter explaining the test results and providing recommendations. In my opinion he is a very special physician (and person) so I will continue to make the long drive as long as he continues to practice internal medicine. read more

Internal Medicine....need a primary physician? Dr. Chai has a small office which he shares with Dr. Liu in the building, lovingly referred to as the "glass building" by Good Samaritan employees. Both doctors are very nice, thorough and willing to take the time to explain medical concerns with their patients. One downfall of such good doctors are, that it may take a while to get an appointment in due to their popularity and the fact that they have a lot of geriatric patients. However, I've never had too much difficulty getting an appointment within the next week and Dr. Chai is pretty open about any questions and problems. Although....he did tell me I had to lose 10-20 pounds to be "healthy".....ahem... read more

My family & I have been with Dr. Alex Chai for a long time. He is a very concientious & very professional physician. With Dr. Chai you also never get the feeling of being rushed as he takes the time to listen to your concerns. When it comes to urgent care, Dr. Chai is on top & does what he can to expedite the care you need.. I visited Dr Chai not too long ago for a breast lump & right away he was able to refer me to the right specialist as well as initiated tests expediently. I am very thankful for all Dr Chai has been able to assist me & my family with. We are blessed to have Dr Chai as our physician. He is a very caring person as well as an excellent physician...Marcela & Paula are both very helpful & accomodating with scheduling & follow - up....I highly recommend Dr. Alex Chai & staff for anyone looking for a caring & professional physcian. read more

Dr. Chai is an incredibly competent, smart, and caring Doctor. My family and I have been seeing him for many, many years. My mother is an RN, and only wants me to see Dr. Chai because of what a good doctor he is. Dr. Chai is incredibly sharp. He is able to immediately identify what is going on with me. He is so caring and approachable, and he takes the time to ensure that I understand and feel comfortable with what is going on with me medically. He never takes financial advantage of me. Since I don't have good insurance coverage, I really appreciate it. I am training to become a psychologist, and I always appreciate how Dr. Chai is aware of mental health issues that surround certain medical conditions (e.g., stress, anxiety, etc.). I am so incredibly grateful for Dr. Chai, and I recommend him to anyone looking for a good internist in Los Angeles. read more

My mom, grandma and aunts have been at this office for almost 20 years. Dr. Chai and associates are very personable and treat my family with respect and humanity. I so appreciate Dr. Chai and his team for always attending my last minute appointments due to emergencies. I have friends who also switched to him as their general family doctor. Nurses at Good Samaritan recommended him. Thank you for all you do for my family Dr. Chai. read more

Wonderful doctor!!! He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable! Very caring and patient. My doctor couldn't see me so I went with Chai and I am definitely switching now! There were a lot of patients that mentioned that they have been seeing Dr.Chai for years and wouldn't change him for anyone. I understand why. Yes, his nurses are something else but just be firm with them. Thank you Dr.Chai!!! You're the best! read more
