His broad scope of expertise, humanity, tact, and sense of humor have made a lasting positive impact on my life. Like most of his other patients, I can say without hesitation that I consider him and Peggy to be a part of my extended family. I will never forget receiving an unprompted call from Dr. H late in the evening many years ago after they learned of a sudden health crisis that my parent suffered. Thankfully, my parent's crisis eventually resolved; but that brief check-in from Dr. H touched me deeply. I knew that I was not alone and that he genuinely cared. Unheard of in modern medicine, when you call their office after-hours and connect with the emergency line, the phone rings at Dr. H's house. They trust their patients not to abuse that access; but the small number of times that my family needed it, Peggy and Dr. H were on the other end of the line, providing useful information and reassurance, even at 4AM. My experience as a patient of Dr. H's played no small role in my own journey towards becoming a physician. I often find myself trying to recall one of his totally unique and pithy one-liner jokes when I need to break the ice with a new patient. Family practices like this one are virtually impossible to find these days. The world would be a much better place if everyone had a medical team like Dr. Horowitz and Peggy.

With covid and how things are run differently now, communication is KEY! Peggy sent me all the health forms that needed to be completed in a timely manner via email. She was wonderful at responding to my emails, and she made things so easy! They went out of their way to see me in person in a really short notice as my visit required necessary clearance for my nursing program. They only have certain days for appointments but she made an exception for me as my work schedule conflicted with their in-person office visits. Peggy also sent me my labs on a Saturday as I requested if she could send it to me as soon as they receive it.. they are closed on Saturdays and she did that for me (I am so grateful!). I also want to say that I drove from Monterey Park to Dr. Horowitz's office on a Friday during the time that there is so much traffic (traffic alone in this area if you already know is hideous) but I would do it again! Thank you so much Peggy and Dr. Horowitz!!

He appears only to sublease space in the same office. Patients who once relied on highly experienced, collaborative care with strong office management have been left without a referral to a comparable standard. In my experience, Dr. Escobar questioned well-documented medical histories, handled trauma insensitively, created unnecessary barriers to routine care, and communicated in a dismissive or frustrated way. The office location may be the same, but the spirit of patient-centered medicine and the lifetime of expertise that once defined it aren't there. Full Review: I transitioned to Dr. Escobar after the retirement of my longtime primary care physician. Although he practices in the same office, his practice is not affiliated with the long-established, multi-generational family medicine clinic that preceded him. Patients expecting continuity of that tradition of care have instead been left without a comparable substitute or clear alternatives. Despite having direct access to documentation from my prior physician, I was asked to retell my full medical history, including medical trauma. At one point he asked, "What makes you think that happened to you?", a question that challenged a well-documented illness and cast doubt on both my medical understanding and the reality of my condition. Instead of acknowledgment or trauma-informed care, I was left defending the reality of my illness and disability. Continuity of treatment was also disrupted. Prescriptions and therapies that had been stable for years were made contingent on new testing, resulting in unnecessary delays. Follow-up communication often added more barriers and at times carried a tone of frustration, even when I was only requesting routine continuation of care. The prior physician consistently integrated the latest research into patient management. Dr. Escobar did not demonstrate the same interest or engagement with current evidence, which is concerning for patients with complex and disabling conditions that require responsive, evidence-informed care. Professional presence also fell short. On one occasion, he took a prolonged personal phone call at the front desk while patients were waiting, without acknowledgment. Although the office staff are professional and courteous, the office now lacks the patient-centered spirit and lifetime of expertise that once defined the prior practice.

A great doctor that I hope I'll stay with for a long time. I've always had to bounce around between…read moredoctors but Dr. Escobar feels like that "forever doctor".
