Overall, it ended up being a really nice experience. The restaurant itself is super pretty, clean, and welcoming, and the service was very good from the moment we arrived. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel comfortable without being overbearing. We all ordered the picanha cooked medium with different sides, and for appetizers we shared tequeños. The tequeños were tasty and had good flavor, but they were a little overcooked since the cheese was already spilling out from the sides. Still good, just slightly overdone. The picanha itself was actually really flavorful and cooked perfectly medium like we asked. The meat had great seasoning and was definitely the highlight of the meal. I do think the sides had a little room for improvement though. The tostones tasted a bit old, like they had been sitting for a while, and my boyfriend ordered maduros that were unfortunately still too green to really be considered maduros. That said, aside from those little details, we still had a really good experience overall. Sometimes what makes a restaurant visit special is the atmosphere and the company you're with, and this ended up being such a nice place to sit, talk for hours, and reconnect with an old friend.

The watermelon margarita was okay, but unfortunately, it really didn't taste much like watermelon. We started with the fresh guacamole, which was disappointing. It was pretty lackluster and needed seasoning. When I order fresh guacamole, I'm looking for that classic table-made style with chunks of avocado, cilantro, onion, fresh lime, and plenty of flavor. This just didn't have it. The chicken quesadilla with peppers and onions was good overall, although the chicken was a little dry. The rice was actually very good--fluffy and not dry at all. The charro beans, however, needed some help. They lacked seasoning and that wonderful smoky flavor I expect from good charro beans. Some flavorful chorizo would have taken them to another level. The sopa de pollo had a good base flavor, but some jalapeños would have given it the kick it needed. The complimentary chips and salsa were okay, but again, the salsa needed more spice and personality. That really sums up my experience: the restaurant looks more flavorful than the food tastes. The atmosphere is beautiful, the bar is impressive, and the restaurant has so much potential, but the kitchen needs to bring the same energy. Give me more garlic, cilantro, lime, sazón, spice, smokiness, and bold Mexican flavors. Get rid of the bland! One big plus is that their hours are longer and they are open for more days than they used to be (they used to be closed 2-3 days of the week for reference). We decided on arroz con pollo with steak and chicken and steak fajitas with fresh guacamole as an appetizer. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and tasted great. I only gave 4 stars because the booths were so so very small and nearly every menu item has cheese. If you have dietary restrictions make sure to let your server know. However, they were accommodating when I asked for the cheese and sour cream to be left off my fajitas.

Normally this is meat with almost no juice, corn tortillas with cilantro and onions. When i picked up the first one water/ juice poured out of it, the second had so much it fell apart at the fold when I picked it up. The beans and rice were little more than a tablespoon each. When I asked for my drink to be refilled she made no apology about having just poured it out. I mean we were the only ones there, keep up. There appear to be a lot of Mexican places around. Try something else.
