I picked this dentist as he represented he was "in network" with my insurance. After the visit, I received a bill for the portion my insurance wouldn't cover because the dentist is in fact "out of network." When I questioned this, I was informed the balance would be waived. Again I received another bill and again I reached out the office manager. This time I was informed that I was responsible for the bill. Interestingly, if I kept my next scheduled cleaning, he would waive my balance. I cancelled my appointment (as he's out of network) and reiterated that I do not have a balance as per my previous correspondence with this office. I never received a response that my account was 0.00. If this dentist correctly listed his affiliation with my insurance, I would not have gone to him. read more

Dr. Gause has been my dentist for over 3 years and I have been very pleased by the quality of care, high level of customer service, and his integrity as a healthcare service provider. If you do not have insurance, they offer a monthly club where you can pay a fixed monthly fee and you receive (2) annual cleanings and 25% off all services. This is available for individuals, couples, and families for varying rates. I broke a molar on an olive pit once and Dr. Gause filled the break for about $320 instead of sending me to Crown town. He even said he would credit the amount paid for the filling towards the price of a crown when it eventually fell out. It has been nearly 18 months and the filling is still going strong. He's also open on Saturdays which is really nice for those of us who can't get off work that easily. Crowns, fillings, implants, root canals, veneers and Invisalign, he does it all. The cleaning was great. I have been to many dentists in the city and they really left my teeth feeling cleaner than they have at any of the others. What left a sour taste in my mouth was how much they charged for other services. Doctor said X-rays showed eleven cavities that the doctor said needed to be taken care of. ELEVEN. The receptionist worked up a schedule for how much they'd cost. They wanted 500 dollars for a composite filling. FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for one filling. I get that we're in Manhattan but sweet mother of god that's outrageously over priced. I felt it was a bit of a bait and switch. Get you in with the Groupon then if anything else needs to be done try and get your money that way. I'd also never heard the word root canal bandied about so much in an office. All that said, the cleaning was excellent. After regaining my health insurance I returned to my regular dentist and after a cleaning and X-rays he said everything looked good... I absolutely loved my dental experience at Aesthetic Dentistry of Manhattan. I love the fact that it's in Manhattan in an easily accessible location near Bloomingdales. From the moment that I walked into this modern, cozy dental office, I felt at ease. The staff was friendly and thorough, and the service was wonderful. So refreshing to experience a non-clinical dental practice that has such a hip and sophisticated staff. They were gentle when examining and cleaning my teeth. I was greeted warmly by staff and received a very comprehensive dental exam by Dr. Guase and his team. Everyone was so very professional and the environment was so positive. Dr. Guase took his time to listen to my concerns and to educate me about the next steps for my dental health. The technology at the dental office is out of this world and awesome. They also have late hours during the week, so I don't have to miss work. I had an 8 pm appt on a Wednesday and it was fabulous! I actually have to edit my review. I moved away from the city and just visited another dentist who has discovered that I have an infection caused by the on lay that doctor Gause did. It's been almost a year since I've had the onlay done, so you can imagine how serious its become. I remember mentioning about a possible infection to him before our last appointment and he said that there wasn't. Nice guy, I just am not sure if it was worth getting the onlay done at this point. read more

My visit at the office was okay, what will ensure I never visit this office again was the fact that they are misleading. I was told I only had to pay $170 for two fillings and that my insurance would cover the rest. I paid and received the procedure. Three weeks later I received a bill for an additional $250. I spoke to Dr. Gause who stated the $170 was an estimate and they can't ever really know how much the insurance would cover until they send them the bill. I was never told this was an "estimate" and feel beyond misled into getting a procedure that would cost me more than double what they said it would. Had they said it was an "estimate" I would of called the insurance myself first. Dr. Gause insisted on it being the insurances fault but it isn't because your staff is the one that should of advised me that it was an "estimate" rather than saying the $170 was all I had to pay. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I went to see Dr. Alex Gause for the first time last week and I must say that the experience was great. From the moment I walked into his office I felt like he truly cared about me as a patient and not just another appointment he had that day. Growing up I had the same family dentist for 18 years so I have a really high standards when it comes to my dentist and I will say for sure Dr. Alex Gause measures up. He sat with me and answered all of my questions he did not rush me out. You can tell by the way he practices medicine that he really cares for his patients and their dental needs. And to make things better a week later he checked in with me to make sure that everything was great with my teeth. I highly recommend Dr. Alex Gause if you don't already have a dentist in New York and even if you do have one I would recommend changing. read more

One of THEE most thorough dental visits I've ever had. First of all, i walked in about 25 minutes early, and was seen right away. That almost never happens! Dr. Gause was very informative and conducted all sorts of comprehensive exams prior to my cleaning. He was very personable and attentive and didn't try to force unnecessary procedures on me. The hygienist, Fred was also top notch. I informed him of my concerns and trouble areas, and he was gentle and asked how I was along the way. PLEASE BE AWARE. I went to ALEX GAUSE with pain in tooth #19. Although his outdated equipment (traditional x-rays) did not detect an infection he proceeded to perform a root canal on tooth 19. I went back to ALEX GAUSE with the same pain. ALEX GAUSE then performed another root canal on tooth # 14 to alleviate the pain ALTHOUGH ADDITIONAL IMAGES USING THE SAME EQUIPMENT (traditional x-rays) DID NOT DETECT AN INFECTION ON THIS TOOTH 14 EITHER. I came back again to ALEX GAUSE with the initial pain. ALEX GAUSE then proceeded to replace other fillings I had previously gotten done as a teenager. At no point did ALEX GAUSE refer me for further imaging or further diagnosis of the problem. After a few years of still experiencing this pain, I went to a different dentist and this dentist referred DENTAL CT SCANS as traditional x-rays did not indicate an infection. This is proper protocol and humane treatment. A medical professional should never exploit a client for financial gain. The DENTAL CT SCANS revealed tooth 19 has 4 nerves and an infection on the nerves he supposedly treated. ALEX GAUSE did not perform the root canal properly nor was he the indicated professional for the job. ALEX GAUSE is now refusing to reimburse the cost of the root canal. SAVE YOURSELF A TRIP TO PERHAPS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL DENTIST YOU'LL ENCOUNTER. GO TO A DENTIST WHO WILL TREAT YOU WITH HUMANE AND FAIRNESS AND WONT STEAL YOUR MONEY WHEN HE REALIZES THE WORK WAS NOT DONE PROPERLY. GO TO A DENTIST WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING. This was hands down the best experience I've ever had at the dentist. Yes dentistry can be expensive but it is worth every cent to do it right. I had pain for three months from a botched crown done by a bad dentist and Dr. Gause came in off the clock on a crazy Sunday during the ny marathon and relieved my pain temporality after scheduling an emergency root canal the next day!! He fit me in and made it work!! He also has a vast array of payment options including several methods of financing. He offers assistance through SAG, AFTRA and EQUITY!! This was the most relaxing, pain free root canal experience anyone could have ever had. His staff from the front desk to his assistant were amazing. His use of technology is exceptional!! He stepped me through his assessment of the problem on a big screen after taking x-rays. He treated my tooth like it was a work of art... meticulous perfection, concentration and my future comfort was of utmost importance to him. I'm never going to another dentist. I'm so happy I found Dr. Gause! This has been the best dental experience I've had, by far! I should probably admit that I am terrified of the dentist, and I've avoided going for far too long because of this. I recently saw Dr. Gause for a teeth cleaning and fillings, and I'm glad to report that my experience was AMAZING. He really cared about making my visits as comfortable and stress free as possible.
