I have been a long time customer for approx 20 years. I received a call today from…read moreMetro saying a bill of $4 and some cents is coming out of my savings account today and I am $.19 short. The banker said if I didn't deposit $.19, the bank would reject my payment and I would get a $30 fee on top of that for $.19. Now I have a savings account with $250 in it at Metro and my payday is this Thursday. I asked if they could just lend me out of my savings account the $.19 to cover the short amount and in three days the money would be back. They can see I have been a long time customer with guaranteed payment every two weeks on a Thursday. Now this is my mistake my bill was short, I thought the amount of money I had left in the account covered the bill in it's entirety. I own up to this. I called Metro back and asked if they could just pull $.19 from the $250 in my saving account and put it toward the bill. The banker aggressively said "no, there's a $250 pledge on the account and we don't pay your bills for you when you're short. " I explained my two other banks have covered the amount I was short a few times (under $15) and sent a letter explaining what they did for me and also said no bank fee was assessed In them doing so As a courtesy for being a good customer. This banker angrily said "that's not true! Banks don't do that." Actually, good banks do- especially ones who put customers first. So I will be sending her a copy of the bank letters I received Just to prove her wrong on this. I asked to speak with a manager. No one would talk to me and the time to get the $.19 was down to an hour. So I had to drive 45 mins to get to the bank to deposit my $.19. This bank looks down on you for being poor. Ive dealt with this bank for years. This is not the first time they've been rude to me. I never wrote a review, because I just felt like maybe the staff member had a bad day, but this seems to be an ongoing thing and today's situation was the final straw. This bank was used for just a savings account and a credit card, which was given to me when I started working at my job. I will be changing careers soon and will be closing all my accounts with Metro soon. If this bank won't help me with $.19, when the money is in my savings account, what makes you think they will help you? Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere where customers are put first and not looked down upon.

First ever mortgage with this bank. Previously I had been dealing with Chase, and there were many…read morethings about my mortgage experience with Chase that frustrated me, or made me uncomfortable or pressured. Everyone I dealt with at Liberty was very helpful, courteous, responsive, and I never felt pressured. Plus, their rates were incredibly low. The ability to upload and receive documents online was great, and the website they use for mortgages was very easy to use (much better than my experience with Chase whose electronic document system was a pain and required more in-person and physical paper). There was a grant I wanted to get, and I know Sylvia, Dagmar, and Maddie had to do a lot of extra work to accommodate this. I am self employed, which also complicates things, but this team was very easy going about this fact. The seller was particularly difficult to work with for this sale, but the team at Liberty were good about following up with the seller's attorney and worked with my attorney to get the closing done on time. I also dealt with Sera at the Liberty Insurance subsidiary to insure my condo, and opened a checking account at the Lincolnwood branch. Everyone I dealt with for these services were wonderful as well, and everyone went out of their way to work with my needs. I suppose my only criticism is that the retail banking side lacks some of the options and services compared to the big national banks. So I am not dumping my Chase accounts yet. But the personal service at Liberty is second to none. I will definitely be using them for any future home purchases, and will use their retail banking for some of the niches that fit my needs.

They are just like any other bank, you do not matter. At least at a bank you have access to customer service 24 hours a day not only during 9 to 5 and no weekends. Once they merged I was charged for numerous debits from China after the merger and they fixed it once I called and I did not have to file any type of dispute and I was told my information was compromised. Just stay away and try some of the bigger banks versus a credit union where you at least have access to customer service and more ATM machines to us without cost.
