I had put an email into Harry McKenna back in October to install some shutters for my bay window…read more What seemed like it started off great, came tumbling down quick. He mentioned the shutters would take 10-15 days to manufacture but failed to tell me that once he measures, Harry sends the measurements to the install team who have to come back to re-measure what Harry already measured (after me giving him measurements in the beginning) so three sets of measurements which spanned to a few of weeks of measuring. Manufacturing actually took about 20 business days and took 5 business days to deliver the shutter to the install team. This is after the first initial meeting of Harry saying that it would be no problem that the shutters would be installed well before the Christmas holidays. Long story short, after several phone calls and emails the install team made it to my house a couple of days before Christmas... low and behold, the shutters did not fit, after the triple checked measurements!! Christmas came and went, shutters not fitting... fine, we are okay with that. We were told that the installers would be back just after Christmas with the correct size. The installer came back mid January and took 2 of the 5 panels which exposed our living space (we were in a fish bowl). Harry dropped off some paper blinds to staple up while they had our shutters. But this was a shock because we were told that it would be fixed by then, to our surprise it wasn't the end. Now we are in the beginning of February and he finally came back to put in the missing shutters. Guess what?? They still do not fit and the installation looks awful. Not to mention while this is going on, Harry likes to have excuses as to why he can't get back to me. Not my problem. Also, he only cared about payment and not his customer service attitude or take any responsibility. The people that call to make appointments only call on Friday or Monday nights and they cannot do installations evenings/ weekends... you know, when people are home. You are expected to take time of work. Harry was so adamant (after a few months of not asking for payment) to get a deposit that I was happy to give and called/ emailed him about payment. He was eager to go on a vacation he had mentioned. Harry never called when he was back from vacation, never emailed me or anything in those regards. He simply took the other half of the payment without me authorizing payment and then tried to blame me for not calling him... in which I knew he was on vacation. What I want is the shutters to fit, I want the shutters to open and close properly, I would like the caulking to be complete and I want the stickers to be taken off the shutters.. in which I cannot take off because they installed them to the wood frame with the stickers on in there. Yes, you can see the ugly green stickers and the only way its coming off is if you unscrew/ pop off the shutters. I am so frustrated and ticked right off. Harry has not once apologized. Not once took responsibility, not accountable for anything. He keeps 'emailing the install team' and demanded that I send him pictures and videos. Even after then he never apologized. I am not a happy customer after the headaches, emails, phone calls, incorrect measurements, missing panels and unauthorized credit card transactions. I highly suggest to not purchase from this company or interact with this man.

First off the initial meeting was good, the owner of the company came to the house, adhered to social distancing showed my wife and I samples everything was great, he measured the windows and we ordered the shades. We were told 4-6 weeks to get the shades which was totally fine, while getting to the end of the timeframe my emailed several times with no response from the office for an installation date, after several phone calls we got our date. With date/time set the installer did not show up, after waiting for over an hour and half I called the office to be told he would be there in 5 minutes an hour later he showed up. I do have to say that the installer is great, he takes his time and explains things very well......unfortunately Craig (the owner) miss-measured all three blinds and sent the installer with the wrong kind of trim, so after waiting over two hours for the installer with no phone call, he couldn't do the install. He promised me that he would be back in two days and again the appointment was set, again the installer was late and there was no phone call. The end result was a good install and we are happy with the shutters. We waited 2 weeks to get the final bill and it was then sent to the wrong email address twice, I was then told that I was 16 days past due on my payment. I explained to smart shutters Canada the inconvenience that they caused me as I had to move my own work appointments around due to the installer being late and the wrong product being ordered, I asked for a discount on the final bill to compensate me in a small way as I lost money. I was met with an email full of excuses that then got hostile (I'll be happy to share the email with anyone that would like to see what their customer service is all about. From my position an offering of $25 on the bill would have been fine with me, instead I was told that I am overdue on my billing (which is paid) and that there is nothing that they can do....so in the end the bill will be paid, they need the money more than me I suppose. Customer service is not this companies strong point, the product is very decent for the price, the installer is good, the office staff does not return emails or phone calls unless it pertains to money. I have more windows to do in my house, Smart Shutters has done the rest of my house, they won't however be coming back to do the rest.

From my first call to have all four, very tall shutters in the Master bedroom bay window replaced, they followed through immediately with a home visit for estimate. I had interviewed two other companies just prior and felt Canada Custom's full confidence, history, and description of commitment convinced me to chose them over all. They then built to my specific measurements and needs for a greater secure design in attachment and completed the whole project in a very short period of time. They even beat the holiday rush in good time for us. The gentleman installer created a perfect fit and function, also carting all equipment and large product up and down three stories in our house, repeatedly, including the repeat process of removal and takeaway of the prior existing set. He took great care in the execution of all that cumbersome work. I am very impressed and pleased with the look of my new shutters, strong build, and feel most secure for their durability and future in the promise made by Canada Custom Shutters for greater warranty. It is certain I will be calling on them again in the future for any and all shutter replacement. Sincerely, LAUREN SULLIVAN

Anyways promised to hire them again for my upstairs and ....... here is the story. Installed shutters upstairs after 5-6 weeks waiting because we were forgotten. Finally they arrived but still forgot to bring the folding window handles at time of installation which was included in my cost (invoice to prove it). Noticed some shutters were loose and was advised that we needed new tension screws. Was promised that they will be back to repair and install the handles within a week. Months have gone by, no response to texts messages, calls and they have also been ignoring my wife ... true gentleman. Shutter Outlet have been hired by many of my family members in the past and can guarantee that loyalty is done due to this disrespect.
