I love Aldi's. It's typically a weekly shopping trip for our household. The prices are good and I love that every week there's new stuff to checkout. I love the small store layout, so it doesn't feel overwhelming and the food is usually 10/10. However, while I understand they are pressured to be fast when checking out and that's totally fine. I hate small talk, I don't appreciate the cashier (one specific girl) throwing out items into the cart without a care. Things that you typically shouldn't just toss in Willy nilly and 9 times out of 10 she's extremely rude and gives nasty looks. I actively avoid her when she's on register. read more

My mother , my boyfriend &' I came to shop this morning , now usually there are no problems &' it's a quick trip with happy faces , but today we came up to an isle to check out with a lady cashier &' she could not have been more rude . No initiating in any conversation &' almost had an upset look on her face , but the white lady after us goes up &' the cashier is smiling &' talking instantly . Aldis is different than a traditional U.S. grocery in a few different ways. They primarily carry generics but they in my opinion meet or exceed the name brands. I have done some research online and found that a German family owns this chain as well as Trader Joe's. This is in a way good for the customer as much of the products also seem to be sold in the European Union which is more restrictive on dyes artificial flavors colors and other additives. They charge .25 to rent a cart but if you return the cart you get your money back. You are charged a minimal fee if you don't bring your own bags. They do these things as well as sell primarily generics to save on labor and other costs and pass savings on to customers. Oh, they also don't accept coupons except their own ones that the occasionally print. Still wary of generics. Sometime ago I saw a guarantee posted in their store in Houston. If dissatisfied as long as you have the receipt bring back for a refund in addition to a free product replacement. Highlights many of their fruits and veggies are inexpensive especially when on sale. So far have loved most everything I have bought frozen. Love their pasta sauce. Good prices on can goods. Good prices on cheeses. Good selection it seems on wine and German/European products. Always seem to be lowest on eggs bread and milk. Don't really care for their meat selections/price but do like their chili cheddar brats. Fairly decent selection on dairy such as Greek yogurt sour cream butter all low prices or competitive. They have a health line that includes whole wheat pasta and lower calorie yogurt at great prices. They also carry some organics. I am very happy shopping there. If the line is a little long I know my face certainly won't be after I check out and see my sales receipt. They also have a long table built in the wall so you can bag groceries. Here's my take on Aldi. It's not always the cheapest, but it is almost always incredible value for money. Yes, I have spotted a few items that are on par with the HEB on Wooded Acres. Fine--but like the other reviewers said, the produce is in pristine fresh state. I have never had peppers more plump or zucchini heavier except when I go to the farmer's market. Then there are items that I cannot find anywhere else (ditto on the other reviewers' comments). Where else in Waco can you find a palatable bottle of Syrah for $2.89?!! Or gourmet salami for a little over $3. So no, this is not just about being cheap. It is outstanding value for money. I now come here first to get as many things I can on my list before going elsewhere for the rest. And yes, there are times when the lines are just hateful. But try to go before 11am and you will sail through. read more

Per my previous complaint concerning the extremely rude and unprofessional Haylie, who works at the Valley Mills Aldi store in Waco, I did receive a call from both the store manager & district manager. However, they apparently have chosen to do nothing about her whatsoever. Losing customers doesn't mean anything to them, but I hope this can sway others to stay away from this horrific store as I intend to. read more

I was hesitant to shop at Aldi's given that my UK friends used to roll their eyes about going there, and friends in other parts of the United States weren't too happy with them. However, I swallowed my fear and went inside. I first must address the quarter for a cart thing -- I was hesitant to take my disabled father (who can't walk more than 50 feet without his heart kicking out on him), for the risk of him not being able to walk the cart back to the store without leaning on it. However, Aldi did a very smart thing -- they put the carts alongside the handicapped parking area, so this was a non-issue. The meat was comparably priced to HEB, and I was impressed with the freshness and quality. I don't see myself shopping here for my primary needs unless I know EXACTLY what I'm looking for, but it's good to know they have a wide selection of meat ranging from carne asada to pork steaks to 5lb trays of 73/27 ground beef. I was impressed with the selection of European and Asian foods around the store. I picked up some Italian Anisette Pizzelle cookies, which caused a major happy flashback to my childhood in Brooklyn. I also found cheap 100% cranberry juice which thrilled me to no end. I also got bowls of noodles for my snacks. There were some really delectable bars of German chocolate to be had at reasonable prices, also. I also purchased a tray of cinnamon buns for $2.99 which put HEB's and Walmart's to shame. The wait times are a little long on the registers, but nothing horrendous. The cashier was sincerely pleasant and there was no unpleasant vibe. Additionally, if you don't bring your own bags, you can buy your own heavy, reusable bags for 10 cents, which is no biggie whatsoever. I will be back...thanks Aldi! read more

My family and I love Aldi, go with an open mind and you will be surprised. The Aldi branded stuff is all tasty and inexpensive and in a lot of cases better than the name brand crap! I appreciate the lack of artificial coloring in their products! Who needs more chemicals. Only downfall is the produce needs to be consumed within days of purchase and that's alright by us! read more

Love the unique food offered here! They have plenty of organic food and not too many choices, which I like so I can read the labels. Low prices on canned foods. There does only seem to be one checkout open, and there is a slight wait. And unfortunately, if you buy alot it is cumbersome to carry out everything, and they need your cart back pronto! I ended up dropping cans on the floor trying to hold my 1 year old at the same time, was quite embarrassing. read more

I don't have any problems with this place but one. They usually keep just one register open. Sometimes they will open a second. I like shopping here because you can get a lot for your money and the generic brands are just as good if not better then name brand foods. The store reminds me a lot of a Save-a-Lot store. Just more groceries for the buck. Unfortunately there is not as much verity as a bigger franchise so what you can not find at Aldi you have to get somewhere else. That is okay with me. Quick in and out. Save here and save there. It is so worth it! Just a quick list: small selection of candies, lots of different kind of chips, condiments, great selection of spices, some selections of salad dressings, non food items like outdoor items and cook ware, good selection of breads, small selection of meats, milk, eggs, pastas, pizza (frozen and prepare yourself), sodas and other items. I go to Aldi's every Thursday. I go shopping for my elderly ill parents and I purchase items for my own family as well. I went in there yesterday when they had the $10's off coupon for anything over $50. I picked one up for my parents shopping and then got one for myself. Mind you, these people know me by now and they know that I come in every week. I buy my parents groceries with their money, debit card and then I purchase my groceries with my own debit card. Well, when it was time to pay for my parent's groceries they told me that I could only use the coupon once, that I could not use on my groceries too, even though I purchased with my parent's card. My groceries didn't even come to $50 and that was fine but it is the principal of the matter. Not only that the little girl that checks me out is rude when she is stocking items and if I ask her where something is she is very rude and up front on the cash register she is nice as can be. I like the store but they need to do something about how rude their employees are. The rest of the people that work there are nice, but she is terrible and she told me she was the manager; if she is the manager then they are in trouble. She needs to go to customer service school. read more

I was driving through Waco and spotted the famous Aldi sign high in the sky. This is a huge chain up north and I was amazed to find one so far south. I rushed in side and found tons of different foods and seasonal goodies that you can't find at an HEB or Walmart. I love this store so much and hope Austin gets one soon too! Great prices and super speedy checkouts. Bring cash though, Aldi's don't take credit cards. read more

We have been to Aldi's twice since my original review. It has improved. Today (11/9/16) I shopped for holiday baking supplies. The chopped dates, real vanilla extract, chocolate chips, and raisins were less expensive than HEB. We also bought a shank ham and a bag of onions (again, less expensive.) I'd advise knowing the price of items at your local grocery, and then comparing with Aldi's. Some items are more expensive than your local grocery, some less costly. If you shop wisely, you can get some good bargains at Aldi's. The checkout was one lane, the checker was friendly, and we didn't have to wait long to be served. Granted, we were there relatively early at 9:30 a.m., but the store wasn't crowded and everything was stocked with only two or three gaps on the shelves. I still would not use Aldi's for weekly shopping, but stopping in occasionally to pick up special items or stock up on necessities--Aldi's is good. read more

I LOVE this store!! I have not stepped foot into the HEB since Aldi's opened!! If Aldi doesn't have it, my family doesn't need to eat it. The store is clean, well organized and friendly staff!! They have absolutely everything we need at a GREAT price. I had always taken my own shopping bags to the HEB and packed my own items there so why not save some major dollars and not get irritated looks while you pack your groceries. read more
