First time coming to this location. Was more crowded than I've seen in passing as people are preparing for the winter storm. Finding parking was hard. You would think with this being a store right near a busy intersection, the parking lot would be bigger. The store was like it was ransacked through due to all the people coming in and grabbing last minute groceries. But the workers were working as fast as they could. They only had two checkout lanes and self checkout open, which made the lines even longer. Aldi prices are fair and the quality of their food is decent. read more

I usually go to the Maplewood or Rock Hill location and was unsure how this one would be but it was great. It was clean and fully stocked. The produce that I looked at was fresh and the check-out gal was friendly. No issues here. read more

I really like this Aldi! I've been here multiple times and the service has always been great. The store is clean, organized, and almost always stocked. Large parking lot and convenient location on Olive. I love the low cost for the quality you get for some of the products sold here (a big tub of hummus with 4 flavors for $4!). The produce is fresh and there are sometimes brand-name items. I like that the store is small, because I can go in, get what I need, and leave without unnecessary browsing through too many products. The trade-off is that ethnic and unique products usually aren't sold here. Check-out can be long, but they move fast. There are boxes available to hold all your stuff. For those who haven't been to Aldi, you'll need a quarter to use a shopping cart. The quarter is returned to you when you return the cart. read more

This is basically the neighborhood Aldi in U-city. The store is always clean and well organized. The fruit and veggies section have quite a good variety. I love the occasional foreign snacks and chocolate they sell, it's always sad when I come by and they are gone or don't carry them anymore. Going there, I get roughly 90% of my grocery shopping done. Aldi has reasonable prices, and some variety. Some things I expect them not to carry especially bulk items. I always walk through every aisle because I never know what knick knack I might pick up! The employees are always friendly, sometimes it can be frustrating when they have long lines and only two cashier lanes open. read more

First time at Aldi's and my mind is blown. 1 bag of 3-pound cuties is $3 or less here! I do not understand how the price differentiates by so much with Aldi's vs any other supermarket. Yes, they don't have a huge selection but what they have is very solid. The one thing I will say that bothered me was the quarter in the cart system because the carts often got stuck and you can't get the quarter out. Other than that, definitely come to Aldi's for extremely low, and mind-blowing prices. read more

We have Aldi's at home in Alabama as well. But this one was quite nice. It's good to see how different products are sold in here in different areas of the world. The store was neat and clean. The produce was fresh and inviting. I was able to find everything I needed and get on out of there before I browsed the aisle of shame as we call it. read more

I love our neighborhood Aldi. They did a greay remodel though I confess I'm still sometimes unsure where to find things. They take Apple Pay, which is awesome!! When the line gets too long at the checkout they throw another person on a register and the cashiers are always very friendly! I have my specific staples that I get there- almond milk, steal cut oats, frozen gluten free pizza, peanut butter pretzels, Hellman's Mayo, and lots of fresh veggies and fruit. They have a good produce.l section, we get most out veggies from them. And they also have some good organic choices too! It's our go to store when we don't desire brand name products. read more

This particular Aldi's was recently remolded and is very clean, well lite and organized. Some really great prices here especially for staples but you will not find everything here and its far from Schnucks but does represent some excellent value. Out of all the grocery stores in all of St. Louis to review, why in the world would I make my first review Aldi's? I mean, most people have only a faint or passing knowledge of Aldi, if they have any knowledge at all. And that knowledge is usually: This is the poor person grocery store. Honestly, I can't really disagree with the stereotype of Aldi's. This IS the poor person grocery store. Let's face it, a store that sells loaves of bread for 60 cents doesn't exactly attract foodies. But allow me to amend the definition a tad. This is not ONLY the poor person grocery store, it is also the "save a couple bucks a week on staples if you're pinching pennies" grocery store. I'll be honest, I'm a Schnucks guy. I don't have nearly enough dough to shop at Dierbergs (which my mom calls the 'supermarket for millionaires'...I don't dare to ask what she calls Whole Foods), and I'm a little too proud to elbow people for the last gallon of milk at Shop N Save. Schnucks allows me to save a couple dollars and retain my dignity. So where does Aldi come in? Well, if Whole Foods is a Benz, Dierbergs is a BMW, Schnucks is a Toyota, and Shop N Save is a Ford, then Aldi is the Yugo. Dirt cheap and zero-frills, but it usually gets you where you need to be. A trip to Aldi's isn't just a shopping trip, it can be a mind-bending experience. I have to pay a deposit to use a cart? Is that food really as cheap as it says? Do they really only have 1 checkout clerk? Do they really only take cash, food stamps, or debit cards? Wait, not only do I have to pay for my own grocery bags, but also pack them myself? Is that smelly person actually buying 10 gallons of milk? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and (lord help us all) yes. If you've ever wondered "I wonder if they make a cheaper version of what I eat and I wonder if it's just as good?", then this is the place to find out. In most instances the answer is "good enough", but the more complex/better tasting the food, the worse it's going to taste. The simple rule of thumb here is to stick to the basics. Milk, eggs, bread, butter, canned goods, simple frozen stuff. I'm not saying don't buy the knock off cupcakes, frozen "chicken breasts", or unripened fruit, but you're really on your own when you travel off the beaten path. Before you know it, you'll figure out what the ok stuff is, and save a couple bucks in the process. To most people (sometimes including myself) Aldi is an afterthought...someplace that you drive by on the way to the "real" grocery store. I'll be honest, I wouldn't do 100% of my weekly grocery shopping here, but sometimes it's really hard to justify paying $3.50/gallon for milk at Schnucks when you can get the same thing for a buck less right down the street. If your grocery budget is stretched thin from all the Whole Foods and Trader Joes stops, give Aldi a chance. Just don't look at it as a typical grocery store, more like a pop in/pop out type of place. And no, you aren't on drugs. That can of peas really is 29 cents. read more

This is an Aldi and is similar to all the other ones I have been to so far. They seem to all stock the same stuff and in most of the same locations in each store so it's easy to find what I need. Aldi always has some of the lowest prices on what they carry. Their selection is a bit limited but I can get all the basics here and save some dinero. The Maplewood Aldi is still my favorite . Unlike this one and the one on Kingshighway, the Maplewood Aldi does not have a security guard at the entrance/exit. read more

I like to go to here in ALDI for a quick grocery. They do not have the best selection unlike to any other grocery stores but I sometimes go in here for a few groceries. Parking is always easy because there are a lot of spaces. The store is always clean, organized and well stocked. It just that some items that I wanted are not available in here but there are still some available basic items that I needed. This is the Aldi that i frequent. I come here often for all my necessities. I'm not one of those organic food only people so I buy a lot of veggies here. A bag of onions for 79c? I'll take 4. Avocados for less than a dollar? Horray! Seriously. I stock up on all sorts of stuff here: flour, sugar, butter, milk, eggs. I can't get it cheaper down the street at schnucks! They keep normal costs low by making you pull out a quarter to use a cart (you get it back when you return the cart!) and they sell bags to you. I don't bother with either by buying a few reusable bags back in the day so i can just pull them out of my trunk and get on with my shopping. Two giant bags are plenty for everything I need! I love that they have a mix variety of hummus that comes in the same containers. Their brie is also pretty good! I love their bags of cheese, cans of beans, and super sharp blocks of cheddar. Seriously, get the super sharp because the regular sharp doesn't taste sharp at all... but it's still ok. I also love how much baking stuff they carry around christmas time! I have silimats from them and they work just great! The parking lot is pretty big and it tends to be fairly full but not so full I can't find a reasonable spot. Sometimes the lines get pretty long here too but it's worth it for me. The place is clean and well organized. I know where everything on my list is supposed to be so I can go in, grab everything, and leave in a timely manner. I'm a grad student who loves to eat out but have started making car payments on a new car (because someone who hurt my car didn't have insurance and I only had liability) and I'm trying to save up for that awkward few jobless months after graduation so coming here for staples when i eat in is perfect. Nothing here tastes BAD and with the right basic things, I can still make good food! read more

First, I have never bought food at an Aldi, so I can't comment. Second, the things that I did buy (garden hose, tools, etc) were half the price of big-box stores. Third, I have to put a quarter into a machine to use a shopping cart here? Are you serious? I have no change in my pocket. Do they have that many carts stolen that they have to charge for them? Would the loss of $0.25 really deter you if you were planning on stealing one? I don't think folks are going here for locally sourced organic arugula. Yes I love shopping at Aldi's. Being a sub of Trader Joe's they have some very tasty products. Don't be fooled by needing to put a quarter in the cart, or having to bag your own groceries, or the warehouse style... They have some great food and darn good prices. My fav is produce, hummus, salsa, animal cookies (i know....smh), gluten free pasta selections and prices, random non-food products that are way cheaper than big box stores. Only caveat, they do not accept Credit Cards. I'm definitely a let 'me get points for shopping' person and cannot get points at Aldi's except Shopkick of course but that's another review. Overall this Aldi's is always clean, stocked and does not have a problem giving me an IOU when out of sale items. read more

I have always loved Aldi. I have been to the Cape Girardeau location multiple times. I lived in South County for the past 9 years and frequented the one off south lindbergh. (I do believe their manager's name is Marsha). That location was kept TOP NOTCH. It always looked clean, fresh, organized. The food from there was exceptional. Since August, I now live U City. A month ago, I brought home groceries from Aldi on Olive. I kept smelling this light rotten odor. When I was putting up my food, I found that the french onion dip I had bought was leaking and was bad. That smell/dip and had gotten all over my food. Now that wasn't a huge deal. That can happen. However, last night I went into U City Aldi. I had made it to the meat section and picked out a Fit & Active rotisserie turkey. (these are uncooked in partially clear plastic packaging marinating in seasonings). I put it in my cart and moved on. Seconds later, there was a rotten, disgusting odor. I smelled my hands and almost threw up. That turkey package was leaking and was rotten. I think there were more, though. Because after I put the package back AND told an employee about it, that smell had permeated all through that area. Other people were smelling it too. I don't recommend this location. It's not being supervised well, as all the food needs to be checked periodically...especially the refrigerated items. It seems organized, but not very clean, either. read more

i'll always been a fan of Aldi: whether its in the Latino 'hood of Langley Park, MD or Shriesheim, Germany, Aldi has been a lifesaver for those who are on a budget or just plain out of cash (errr, counting euro coins to buy bread, cheese, & yogurt for a German trek). this was my 1st visit to this one in STL and i have to say, it's hit-or-miss on deals. for example, you still pay almost $3 for a box of gourmet crackers but you're practically "stealing" the 16 oz container of fresh strawberries for $0.89! another example was that the 6-onion bag was around $2.50 or so (still a bit "steep" for Aldi), yet the frozen salmon filets in personalized plastic wrap was under 4 bucks. you can pretty much guarantee that they will have the same kind of nonperishable foods, but the fresh produce could be a treat in searching out the deals or realizing that it's just plain "pricey." i love that this is the only franchise supermarket that make people pay a quarter to get a shopping cart unlatched and makes you return it after shopping to be re-latched to adjacent carts and out comes your quarter. smart business tactic since the place saves $$$ on having to pay the cart collector guy. if you love bargain shopping and not get too frustrated that everything's NOT dirt cheap, you'll love this place. i'm a HUGE fan since this will probably prevent me from starving on my grad school budget. thank you, Aldi, for existing! read more

My new favorite store, and they do accept credit cards now. You cannot beat the prices on produce -- often half the price of other supermarkets -- and staples like milk, eggs, butter and meat. I've found the quality to be fine. I was leery of the off brands at first but am getting more comfortable with them -- the only one I didn't care for was the flour. You can also find unusual items, like a kringla pastry from Racine Wisconsin, no one else has - and normally high-end items like smoked salmon for cheap. You can make a fancy dinner for half the cost - just don't tell your guests it's from Aldi! The people who work here are friendly and really move the checkout lines quickly. Bring your own bags and a quarter for the cart (you'll get it back). My only negative is no rain checks when the meat specials sell out. read more

Surprisingly good quality for the price. I highly recommend going for their vegetables and fruit. They always have great sale prices, you just have to get the right one. Of course there are always some rotton fruits or vegetables, but the majority of what you will want is good to go. Also items like milk, eggs, and cereal are much less than other groceries. Overall the cost is about 40% for me, compared to Schnucks. I like this location because of its proximity to Chinese grocery stores, notably Seafood City, meaning you can round out your groceries for the week. read more
