I hadn't been in an Aldi since I used to live in Europe. Went to one in Tampa. Not sure I'll be back. Bought organic blackberries. Ones that were hidden by the label were moldy! Total waste of money. Threw them in the trash. Radishes were OK. Not as good a quality as Publix, and had to toss some of them. Avocadoes were excellent. Salmon was good and much cheaper than Publix. So very hit or miss. For me it's not worth the time to drive 6 or 7 miles to an Aldi, when I can't trust the quality of fresh produce, when I can go to a Publix that's 1 mile away. read more

I'm a regular customer of this location and was looking for thin pretzels to use for dips. They had just what I wanted, Clancy's Pretzel Thins, at a price much less expensive than other stores. BUT, here's where ya get what ya pay for. 95 percent of the pretzels were only bits and pieces. You cannot see what's in the package, so ya take your chances. A photo is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes, and I'm including one to show exactly what I'm writing about. I'm not buying this product again, and unless you like little pieces to eat with a spoon, I don't recommend this pretzel product. read more

This Aldi has gone down big time! It was updated with the new Aldi set up, but I can't find anything here. A lot of stuff is often out. Today was the topper, and I know that it's not the employees' fault because people are stupid. I went to the bathroom and a big puddle of pee was on the baby changing area. The bathroom was also a mess. This is so gross and just wrong. I think this place probably needs more employees and they are so overwhelmed. I feel bad for them. I don't know if I'll be back at this location for a while. I wish the Wesley Chapel one would open already. read more

This is a nice, clean place. I like that they keep their costs down by having a refundable quarter charge to use their carts and by having customers bag their own groceries. However, this is not a one-stop place for shopping. Their selection varies, and they might be missing certain basics. I was not impressed by their produce section at all. And I would like to know where on earth they get their brands. They have products that look like mainstream brand name products, but they aren't. So instead of Capn Crunch, they have Kids Krunch, with a box that looks almost identical. Craziness. I have no desire to eat most Quaker or General Mills cereals, so the thought of a Millville cereal is even less appealing. I think I'm sticking with Sprouts and Trader Joe's. read more

I have 3 local ALDIs in the area and this is my favorite one. It's better than the one on Sheldon and the one on university plaza. It better stocked and more organized. The layout is more visually appealing. Every time I go to the other ones I remember why I make it a point to come here. read more

I just love this place more and more, each time I go! I am in to organic food and grassfed beef, and they really have a lot of products at really good prices, and adding on all the time. Today, I purchased 3-2 packs of thick cut, about 1 to 1 1/2 inch grassfed NY strip steaks for $9.99#, and a huge loaf of organic 24 seed bread for $3.99. Other deals on a regular basis I get are Haas avocados .49each, pineapples $1.29, Mandarin oranges $2.29, organic Granola $3.49, cantelope 89 cents, bananas 49#, and on and on. The store was remodeled last year and has a new layout. When you enter you have fruits and vegetables on your right continue on to breads on your left now we have snacks knots trail mixes etc. I come here every year for the German cookies that they import directly from Germany. Great selection for early November in the German cookie aisle I am thrilled! As well as I wanted around I found sliced cheeses plenty of snacks that were actually quite wholesome.Excellent Greek yogurt spinach artichoke dip as well as a fantastically delicious sliced Gouda cheese. Fruits and vegetables incredibly reasonable, but don't forget to bring your own bags and a quarter for the shopping cart is always helpful if you are doing a full shop.Cashiers were friendly plenty of oils can open up as soon as customers start to pile up at one line very good service. The store now takes credit cards which is good for me because I have a tendency to over shop. Plenty of parking in the large parking lot right off Bearrs Avenue. read more

I've never been a "loyal" grocery chain shopper. Here in Florida Publix is one of our biggest chain grocers, and although I do love shopping there (it is a pleasure, after all), it's not always kind to my wallet. I typically do my shopping on Sunday mornings and will browse the ads to see who's got the best deals. I'm totally ok with store brands, so couponing has never been my priority as I think many times you can save more money by going generic on most items, receiving equal quality and taste. Now, in a moment, I may lose brand-loyal Yelpers, but I want to introduce you to a little store called Aldi. Ever heard of Trader Joe's? (oh, I bet I just got a few swoons and oooo's and ahhh's). Well Aldi is their discount chain and parent company. (Yes, it's true!). When Tampa first got an Aldi, I decided to check it out. I had heard about it's popularity over in Europe, so I figured I would see what all of the trans-Atlantic hype was about. I have been HOOKED on Aldi ever since. Calling it a "discount" store is like putting it in the same category as a dollar store and that should be a crime. Aldi is in a different league all on it's own. With clean stores, specialty items and some of the freshest produce around, there is no doubt that Aldi is in the same family as the infamous Trader Joe's. If you're living on a budget (like me), then you should check out Aldi for all of your healthy meal planning needs. They have a wide variety of gourmet cheese, fresh meats, many certified organic products, frozen foods, baked goods, hummus, deli meats, baking necessities, and so much more! Also provides a low cost, no frills grocery shopping with high quality products. As others have mentioned Also is part of the same German company that runs Trader Joe's and carries the same products in slightly different packaging. Aldi has a few quirks such as needing a quarter to get a shopping cart, buying bags (unless you bring your own), and having most items sold from their shipping cartons instead of being displayed. It is intersting to see the mark up for all that when you see how much more expensive the exact same items are at Trader Joe's. Becuase of the German background Aldi gets a regular rotation of high quality European cheeses, breads, desserts, and frozen good. The September items for Oktoberfest are a particular favorite of mine. One word of caution I got from a former employee. Aldi only takes cash and debit cards. EBT cards count as debit, so avoid shopping here on the 1st of each month if at all possible. I made the mistake once, and ended up 8 people deep at checkout, and was literally the only one in the three lanes open not paying with government handouts. Skip that monthly timeframe and you should be good. read more

When we moved from Europe to Florida, the first thing my aunt who lived here in Tampa told me was that there was an Aldi across the road. Because Aldi was our go to grocery shop in England and France. The first time we went in the shop, back in 2011, we were sorely disappointed by the quality of the produce and the meat. HOWEVER, we kept going back and I'm glad we did. For the past four years we've been shopping exclusively at Aldi, except for ginger which I buy from the super center near us. *ahem, ahem* Get the hint? Stock ginger, please! Affordable organic produce, check! Affordable gluten free flour, check! Affordable almond, rice and coconut milk, check, check, check! Their wine selection isn't extensive, but we've yet to buy a bottle that we didn't like. (My husband's French and for him to find wine that he likes it's a tall order. Not at Aldi though.) The weekly specials are really good. And some things they keep around for a while, so it's nice to be able to buy things like English Toffee, weeks after the special ran. The store is clean, and well kept and the cashiers and other floor employees are always nice and quick to help. And the best thing is that we save between 150 to 200 dollars a week since we stopped shopping at Publix. read more

Love this store! What a novel idea to require customers to pay a quarter to get a shopping cart and then get their quarter back when they return the cart. No carts all around the parking lot, win/win for the customer. Savings on groceries prices and less chance of damages to their cars. Bring your bags and be prepared to bag your own groceries. They do have bags for sale at a reasonable price and you may find a small box here and there. Another real savings to you and if it's not bagged to your liking you can only blame yourself!! Yes they only take debit and cash which btw also save you money. Highly recommend. The prices are all significantly lower than anywhere else. Not a huge selection, but definitely all the basics are well covered. As others have mentioned payment should only be cash or debit no credit, carts require a .25 deposit and there are no bags provided. The produce varies week to week, but zucchini, peppers, onions, carrots, and potatoes are always available. Meat and produce after a quick check while shopping are just as good or better than big name stores. Extensive frozen food selection. Cheap wine. European chocolate. Nice variety of cheese and crackers. Even a limited selection of organic products. Lots of healthy kid friendly snacks and lunch items. This grocery store is so freaking awesome. It's always clean, stocked, and the food fresh. They don't have everything, but they have 90% of what I need to make all my meals for the week. I spend about $30 a week for my husband and I to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 5 days. My budget is definitely easier to maintain with a grocery store like this. I had a good experience returning a bag of mandarin oranges. I got two bags and after opening one, I didn't want to finish it because they weren't that sweet. I forgot my receipt, but was still able to return fruit. I turned around and bought $21.58 (see pic.) worth of fruit and vegetables. I was so surprised at how clean and well organized this store is. The produce department was spot on with plenty of fresh produce. I went to Aldi after I saw a youtube video on an individual who did an​ Aldi haul. ​So I went in search of the ground Buffalo--which I did not find. I did find some at Costco for a reasonable​ price. All of there meat is cryo packed just like at Trader Joes and is relativity​ priced. I do believe this is a store that could be a hit or miss on certain products. But, worth going back to -- and bring​ my bags. Just like all the ​grocery stores you just have to know your prices. Aldi is certainly worth going back to maybe during the weekday. I'll admit that I'm spoiled by Publix. I wandered in here since I heard good things about their meat prices and read they are really trying to get more organic and natural items. It was a mini adventure in Grocery Store Land but not without its quirks. First, you gotta pay a quarter to use the shopping cart but you get it back when you're through. I didn't really need a whole cart so I walked in to see if they had baskets. Nope, they didn't. I didn't have a long list so I managed to carry everything in my arms. It was kinda small and hard to locate things. Everything was kinda jammed in together. They had some name brands but most of it were off brands. I read that some of the items are Trader Joe items but under a different label. Indeed, I saw the chocolate chip cookie "Dunkers" like at TJ and some of the snack mixes looked like TJ. Found a jar of organic coconut oil for only $4.99, about a buck less than TJ and a heck of a lot cheaper than anywhere else. I went in looking for baby carrots, celery, Brussel sprouts fresh or frozen, pork chops. They had just ran out of celery, no Brussel sprouts but I got a good deal on a bag of organic baby carrots and a bag of organic apples that are exactly like the ones I buy at Publix with same brand and everything but at least a buck or two less. I got two center cut meaty pork chops for just $2.54. So yeah, it's a little chaotic and didn't have everything I was looking for but this location is probably the cleanest one. The employees are nice. They also don't supply free bags but have some you can buy like 6 cents for a plastic bag but you can of course bring in reusable bags. I'll be back to buy meat and organic items. I think it's worth a slightly different way home from work to save money on those things. read more

RUDE CASHIER! My wife and I went to this poorly managed store. We shop there weekly without incident. While standing in front of the onions in the produce section, a cashier approached unannounced to our right, bumped our cart and THREW a bag of onions into the bin in front of us. No "Excuse me sir, I have to put these back", no "Pardon me a moment" nothing. I said to her excuse me, but she refused to turn around. When I spoke to the manager (Who never introduced himself) his first question after my telling him what happened, was to point to my groceries and ask "are these your groceries" like there is some quota at the amount of groceries you purchase before he will acknowledges your incident. I told him how rude I thought his employee was. No apology, he only said "We will check the tape", disgusted, I replied "Whatever." and left the store. When I was growing up, manners were the measure of the man/woman. Today, people are reluctant to point out rudeness because of a fear of being labeled a prude, racist or some other adverse nomenclature. As for me... no more Mr. Nice Guy. read more

Yet another of my favorite grocery stores, but rarely visit this location due to distance. However the Aldi stores are remarkably consistent in quality, cleanliness, service and prices and even the layout of the stores is identical or flipped, based on location of door....knowing you will see chips, snacks and wines as you enter and frozen on the wall as you exit. Makes if easy to arrange shopping lists. read more

I've been doing Instacart pickup from the store. When either the instacart or aldi employees bring my groceries to my cart, they're always great. I got my Groceries quickly and the people that bring them out were awesome. Always very pleasant. I always get two orders at the same time and they make sure to keep them separate. When I read that Aldi is the parent company of Trader Joe's, I decided to give it a try. The Aldi-branded grocery is the low-cost side of the company. It's a little different, in that you need to use a quarter to get access to a shopping cart, or you can simply grab any cardboard box off the shelf (the whole box/case of items is put out rather than stocking shelves) or bring in cloth bags and fill them up and carry them to checkout. I do the latter, and I always fill up whatever bags I bring in! If you shop at both Trader Joe's and Aldi, you will begin to notice that many of the same products are stocked at each, but in slightly different looking packages. For example, the same pumpkin spice pancake mix was at both stores but in differently colored boxes. The box at Aldi's was much cheaper but the same ingredients. You will notice the packaging on their items remind you of a product with a big name brand. This is because big brands also make many of their items (as noted in the article I read). You will also find European-made cookies, crackers, chocolates, and speciality groceries like German bread. I have been pleasantly surprised to find organic produce items, as well as frozen organic fruit, vegetables and vegetarian cheeses (no rennet) there. Items can change from week-to-week, but about 75% of the items, staples, are there all the time. When you leave the store you will notice that there are no carts in the parking lot, so you don't have to worry about getting dinged by one. Amazing how hard we shoppers will work to get a quarter back! Be aware that you will need to pay with cash or a debit card. You can also get cash back with your debit card. If it weren't so damn far from me, or in an area that's quicker to get to, I'd shop here exclusively. Spoiled Americans who are upset that they have to rent a cart for a quarter which gets returned when it cart is returned just don't realize that is how they keep their prices so low. Love this place. They are a no frills grocery store. If you want a floral department, cake decorating, or valet cart service, go somewhere else. But if you want to save 40% on nearly everything you actually need, go to Aldi. Great prices on everything. Great produce selection. Lots of organic stuff. It has a minimalist footprint. You bag your own groceries and collect your own cart. The fact that they don't need more employees to do this for you means that you're saving a ton of money. It's a great model for grocery shopping. Aldi is my favorite savings store. Although it doesn't have aisles and aisles of groceries, there's everything you need. Who really needs 58 different cereals to choose from?? I really like the European imports - great chocolates, cheeses, etc, for super cheap. They also have one aisle of specialty items that change each week. One week it'll be home organizing, next week it'll be gardening, next, automotive.... They have 10-15 items for a great price and you won't find it again, so grab it. Be sure to bring a quarter for your cart & bring your own bags. The only negative is this location -- not because of the neighborhood, but the condition of the building & parking lot. I wish North Tampa could get a new Aldi. Clearwater & Largo? Palm Harbor?? have very nice stores. read more

Yes the rumors are true: a quarter is required to use a shopping cart and bringing your own bags is highly encouraged. Luckily for shoppers, the quarter is returned at the end of the shopping experience and if you had to purchase bags because you forgot to bring your own bags this time, well now you have some for next time. I am your typical college student looking to save a dollar here and there... you know how the story goes. For many years I have supported my local farmers market and the Publix down the street but as funds became limited, I began to seek other options. This is when I found ALDI. The wonderful store that offers a wide variety of items for nearly half the price of what you would pay elsewhere. ALDI is my go to for fresh fruits and veggies (get there early in the day), European chocolate, and Gluten-free snacks galore. It's a small store so they do not carry every single thing that you would find in a larger chain but it's a great start. They used to only accept debit cards but as of recently are now welcoming credit cards, too. I highly recommend that everyone check them out at least once because you might be pleasantly surprised! read more
