*All Pretty Good at ALDI* I've known about ALDI for years, but there's none on the Westside of LA. I'm fully aware of their history and relationship with Trader Joe's. Love TJ's. But I've never shopped at an ALDI. Finally decided to check out this ALDI, after grabbing a few things at Sprouts next-door. It's not too often there's two major commercial grocery stores located right smack next to each other. The parking lot is huge so there's no issues landing a parking space at this fairly large shopping plaza on the corner of Gene Autry & Ramon in Palm Springs. Inside, ALDI is slightly spacious, clean and the aisles are nice & wide. I walked up & down every aisle...and was very surprised to find 3 things: Organic Hummus for $2.79 Organic Persian Cucumbers. 1lb package of 8 mini cucs for $3.49 The hummus is fantastic. All natural ingredients. Made with olive oil. No seed oils, artificial crap or fake chemical fillers. Bought "the classic" (my fav) and "roasted red pepper" (wifey's fav) She was pleasantly surprised too how great it is. This is now definitely going to be included in our grocery store rotation. The Persian cucumbers are fresh & crisp and perfecto. It's been 4 days since I got them and they're still just as good & ripe, without any soft mushy spots. Usually when I buy these from other stores, they begin to spoil way too quickly. Sorry Trader Joe's. Also picked up a package of Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil. 50sq ft for $4.99. Great low price and quality. A couple things I noticed tho...only one checkout stand was open, and there was a steady flow of customers. 3 people in line ahead of me, with 3 more in back of me. Lots of customers still shopping. During my entire time at the store, spanning 20+ minutes, I did not see one other ALDI team member in the entire store. It was mid afternoon so it's not like it was primetime lunch break. Not sure if this is the norm or a one-off short-handed day? Nonetheless, since I had a little extra time to spare, I was okay with it. This time. Others tho in the store didn't seem too thrilled. I don't blame them. The girl at the checkout stand was very aloof and not welcoming. Seemed robotic...and didn't come across as if she wanted to be there. Acted as tho she was doing us all a favor being there. Most of us even bagged our own groceries in our own bags. I hope she understands and realizes we customers contribute to paying her salary...and if she keeps this up, one day soon an AI robot will take away her job. I hope not because good customer service is very crucial to enhance the chore of grocery shopping. It's one of the reasons I enjoying shopping at all Trader Joe's -- very friendly & welcoming team members. There's another ALDI in Palm Desert. I intend to check it out and compare. With the price of groceries today I choose my products very carefully. So as not to have damaged cans or fruits or vegetables. Yet the cashier "Holley" didn't seem to care about that and proceeded to throw in to my cart my groceries. I asked her to please be careful with my groceries and she instantly gave me attitude the stomp off leaving me and a line of other folk standing there, while she had her temper tantrum. She came back to tell me to f*#k off and flip me the bird all in front of her supervisor and other customers. Her supervisor took over for her and said she would talk to Holley. Totally uncalled for just cause I asked her to be with my groceries.This is not the first time the cashier's here at Aldi's have done this with not just my groceries but others too. Really nice selection of quality fruits and vegetables. Fresh, clean and appealing displays. Customers were warmly greeted, wide aisles, nice selection. The shopping cart offering was a bit confusing for first time shoppers but not a huge deterrent. I was surprised to see the location was 2 doors down from Sprouts but actually that is probably really convenient for many. Check it out, you might save yourself some money! read more

Wow! I'm an Instacart shopper with over 8,000 orders delivered and probably $thousands of dollars done for Aldi's. As a last resort when I can't locate an item for a customer I ask the staff. After letting me know where the item was this time they said that according to management they were not to help us! Wow! Just Wow! read more

I happened to be eating dinner across the way at Rubios. I needed some lunch items and decided to check out Aldi. Surprisingly, they were clean. The service was great. There were a nice variety of produce and dry goods. The prices were even better. They also have some home goods that were decently priced. I really should shop more here than I do at Stater Bros. read more

I was there not too long ago before they closed and I love Aldi, always cheap and great produce. However, I'm very disappointed with how the managers here treat their employees. Yelling at your employee is never okay and it seemed to be all one sided with the manager on duty. It was off putting to see as a customer! I hope this gets looked into!! read more

I try to eat plant based foods whenever I need to heal or improve my health. I've seen many post on the whole food plant based options at Aldi's and was so excited to see one while on vacation. (None near my home) It was not what i expected. Not bad, not great, just okay! The first interesting thing was the need to put a quarter in the shopping cart to be able to use it. You get the quarter back upon return. The produce is limited, but all the basics and food staples are there and really great prices! I grabbed an avocado that was perfectly ripe for 87 cents! I did not see any of the plant based foods that I expected, so perhaps this varies with location. The aisles remind me more of a dollar store than a market. I would possibly use this for purchasing staples, but I can't imagine you would be able to get everything here! read more

Love your store. Dislike how your 25 cent coin gadget on your carts work. Often it will not release cart after depositing coin. Wish you would check them more often to see if they are working properly. Wish you would tell your cashiers to be more polite when I ask for my quarter back because the basket would not release. Also wish you had better ways of asking where merchandise is located. The store cashiers usually say they are too busy to get something I can't find. I'm an old man and cannot do all that walking . . . just to find that I still cannot find what I was looking for . . . so I leave the store without it. Thanks for listening! read more

Dari the cashier needs a raise, more hours, or whatever will fix her attitude. Inconveniently, I left my card in the car so I paid for most of my groceries in cash. When I told her I would be coming right back to pay for the rest she continued to throw my remaining groceries in a cart that was already full of other merchandise that was not mine. I understand it was my mistake so when I went to take a picture of the grocery cart to refer back to when I returned to get my portion of the items she turned around to her coworker and said "I don't understand why she's taking a picture it" I turned around, asked if she would like to address me and have a conversation to which she quickly denied, raised her voice, and said she would send her manager out instead, whom I never saw. When I returned to finish my shopping she excused herself and avoided me. I would have loved to have finished our conversation. 8pm nothing stocked. Store closes at 9pm. Second time coming at 8pm when store closes at 9pm. The store should not look like this. No produce available and empty boxes. As well as they don't allow you to get meat etc when the isle shades are down. They will not sell you the meat behind the shades. It's a ridiculous 0 star review if I could. I get as an employee wanted to leave work early or right away during "closing" but an hour ahead of not letting guest the items they need isn't right read more

ALDI is a high quality supermarket. It is my main grocery store. I'll only go elsewhere on the rare occasion I can't find it at Aldi. Most items are store brand however these are equal to or superior than name brands. read more

I had THE WORST shopping experience ever at this store location. First of all I've never even visited an ALDI's before and considering that I walked in with my mother expecting to have a great shopping experience, I have to say that the girl working the register by the name of Perla had to be the most unpleasant disrespectful cashier I've ever come across in my 45yrs of life. The savings don't justify the aggrivation. Understaffed, understocked and disorganized. There appeared to be no staff in the store, other than a lone cashier. At 2PM on a Saturday, many shelves were depleted. They had run out of their "special" which was the reason I entered the store in the first place. There was a solitary cashier and a long, long, long line of customers waiting. My wait time for checkout was 10 minutes. Frankly, for the few items I did purchase (5), the savings did not justify the waste of my time in line, especially as I had to go to a "real" grocery to finish my shopping. read more

As a customer, today I felt a form of racism and it was very upsetting. It was busy and the teller asked that another register be open. I was next in line and the new teller (non asian) tried to have the customer behind me go before me. I looked at the teller and he wouldn't make eye contact with me when it was obvious I was next in line so the customer (non asian) behind me let me go first. The customer and I both felt it wasn't right what the new teller did. read more

Went in at 8pm staff was Closing everything down early saying you can't purchase items behind the gray curtains that they put up. Workers telling you you can't grab items. At Aldi you pretty much enjoy a limited "dollar store" style selection but at higher prices. Weirdly, to get a shopping cart you need to deposit a quarter. Who carries change? Food is packaged, canned and the fresh... not so appealing. Empty shelves, lots of non food merchandise that looks like they bought out miss matched auction lots from failed retail stores. My like (not love) for Aldi, has taken forever to be forthcoming. With their, straight out of Germany culture, lack of customer service of any kind, lack of help with bagging groceries and help out to the car... it's one of those places where I will Instacart this store ALL DAY LONG, without reservation. Parking issues, cart issues, help issues, checkout issues, bagging groceries issues. I'm happy the company is making so much money that their stores are over 10,000 and growing. I'm happy that everyone who is a part of this chain, who has any influence or power, is making money hand over fist. I'm NOT happy about how Aldi's treats people who are over 50, seniors, the encumbered, the disabled or those that are overcome by the heat of Coachella Valley. This is not a store that I could comfortably send my mother, grandmother or any elderly type person BUT... what I can say, is that you can find all kinds of items...from the most basic to the biggest specialty niche. I gallon of purified water is: $ 0.85. (the cheapest bottled water anywhere) Kombucha they actually carry. Kalamata olives Hot Dog Buns (decent ones). $0.99 Bananas - NO Lettuces - NO Cream Cheese - $0.99 ! wOw! Sour Cream - $1.39 Cheese Singles $1.55 Feta - NO Gallon of Milk $3.00 Earth Grown Meatless Hot Dogs. $3.19 Pack of 3 ( three ) multi colored peppers Red, Yellow, Green... $3.28 Fantastic! ;-) So...with the use of Instacart... you can avoid the pain. I have popped in a couple times over the last few years and bought a couple of things...nothing really caught me attention. But just recently I went in and took time to really look around at some items and prices and was really impressed. Aldi is now in my rounds on my everyday shopping. Really what got me was the produce and the prices. Definitely will be going there and seeing what new things pop up. It's a smaller location than I've seen on YouTube videos that started to entice me to go take a look. Still offering a good variety of produce, meats, dairy and frozen products, among other essential good. Love looking at the aisle that offers other things like blankets and kitchens needs as well as other things. Would love to check out more locations to see if they offer other options in store. read more

Had order delivered through Instacart from Aldi's. Aldi's have the prices marked up on Instacart. My total was $109 on receipt from Aldis and Instacart charged me $138 due to Aldi's upping the prices on Instacart. Basically $30 more dollars due to Aldis upping the prices plus tip service fee it came out to $158 for what I would've paid $109 at the store due to Aldis fraudulently upping the prices on instacart. read more

While there are of course much better quality grocery stores to shop at, for what they are and offer, the prices are amazing. Their cheese is excellent and very well priced and I love stopping in for their weekly specials, great gifts, seasonal items for the home or holidays. They are great for staple items such as milk and eggs, as their prices are consistently the lowest and their products always fresh and restocked throughout the day. Service is great, store never busy and plenty of easy parking. read more

I am amazed every week, shopping here. They features items that are hard to find and unique, and have a great selection of every day essentials. Staff is courteous, helpful, know the products and keep the store well stocked and clean. The fresh produce is above average, as is the fish and meat department. Quality over quantity! The prices here are really competitive and much cheaper than other places, yet the quality of the food is not compromised. Check this place out. Its such a find..... Bring your own bags, as they do not bag, although they do offer reusable bags and cold/ hot bags for sale at the checkout. I wish there were more in the area! read more

This Aldi's in Palm Springs is ok except for the employees ...the experienced I encountered at this store was humiliating and unprofessional. I've never experienced a situation like this before in a store. As I was checking out at the register and mind you I bought over $100 of groceries and (had my grandson with me) the cashier was so fast checking me out that by the time I got to her I had to take my grandson out of the cart cause they use it for the next person then while I was paying I realized after wards that I needed bag so I asked the cashier (Julia) if I can get some bags or do I have to get back in line she said no I'll charge you right now and asked me how many I needed and I told her 6 so she charged me and for some reason I thought she put the bags in my cart (mind you I'm kinda distracted with my grandson in making sure he's safe ) so I pulled over to the side to bag my groceries and realized I didn't have the bags so I'm guessing I'll have to go get them myself so while I did that coming back to my cart this other cashier (Kyli) yelled "are you going to pay for that" and I said I did I have my receipt and then continued to harass me that I might be stealing those bags OMG .. I told her you should of asked your cashier friend next to you if I paid for those bags but no she continued harassing me and I told her that I want to speak to the manager and she said in a disgusting attitude I am the manager so I told her that I'm calling corporate cause this is not how you treat a customer and that manager is Kyli in the Palm Springs store. And mind you if the cashier (Julia) that I went through would of asked me "hey would you like or need bags" then this whole situation would of been avoided so now I'm boycotting all Aldi's stores ... I don't go spending money at a store to receive rudeness and disrespect from an employee or manager. I love Aldi, I just wish there was one closer to home in my town! Spent about 38 bucks on fixins for breakfast and dinner to BBQ. I do not like how the shopping carts are situated though (.25 to unlock) & no music in the store makes it rather bland. You can find some really good buys. Seems Aldi has slipped up on their corona virus guidelines. The carts are not cleaned between users. There is an employee outside monitoring . Like most stores do but AlDi's strangly hasn't given instruction to their employees on how to reduce virus infection. After returning my cart today, I questioned the employee monitoring about disenfecting the carts and she said they offer cleaning inside there door. So, when you go to the store and pick up your cart, Know your cart is DIRTY!! That the store we love doesn't love us back!! Shame on you, ALDI ! read more

Aldi has the lowest prices on groceries. They even have a lot of items that are organic. You do need a quarter to take a cart, which you get back when you return the cart. You only need to have one quarter. If you don't have one, there are usually carts left in the parking lot (when you return it, you'll have a quarter from now on) or a cashier will give you a quarter if you need one. Just like any other grocery store - you walk through the store and put what you want in your cart. You unload your items onto the belt. At Aldi, after it has all been rang up, you put your groceries into bags (hopefully that you brought with you). You bagging your groceries lets them charge you less because there are less employees. Best of all, you have control of how everything is safely put into your bags. If you want someone to shop, have it rung up, bag it all and deliver it to you, you have the option of using Aldi's app. If you want more choices, and more organic items and you don't care if it costs a lot more, then you can shop at Whole Foods or Jensen's. Luckily, we live in a free country where you can shop wherever you choose. read more

I'm definitely a fan of this store they have excellent prices... especially on meats and the meats are super fresh. The ground beef is super pink, the Italian sausage is super fresh, and the last time I went, I received a deal on chicken thighs. There were about 8 of them And I forget the price but it was ridiculously cheap. It reminds me a lot of Fresh & Easy because of size and scope but it has a little work to do in regards of selection. For example, they don't carry Shake N Bake and I really wanted that for all the chicken! The employees are super friendly as well. Changing this to a 5-star rating! I bought Hot Italian Sausage. When I I finally decided to cook it, well before the sell-by date, I was unhappy because it looked and smelled fowl. I took it back to the store the next day to exchange it for another package. Not only did they exchange it, they gave me my money back too. Best service I've ever received at a grocery store. Will definitely make my local Aldi my first food shopping stop. read more

Not sure about this place anymore.....recently I was told by an employee that it's not their obligation to, "tell me I'm entitled to my twice the money back guarantee" on returned items which is posted all over the internet. So I really didn't like being treated like a schmuck for returning two items that were definitely not good. I've watched a ton of YouTube videos about shopping here which I thought might help with knowing the ins and outs of this place but you get what you get in a world where your best shopping experiences in my opinion are when you can self-check out your groceries rather than dealing with a seated an unhappy checker. You'd think someone who gets to sit down and do their job might be a little more pleasant to deal with. So after many attempts of shopping at this location here's my understanding of how this place works: 1. Bring a quarter or no cart for you. ( This is a perk especially since homeless people will follow you to your car and offer to return your cart in exchange for keeping your quarter.) 2. No car doors will get dinged in the parking lot. (See number 1.) 3. Be prepared to be disappointed as the items from their Aldi Finds section are never in stock despite the sale paper that is stuffed weekly in my mailbox advertising such items. 4. Bring your A-game and be willing to self-advocated for them to honor their double your money back guarantee. 5. Some products are worth shopping there for but YouTube videos paint a strange picture of this place some good and some bad. 6. Don't be in a hurry and be willing to go to a real grocery store if you really need to buy everything a home needs to get by in a week. 7. This is my go-to place to shop. They have most items I need including produce and their prices are the best. Most of their things are their own brand but the quality is equal or better than the more expensive national brands. I have never had any problems with their "double guarantee." Using a quarter for the cart is a minor thing and is done regularly in Europe. It helps prevent people from stealing the carts and leaving them all over the nearby neighborhoods.If you don't have a quarter you can just go in and ask the checker for one. The staff is friendly and efficient. I resent the implication made by another reviewer that the store is in a bad neighborhood and therefore has a low-end clientele because of an altercation he had with an unpleasant co-shopper. Love Aldi!! The prices are amazing! Service wonderful. Quality of food excellent. If I could shop at 3 places it would be Aldi, Trader Joe's and Costco. Give it a try. The reason they are so amazingly inexpensive is because of their speed and efficiency. Bagging my own groceries does me no harm and I think the staff is wonderful. They are definitely efficient! But not only are the prices at Aldi better than almost anywhere else- the quality of product amazing. For the naysayers- keep going to your Stater Bro's or Albertsons!
