They used to have beautiful fresh fruits and vegetables, a nice freezer section. I even bought a tomato tree here once. I don't come often since it's not close, but every once in a while when I'm going to Costco, I'll just drive down a little bit further and stop in and pick up some things. I was so disappointed today. They've gotten rid of 99% of freezer section and they have the old cases for sale, so that's the end of that. Today they had long tables of garbage thrown on top and I'm not quite sure what it was, but people were digging through like it was some flea market garage sale. The entire store has changed and in my opinion not for the better. I was able to pick up a couple of avocados at 3 for a $1, a bag of potatoes so I can make mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving, some tomatoes, and that's about it. I did notice that they had a table full of hot pickle tomatoes that expired 9/20/2025 so that did it for me. I don't understand why you would put out food no matter what price it is, after the expiration date. The other thing that bothered me was the 4% fee for credit card. I know as a fact, if you have the right credit card processing you pay 1.9%. They also had a tip jar at the check out...for what... so the salaried employee can slide your purchases across a scanner and you can put the items in the bags you bring. No one packs your bags here and they don't even have plastic or paper bags. With all the fees, the prices aren't any less than TJs or Aldi. I know now, I don't ever have to drive down here again.

The 99 Cent Farmer's Market in Pompano blew me away with its gorgeous fruit selection, super fresh herbs, and all kinds of miscellaneous goodies -- all at unbelievably low prices. Everything was vibrant, fresh, and far higher quality than you'd ever expect for 99 cents. They even have great snack boxes that are perfect for on-the-go. And as a sweet surprise, we were given a free pumpkin on our way out! The staff made the experience even better. Everyone was warm and friendly, and I have to give a special shout-out to Angelina, our wonderfully helpful cashier, and Anissa -- The Juice Spot Queen -- who absolutely lives up to the title. The market is next door to the Gary B Jones Park for People and Pups so there are usually lots of cute dogs walking around with their owners. Parking is limited in the area by the market but if you don't mind a short walk I find it is easier to park in the dog park area. This Sunday there were vendors were selling local honey, fresh mozzarella, Kona Ice, burgers, fresh produce, tacos, quesadillas, fresh squeezed juice, ceviche, seafood, Melly Nel's Famous Rum Cakes, nut butters, candles, Wolf Den Soup, and live plants. I recognized a lot of the vendors from the Saturday Plantation Farmers Market in Volunteer Park. Well not overly large this market has a good mix of curated items. If you get something to eat there are a few covered picnic pavilions overlooking the canal to dine at. The restrooms are also right there. I was happy to be able to pick up raw local honey that I use in my tea and when cooking. If you are in the area it is worth stopping by.

I found some great finds and some really strange marketing of their grocery items. So, I saw small boxes of flavored tea bags placed next to canned goods and shelved item placement that just didn't make sense, almost comical. I thought that they had cans of sardines located in at least 5 different places on different aisles. My thought was, oops, I just passed sardines...that's okay, here comes more cans. Their selection of items dairy and meat was interesting too because they had seafood from the caribbean and dairy products that were not seen elsewhere. The employees spoke multi languages so everyone local should feel comfortable shopping and very friendly too. I noticed they had pretty much everything from avocados to heavy cookware so there is something for everyone here. The farm store itself has an incredible variety of goods. They have natural eggs, raw milk, meat and seafood available for purchase. They also have natural bottled condiments and honey. On the weekend the petting zoo is open so that's really fun as well and you can spend some time exploring the grounds.
