Aldi's shares a tie to Trader Joe's. The abbreviated history is that Aldi's and Trader Joe's were owned by German brother's who fell out over whether or not to sell cigarettes. In 1962, they introduced the name Aldi, short for Albrecht-Diskont, which translates into English as Albrecht Discount. The company split into Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord, which operate thousands of stores in Europe, the United Kingdom and Australia. Aldi Süd controls the U.S. chain of Aldi stores while Aldi Nord operates in the U.S. as Trader Joe's. ALDI opened its first U.S. store in Iowa in 1976 and now has more than 2,200 stores and is headquartered in Batavia, Illinois. While Trader Joe's has great prices, Aldi will beat them and just about everyone else's prices every time. You can still signs of that German heritage all over Aldi's like in their German line of products called Deutsche Kuche, which offers offers beer, chocolate, roasted coffee, and uncured Bavarian bratwurst. If you want to save money on groceries, Aldi's is a great way to do it. In order to bring you those low prices Aldi's has instituted some cost cutting measures. If you want a cart you will need to bring a quarter and to get your money back you need to return your cart from the parking lot back to the store saving employees from having to collect the carts. You will also have to bring your own bags or pay for theirs. Sometimes I'll just grab one of their empty boxes. Lines used to be long in store because they keep their staff to a bare bones minimum but since they added self checkout I rarely wait in line anymore. I just wish that when you have a markdown you didn't an employee to enter it in for you. I love a new Aldi and I discovered this one after a visit to nearby Green Cay. After my walk I needed to pick up a few groceries and was delighted to discover this newish Aldi less than a mile away on Atlantic Avenue just before the turnpike. Opened on June 27th of this year, this is the second Aldi in Delray Beach, and the 12th in Palm Beach County. There are now 208 locations throughout Florida. The other Delray Beach Aldi is 4 miles east at 4801 Linton Blvd. The store was clean and well organized. I was able to grab what I needed quickly for dinner and was delighted to find that their Christmas items weren't already picked over in the Aisle of Shame. In addition to all of the holiday sweet and treats they have some great home items. I picked up the Pottery Barn reindeer tea light dupes and the gingerbread holiday blanket which is a dupe for the much more expensive Barefoot Dreams blanket. I still have my eye on the gingerbread house charcuterie board. I love being able to save money on my grocery bill which leaves me a little left over to splurge on some of their cute but not necessary items. This Aldi is a great addition to the area.

Was shopping around for a Thanksgiving idea. I am having Thanksgiving dinner alone this year so I was in Aldis and came across a 3 pound boneless turkey breast by Butterball for only $10.00. This even had a gravy package to mix with the drippings for gravy. Decided to defrost it yesterday and cook it off today. Here are the results.... Going to try and get another one for the future. Love, Love, Love Aldis.

There's an intense dynamic of action throughout this joint- upstairs and downstairs. There's professional performers on the center bar top. Walk to the back and there's another live performance complete with more dancers and singing with a dance floor at the stage. What's upstairs? There is DJ dancing - popular high energy music. The drinks are definitely expensive, but that is to be expected in South Beach. The only complaint is the bartenders I visited on the bottom floor to the left bar in the back and upstairs in the DJ room looked like they did not want to be there. Perhaps, this place is too wild for a continuous eight hour shift? Who knows. The jovial atmosphere in this place makes you forget quickly though. I think I stayed here until 2am dancing my ass off. I had a colorful evening and would definitely return! - maybe the dinner and show experience?

Then, when I received my bill, there was an additional $0.25 'health insurance' charge. The amount isn't the issue--it's the principle. Costs like employee health insurance should be built into prices, not added as surprise fees. To make matters worse, when I asked about the charge, the server couldn't explain what it was or why it was being added, so I left with more questions than answers. Between the cover charge, unexpected fees, and lack of transparency, the whole experience felt like a tourist trap. Customers deserve clear pricing and straightforward explanations of any charges before they're added to the bill.

I asked for less ice and less sweetness, and they failed to inform me that it costs an additional $1 for less ice. I have never heard of this happening before- I understand that you use more product, but you should inform the customer before you add that charge. My annoyance only grows as I left my drink for 15 minutes and the milk and matcha completely separated, please see the photo attached. Overall, the matcha itself was not good. It's very grainy and had no flavor. Additionally upon reviewing the menu, each "snow drink" comes with a foam topping which I was not asked about and not received. The ube taro smoothie's first sip was amazing, but every other sip tasted like ube flavored ice water. The actual boba pearls themself are taste great, but they stick together and I can't even get the drink or the boba up the straw. I wouldn't recommend coming here for the boba and I don't plan on coming back.

They also had Astro Boy playing on the bar TV! Astro Boy was also featured on their menu alongside Sailor Moon. The font and graphics on the menu gives manga. I wish I could rave about the food as much as the decor but unfortunately, it was pretty displeasing, to say the least. I had an order of the chicken Katsu Bao buns. I am a huge fan of dim sums and Bao buns (I typically don't eat the open-face ones) so this was very disappointing. The Katsu was so dry, overcooked, and chewy that it seemed like it was leftover, not fresh at all! I'll pass on Baos from here next time. The bobas were great though I got the matcha milk and my cohort got the Ube taro. They were delicious and bobalicious [they were not stingy with the boba] The cashier was very welcoming and our waitress was nice and attentive. The food alone would make this a one-star review but the boba and ambiance helped get it up to 4 stars. I recommend their Bobas, be cautious when ordering food.

I got the Sesame Tofu, and it was a good-sized portion of nicely fried tofu and lots of perfectly cooked broccoli. My boyfriend got the Garlic Chicken combo dinner and he was pleasantly surprised with everything, even the wonton soup that came with his meal. The guy working there that day was not expecting us to want to dine in, since it seems like all of their customers order takeout or delivery, but he gladly gave us some disposable plates and plastic utensils after we got our food in takeout containers. He was very nice and seemed both appreciative and amused that I attempted to speak in Cantonese with him (I am very rusty). Again, since it's a takeout spot, there were only two small tables inside and no outdoor seating, but it was extremely clean inside and very bright, unlike most Chinese takeout spots. Would happily come back here and try other tofu dishes!
