I'm literally sitting in the parking lot writing this. $.25 to get a cart (totally not a big deal but the process of using a cart here is absolutely annoying for a mom with two small children) Grabbed a package of berries none of them were properly closed so they spilled all over the floor, not an employee anywhere in sight. No music makes it even more awkward in there. Selection and layout is just weird and does not make sense. Finally I make it to the 1 counter that is open with 5 employees standing around chatting. Worker- do you want to use your cart? Me-umm yes (thinking wtf do you mean? My cart is pretty full and I have two kids in it) I have bags too. W-oh we don't bag M-ok (walks next to the cart) I can do it W-I'm just gonna scan and throw it in the basket, you bagging will slow me down At this point I am ready to just walk out. Then I notice he is sitting in a chair! Are you kidding me?!?!?!? This place has their priorities DEAD wrong! DONE DONE DONE! Wish I would have just walked out. This place is a joke !!! The whole having to fetch a quarter just to get a cart is so annoying!!! The place is dead they barely have any customers because it's very annoying shopping here. Today was my first and LAST time. I'm sitting in the parking lot writing this review that's how annoying it was shopping here. I spent over $50 and barely got anything, I'm on my way to a real supermarket. And Don't be fooled by their "low prices" it's actually not low at all compared to the quantity and quality of the product you're getting. Love this grocery store. I was hesitant to try it out but the quarter for cart thing and bag your own grocery thing weren't a big deal after all! For a lot of items, the per unit price is lower than Costco but the quantity is smaller. Yes, aldi grocery are not going to be as pretty as Costco grocery, but they taste just fine. Selection of grocery is not great. You can get standard American grocery, but forget about picking up a Napa cabbage or a daikon from here. read more

Great place for many items. First off, you get your 25¢ returned when you return cart to entrance area. Not only groceries, occasionally bargain orchids, and other plants and related items. A folding picnic table! Always unusual finds for a market. One aisle is household , outdoor, automotive, gardening,etc. I find this place fun and love the variety of brands not seen elsewhere in my shopping experience. They also carry several familiar brands. read more

Looks shabby, rate just have more than one cashier. They rush you so much it's ridiculous. Some items are worth the trip but not very many.

Aldi is the type of store where you either love it or hate it. I am of the former. I LOVE Aldi. But Aldi is the type of store that caters to the budget conscientious shopper that is low frills. You need a quarter to get a cart, the store is not "flashy", you pack your own groceries, and you bring your cart back to the front of the store to get your quarter back. If you don't want to do any of these things then Aldi is not the store for you. You won't find your name brand products here but a lot of their own branded items are comparable to name brands and are much cheaper. I used to frequent the Arcadia store and was happy to hear when they opened up in Monrovia. This Monrovia store is a little bit bigger than the Arcadia one. The set up is a little bit different but once I start coming more often I'll definitely get used to it. read more

Always fast, clean and kind. Best price on many items. Good place for basics, and also for cheeses! Their niche is their prices and speed. I recommend to bring a refunded quarter for a cart, even if just getting a few items since it'll make it easier for checking out. read more

LOVE ALDI'S!! My kids do too! Prices are great...especially for families who are trying to stretch a dollar & seniors on a fixed budget. Great selection of many food items that are really products without the name brand so you are not paying for the advertising costs!! I've got my husband hooked...he's on his way there now to stock up on egg's, bacon, etc. for breakfast. Wide aisle's so you're not fighting to getting around the store. Employee's are so nice & very responsive to getting whatever you need. I take my Dad there to do all his grocery shopping too!! Try it once & you will be hooked!! read more

I like Aldi but the last 2 times haven't been all that great. I had taken a friend to shop and due to a medical problem we had to leave fast but there was nobody at any of the cash registers and it took a while for someone to come so I could pay and leave. Plus the last time (just yesterday) I was shorted $10 without realizing it until I got outside. I was due $19 + change back but he only gave me back $9 and change. That's why I like the cashier to count the money back to you. Guess it's my fault I didn't count it right away. read more

After grocery shopping My girlfriend had to use the restroom and had the worst experience. She mentioned both rooms had no toilet paper nor seat covers. We originally went in thinking we were only going to buy a couple items we ended up buying more. So we had it in two bags no cart. The cashier made us feel awkward because she got upset she had to go get a cart. I understand they are timed but there's no reason for an attitude. From now on I'm just going to get a cart even if it just one item I need so i won't get an attitude from the cashier. read more

I love the new Aldi in Monrovia. My only disappointment is the Belmont Gelato which is packaged in a very tough-to-open plastic container. The selection of food, including imported, is great. However their selection of ice cream is woefully inadequate for ice cream junkies. My suggestion....drop the Belmont Gelato in the ammo can container and stock another brand that is more user friendly. read more

It is what it is: a refundable quarter for use of a cart, and you need to bring bags and put your groceries in them. Five stars for great prices (ex., Horizon organic milk for a dollar less than other stores), interesting selection (lunch meats without hormones), delicious treats (chocolate, German cookies), and ever changing selection of frozen options. So went to Aldo for the first time today ... and they start out by charging you a quarter to check out a cart .. But you get it back .. well I use atm for everything so guess what no quarter .. no cart so I go in and ask for a cart that's not chained up .. and manager said nope you need a quarter .. I tell him they need to change that policy .. most folk now don't carry change .. said sorry it won't change he was rude .. I left store ALDI CHANGE THIS .. One star, because zero stars is not an option. I shopped their Grand Opening week. Greeters at the front door were very very busy... socializing with each other. I took a cart, when a worker wanted to explain that the next time I came to shop, I needed to bring a quarter to inset in the cart to use one. This time "I was lucky" because there was already a quarter it it. I walk the isles. Some good deals, not many. Plenty of unknown names. Check out time. As always, I brought my own bag. I put one on the belt along with my small purchase. After scanning my items, the checker was placing them into a basket closest to him. Now, my lucky" basket was next to the one full of my stuff. I paid without a simple "hello" from the checker. Remember, this is their Grand Opening week. I attempt to take the basket with my things, when Mr. No-hello grabs the cart (with my un-bagged purchase) and says to me "no this is my basket" to which I say "then why did you put my stuff in it???" He then says to a fellow employee who was walking by "explain things to her" as he points to me. With a smile at least, she asks me if I had a cart, to which I point to my now empty basket and tell her yes, it was that one. She unhooks "his" basket from checkout, gives it to me and tells me I can bag my stuff over there. A friend told me the prices were very competitive due to no name labels and the quarter/cart deal. I say it's due to no customer service AT ALL! I am a huge fan of customer service. Not a fan of this store. Not getting my quarter or patronage. Big fail! read more

This place will never make it. The store is dead empty on a Saturday. All of the customers are in the one line that is open. According to the register lady, they only have two people in the store and even though the line is backed up, there is nothing they can do. I walked up to the store after going to home goods next door, I had to have a quarter and who carries change anymore?? So, I just decide, "ok, I need a few things I'll just get a basket". Oh, guess what, they don't have baskets for single shoppers. So, I grab a reusable bag and decided that I'll just use that. Not once was I asked if I needed help or if I was doing ok. I looked around and I understand they say the prices are lower, but that's not true. They have very very limited selection and the salads I buy were $1.50 more than Walmart or Target! I needed I get some rice, they don't have the one I need and the 5 minute rice is .35 more than Ralphs. So back to me standing in a long line with only 5 customers and the rest of the store empty. I get to the front and the lady tells me they won't bag my stuff because I'm suppose to do that at their loading station. Are you serious? I paid atleast $10 more for groceries and I have to do all the work too? What kind of business model is that? I won't be back. read more

We like it. As others have noted, it's not for everyone, and it probably doesn't have everything for anyone all the time. But, their food is good quality, prices are great. We like the produce and baked goods. They have what they have when it's there. (One day they had limes but not lemons --?) We are used to going to more than one store -- Sprouts, Vons/Pavilions and Smart & Final don't have everything in the sizes we need either. read more

No recognizable brands, no customer service, prices ok on a few items, meat looked questionable, didn't have a quarter on me so I couldn't use a cart. Don't see a need for this store when there are many other choices with better selection and much better customer service. I just want to say that I love to shop here. They have great deals on products. However, being that my husband and I have been in retail 13+ years and are in the manager and lead positions at our work, yesterday around 7:30pm 8:00pm the customer service is lacking the ability to engage with costumers. No hi how are you, can I help you with anything. Even the cashier for me was just hi do you need a bag today. No hi how are you did you find everything you were looking for. Someone passed my husband 4 time and never said a word to him but looked right at him, I feel like maybe they thought he was going to steal which kinda upset me. If that was not what they were doing then I feel if the employees would be more engaging they'd make people like my husband and I feel more welcome. And cashiers wouldn't make us feel like they just want the day to be over. Other then that I love to shop there for good deals close to home. read more

At the Aldi store in Monrovia this afternoon, 9/22/18, 4:08 pm, bought 3 cartoons of eggs & 3 pineapples. A total purchase of $5.22, gave cashier, Arthur a $20 bill not knowing that he only gave me $4 & change until I went to another store! Uuugghh!!!
