To begin, I was at the hot bar, waiting for an extended period of time, which another customer even noted, and when the woman came from behind the counter, she proceeded to touch her nose as well as the interior of the food dish, which was concerning. I actually declined taking the food. The bathroom - I'll just leave that to your imagination, but it was pretty gross Overall, the store seems dirtier, and the managers are less friendly than the gentleman who used to be there. The high school kid at the checkout was rude and had an attitude, and the kid packing the groceries threw my items in like it was a bag of Legos. This was really upsetting. So while there are some essentials when a quick pick up is needed, given the price of the prepared foods in the overall state of things in the market, going with three out of five stars, which is pretty generous at this time

Before I go on about a…read morecouple of negative experiences with the front service desk woman, I will say that Adams is a pretty good market and convenient that gives you a homey feel and not that big wide chaotic supermarket feel. The customer service woman has no customer service skills whatsoever. She is rude and cold and looks at you like you are a piece of dirt when you make a mistake at the self checkout isle when she tried to help me today she was condescending and said "I told you blah blah blah". I will not stand for that behavior. I will not put up with anyone being rude to me for no reason, because common courtesy and warmth to me is something that I practice every day. And when you are in the service industry you should know to practice that every day. Shame on the people that have this woman still working there and not taking her to the side and explaining how to practice good customer service. Part of my going into a business is the whole experience. And this experience is not a good one.

Recently I was shlepping to Whole Foods for one thing, asked the manager if he would see if they could get it-- and within 2 days Walter Stewart's carried it!! They also have a true commitment to the local community, giving back and sponsoring events, in addition to supporting fledgling local food businesses and sourcing local ingredients, especially in their produce dept. It seems that every time I shop there I discover something new and delicious to serve my family-- from Whole G breads, to Gracious Gourmet spreads, local apples and cider doughnuts, to gourmet olive oils. I feel fortunate to have this market with small-town feel, but sophisticated offerings, in our town.

We are making Lobster Fra Diavlo for din and we already got fresh Maine Lobstahs lol from a local fish monger but we needed to get all of the rest of the ingredients for the dish as well as making a pan bagnat for lunch (Niçoise tuna sandwich). We found all the beautiful and fresh ingredients we needed as this store is not lacking for want. I also got a couple of bouquets of fresh flowers and the single genius flower bunches were beautiful but I wanted a premade bouquet and the selections of premades were all starting to look a bit wilty sadly; maybe time for a sale to clear them out. This grocery store is very clean and nicely stocked. There were some ladies promotion vegan meat and they were offering samples but all the different departments had their own fair share of nice tempting goodies. It was packed and parking was tough but they are calling for some decent snow tomorrow (up to 18") so that didn't help the weekend rush. A nice grocery store that our family that lives here are regular and we frequents when we visit.

I decided to try the chicken quesadilla for $20 and the three-cheese chili dip... it was awful! The quesadilla was mostly bread, super bland, and tasted old. The garbage can enjoyed it. And the dip had no taste... like, what the heck happened here? Taco Bell would've been gourmet compared to this one. Whoever the cook or chef making this is, you apparently suck at making food. Disgusted and disappointed. The store is clean and the people working are great. But think twice before buying the prepared meals; for $ 9.99lb, you might just be wasting money.

Although I wouldn't complete all my grocery shopping here, I would definitely buy some sale and/or specialty items in the future.

I believe it's a scam to get you in the door and they don't make the good sushi for "sushi Wednesdays". Anyone who buys sushi and gets it with that mayo crap on it that's ridden with cancer causing seed oils will have health issues at some point. If you want good sushi get it at Whole Foods or Stew Leonard's. I gave Big Y too many chances.

We got a bunch of things here for lunches and dinners, including bowtie pasta salad with chicken; burrata cheese; beautiful heirloom tomatoes; snap peas; Italian wedding soup; chicken salad. Everything was super fresh, organic and delicious. And the service was not only friendly and attentive, it was super relaxed... while I like Ridgefield there is this overlying social tension everywhere that results in a sort of frosty service in some of the businesses. And hey I get it if I had to provide service to uptight, image conscious, egotistical patrons every day I'd probably end up the same way!
