Good old ALDI. If you've seen the "documentary" series, "Drive to Survive," on Netflix, you may remember a segment involving Guenther Steiner and ALDI. Funny! I don't shop here for that reason. I do so because a friend told me about the advantages of going. She first explained how one quarter was needed to get a shopping cart and how it would be given back upon return. A further summary of deals and finds was given. I'm not here often but it is interesting looking around. If you're not looking for a fancy experience, I think you can walk around the store, find something you want, and leave satisfied. I purchased blueberries, yogurt, and some toys for my cats. Terrible selection and customer set up. The store feels like if you had to shop in Russia, they have almost nothing. We are well past the egg crisis and these guys are just routinely out of eggs... like OUT COMPLETELY! "Well, at least I can call before I go in to see if they have what I need." you'll think. I understand that this place does not provide bags, but I brought my own bags and thought that maybe they would bag the items for me but they're so freaking lazy that they just completely overlooked the fact that I brought bags and started putting stuff around the bags and the grocery cart. Aldi is popping up everywhere these days. This location is on El Toro in the Lake Forest side of town. As always, Aldi has an interesting selection of groceries. I really like that their eggs are reasonably priced. Their Simply Organic sourdough bread is the best I've tried. This newer location in Lake Forest still has the same alcohol selections and cheese selections. The organic produce is less than you'd find at a Whole Foods or Sprouts but there are some deals to be had at Aldi. I like that you can either use self-checkout or go through a cashier line. You still need to use a quarter to unlock those shopping carts but that's neither here nor there. You get that quarter back when you return the cart. I did not interact too much with the store staff which is fine by me. The store is mostly kept clean. They need to restock items more but it depends on demand. I find some products here that I don't find elsewhere which is always nice. read more

First time in this new location. The location to me is just ok but the store inside is beautiful. The produce that I got were fresh much better than the other locations. Everything was organized, store was nice and larger than other stores. Not many employees, more self check out lines which causes issues with staff working harder when issues occur. Today a man was in self checkout and bc he had alcohol he had to checkout and then go through another line to get the alcohol which makes sense but he didn't understand and couldn't speak English. I was very happy with the offerings and cost of what I purchased, at least 30 percent less than competition food stores. read more

Im officially a Fan! I joined an Aldi group online and was floored when i saw others in the group across the nation sharing cool finds in Aldi. A few days ago, i saw a post regarding a pool, a cooling fan, and other items that others were raving about in the group to help them cool off because of the hot days that have been occurring across the US. I made a mental note to check next time i was at Aldi because alot of people were talking about how they couldn't find it. Fast forward to yesterday. My intuition guided me to Aldi. I didn't scroll up and down the aisles , which i normally would do. Instead, i was steered toward the promotional aisle. Lo and behold, i found the coveted pool, fan, and pool accessories. I literally felt like i won the lottery! I didnt have the quarter to get the cart outside to load my items in. The very nice cashier loaned me a quarter and i was able to score a cart. Yay! My haul was amazing. Today, while everyone was celebrating Americas birthday with BBQ, the beach, or other outside fun. I chose to celebrate it at home with my floof,quietly sipping some cold drinks and soaking in my new pool. Holy moly! The best investment ever. I needed to cool off, and it was soo easy to set up! Thank you Aldi for your Aldi finds! Not only can you find food, snacks, and meat here. But you can find awesome stuff for your home, garden, or accessories to make your life easier! Officially opened! Went the day prior for soft store opening. Don't be Yay for Lake Forest ! As you may know, they've got great options are great prices! Fresh produce, wonderful place ! Today the first 100 people in line got a number, and got a random gift. Gift cards, they did the ribbon-cutting as well, and they were people there from the city. If you're looking for organically grown produce, this is not your store. Major brand or a house brand item such as Shredded Wheat? Forget about it. Non dairy cheeses or ice cream? Nope. Wide aisles, nice. 8 self check out stations, but only 4 were working. $.25 cent coin required to unlock a cart, and no hand held baskets. Sure, their avocados were only 59 cents today, listed as medium or large, but only a few years ago they would have been called extra small. Why bother shopping here? Pavilions, Vons, Albertson's, Ralph's, Costco, Trader Joe's far superior. read more

At any rate , we get good variety , all reachable . Terrific assortments of chocolate bars (which tests my sweets - control ) Produce maybe the best out there . Check out IS a breeze w friendly and efficient and eager cashiers . Floor stockers and advisors know their stuff and give you a groovy smile esp when you ask for the tuna shelf !! Prices were decent--I would say similar to Walmart in Lake Forest with less selection for brands you are familiar with. The location just opened this week and appears clean and really organized. The staff seemed helpful and friendly when I needed assistance. The biggest negative is that I did NOT feel safe! The security alarm went off over 7 times during my short visit. Theft is rampant and they need additional security or a security checkpoint before you reach the exit. The area they placed this Aldi's is questionable-- especially at later hours. More than likely I will go to Walmart in the morning hours or Ralph's vs here because I don't want to be concerned with blatant criminal activity in my presence. read more

This new Aldi store on Muirland in Lake Forest which has only been open for 2 months is night and day from the Aldi's in Laguna Hills ! The store is much cleaner and has wide isles making your shopping a lot easier' The display of food is just right on the button! What's most important to me is Management which has a "Yes attitude "that you can see it in the employees from top to bottom! A very special Yes attitude the Lake Forest store! You can tell that the employees we dealt with in Lake Forest store were happy and helpful with no such response from the employees in the Laguna Woods store! We bought some produce and pork chops here the other day. The produce started going bad immediately and barely lasted a couple days. We went to eat the pork chops yesterday on the 11th. The "sell by" date was the 15th. So they should be fine. When we took the plastic off the top, the pork chops were so rancid that it stunk up our entire house. I don't know what the hell is going on at this location because I've never had these issues at the location in Laguna Woods. read more

This location is more spacious than the Aldi down the road and also seemed much cleaner. I bought the sliced Italian bread, which is a naturally fermented bread - basically a sourdough - and popped it in the refrigerator when I arrived home. I've kept many breads like this in the fridge for several weeks with no sign of mold. Even without preservatives the natural fermentation process keeps it fresh. But this loaf became moldy after 1 week! There was other frozen bread on the shelf that was on clearance when I was there, which had apparently been popped back in the freezer after if started to get too old. I don't think I will be back and am pretty grossed out. I had been eating some of the bread untoasted and ended up with a very sick stomach. read more

My wife and I love Aldi because of its prices, options, and convenience. Aldi finds aisle has been great for different European treats and home goods. Definitely recommended going for your grocery needs. read more
