We visit this Aldi location at least two times a week. They have plenty of great deals and it's only a mile away from home. Most of the products they carry are Aldi exclusive brands which means they're comparable to name brands at lower cost. Some of our repeat buys include: * Dozen eggs for $0.99 cents * Head of cauliflower to make cauliflower rice * 12-pack Keurig coffee pods for $3.99 * Vine tomatoes for $1.99 per bag * Big tub of Organic Spring Mix salad * Bottle of wine * Head of broccoli Aldi's cashiers have to be the fastest in the world as they zip through your items in record pace. Since we bag our own, it's difficult to keep up. I always have to check my receipt to ensure that my items weren't scanned twice. No issues so far!

I have been shopping here for the past year ever since they opened. I've Never had a bad experience because it's always a quick grocery shopping trip for hubby and I. The place is small but very well organized and very easy to find what we need for the week. The price is unbeatable, selection is limited but the produce and poultry are very fresh. Their eggs are sometimes $.69 for a dozen which is an insane price. Grapes and apples are very cheap sometimes as well as their Wine, you could get a bottle for $2.99. I like how efficient their employees are and how quickly they check everyone out at the same time. They don't provide bags so we need to bring our own and the cart is $.25 to rent. I like the system they have in placed and I hope they'll open more Aldi in other places in Jacksonville.

You can find a little bit of everything at Aldi. Mostly off-brand quality items at a good price. Not to mention some unique things you may not be able to find anywhere else. Or certain items you can just flat out get cheaper than anywhere else (like milk or eggs). Likewise, you can't find everything...it's really kind of the things that you need the most and/or sell the best for the store. Let us not forget the German and other European items they carry...YAY! I have personally shopped Aldi all over Europe in addition to the United States. Everywhere you go they seem to be the same, but different. That said, this store seems slightly larger than others. However, don't let that fool you, they all seem to hold the same amount of products and I've noticed they don't carry a few things here that they do at the St. Augustine store and that is a smaller store. It's ok though, everyone has their idea of their own personal favorite market. This store does seem busier due to the location and honestly the staff doesn't seem as welcoming or as friendly as other stores. Parking can be indifferent since it's located in a busy shopping area. Don't forget your quarter to get a shopping cart! Then don't walk away from your cart without remembering to get your quarter back! Hey...at least it's not a Euro like it is in most of Europe! And it's a pound coin in the UK! Plus, bring your own bags or you may find yourself without any way to carry your purchases unless you buy a bag...yes, they do have some available for purchase. Boxes are often inside for your usage as well. Did you know there is a cool history about Aldi? Indeed! In 1913, Anna Albrecht opened a small food store in Essen, Germany by the name of Albrecht Discount. Around 1948 her sons took over the store and expanded to 4 stores total...becoming a chain. Ahead of their time in 1954, they opened the first self-service checkout store in Essen-Schonnebeck. The abbreviated version of Albrecht Diskont was introduced in 1962 as ALDI. However, in 1960 the brothers had a dispute on whether to sell cigarettes and it ultimately led to the stores splitting into two parts and then renamed Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd. The stores remain separate to this day and are headquartered in two different places in Germany. Aldi fun facts: - Aldi Süd (South) is the one we are most familiar with here in the United States. The first store opened in Iowa in 1976. (Yes, that makes this location part of Aldi Süd.) - Aldi Nord (North) bought Trader Joe's in 1979 the United States. Yes, that makes Trader Joe's Aldi store. - They used to be a cash only store and through the years they have adjusted what payments types they would take. But in addition to cash and a few other forms of payment...they all take credit cards now! Woo Hoo! In closing...I think anyone can find something at Aldi's to try. If you have never been here, then give it a go or just stop in to check it out. Personally, every time I step in a store it makes me miss living in Europe...so I go partly for the "feel" of it! Yes, yes...the stores in general are still different from their European counterparts, but still close. Enjoy!

A fraction of the price of Lucky Charms but without the HFCS and synthetic dyes. Can't tell the difference in taste.

I'm totally going to age myself by saying that I've been shopping at Aldi's off and on for over two decades. The very first time time I shopped at one was with my grandma and she did not care for it. She said the store was for poor people because of the quarter cart rental and you have to bag your own grocery. Fast forward to present time, I've converted grandma into an Aldi's fan for about five years now. Better late than never. Aldi's has really evolved since my first visit. The quarter cart rental and self bagging has stayed the same, but within the past year they started to accept credit card, making it more convenient to shop. They've phased out synthetic dyes and HFCS in their private label brands, offer affordable gluten free, and baby products. 90% of their product is their own exclusive brand. This doesn't mean it's inferior quality. I haven't been coming here often but when I do, I stock up on the Marshmallows & Stars cereal for my girls. I refuse to buy Lucky Charms bc of the synthetic dyes and HFCS, but the Millville brand doesn't have either of these and plus it's a faction of the price. Not only do they sell grocery, but they carry home goods as well. I've brought some patio cushions from Aldi's for half the price of other stores. Their weekly produce features can't be beat and sometimes they're local. The strawberries I bought this weekend was from Plant City. I use coupons occasionally, but you don't need it here since things are priced pretty competitively. I like the Middleburg location slightly better because it seems bigger and they don't have a shared parking lot but this is the only location in JAX. If you've never been at an Aldi's before, don't be a snob, bring a quarter and your own bag or grab one of the empty boxes and give it a try.

Sneaky big brand imitation cereal boxes. Fruit Rounds, Marshmallows & Stars and so on.

American's, please pause as you will need to mentally prepare yourselves before stepping into Aldi's. This is not a supermarket like any other, it has not been pleasingly designed with decor that kisses your eyes as you walk around, with products nicely laid out on shelves and arranged from bottom to top from value to high-end brands. Aldi's minimises the fluff in order to pass on savings. The stores are smaller than their USA counterparts and they adhere to the increasingly popular No Frills approach: the packaging that the products are delivered in also double as the product display, reducing the amount of staff they need to stock shelves and keep the store running, allowing them to pass on that cost saving to customers. Fun fact: Aldi's is owned by the same company that owns Trader Joes and in fact TJ's is essentially the pricey, gourmet big brother of Aldi's. The same people who source and buy products for TJ's also buy for Aldi's. To start with, if you want to take a shopping cart in with you, you'll need to insert a $0.25 coin (refundable when you return it). This guarantees that you'll return it, which eliminates their need to hire staff to round up stray carts that are usually to be found growling at cars in standard supermarket parking lots. They don't provide hand-baskets, but there are an abundance of cardboard boxes around the store which, if you're canny enough, you'll grab and use as an impromptu basket. At checkout, they do not provide courtesy plastic bags for groceries, however for $0.06 each you can purchase a sturdy plastic bag with reinforced handles. You're guaranteed to recognise almost none of the brands here. This is because they are exclusive to Aldi with almost no big household name brands currently sold, allowing them to offer fairly significant savings on some items and you'll find lots of privately branded versions of American foods in packaging that looks very similar to their big brand counterpart. The store is made up of 3 aisles (or possibly 4, I genuinely can't remember) of products starting with cookies, candy, cereal and chips, winding around to fresh fruit and vegetable produce, canned goods, kitchen and bathroom products and then snaking into bakery products and wine. Along the back wall is a chilled dairy and meat section, at the back end of the aisles are freezer cabinets holding instant meals, pizza and frozen desserts and along some of the rear left wall are additional chilled and freezer cabinets holding eggs, frozen vegetables and meat and so on. You will find numerous items that, for the price and quality, are a great alternative to their more expensive branded counterpart. It will take a few minutes to mentally adjust to the differences between Aldi's and other supermarkets, but as long as you take a handful of plastic grocery bags with you and maybe a sturdy canvas tote to double as a hand-basket, you'll be fine. I recommend first going on a reconnaissance mission and simply exploring the store at your own pace, getting acquainted with the products and prices. Then you can plan your next trip a little better and come armed with a shopping list.

The Strawberry Piñata cake is really good. The filing actually falls out like a real piñata and it's tasty too. Try it!

Trader Joe's dirty little brother is the best way to describe this place. They have great prices on quality fruits and vegetables. I don't know is it's the cheap looking not name brand boxes but the place seems dingy to me. The 1st time I went here we were on our way to Trader Joes. Trader Joe's just seemed so much classier, brighter and cleaner. All the items I've bought from Aldi's are really good. I guess it depends on your budget but I'd rather drive 15 minutes longer and go to Trader Joe's. Aldi is still a very good store just not my favorite.

This Aldi is laid out pretty much the same as the store in Middleburg. It is clean, well laid out, and has large isles. The products are great and the prices just cannot be beat. I came in on a Monday night and it wasn't thoroughly busy, I found everything I needed and got to the register with no line. It was easy to get in and out. The parking lot is a great size and is near Target. Remember to bring a quarter for the cart "rental" and also to bring your own bags of you don't want to buy them. Aldi seems like a great brand and I will definitely be back time and time again. I am happy to have an Aldi on the Southside near work!!

Quick, no fuss grocery shopping. Aldi does thing a little different. They try to be as efficient as possible, and they pass the savings on to the customers! Here are a few of things I have noticed: 1) A quarter (25 cents) is needed to get a shopping cart. When you return the cart, you get the quarter back. They do this to encourage shoppers to return the cart back in the area. Now they don't have to pay a worker to fetch the carts that are all over the parking lot (ie Walmart). 2) They don't offer 100 different brands for everything. This let's them buy in bulk, thus making things cheaper. 3) Shopping bags are not free. You have to pay for them. So you can either go bagless, bring your own, or buy one of theirs. I am not sure how much they save doing this, but they are at least being environment friendly. 4) Products are usually stored on shelves with their original packages. No fancy displays, no fancy produce misting systems. 5) The footprint and layout of the store encourages quick grab and go. It almost feels like every aisle is a one-way direction only. You can turn back around of course, but the flow of traffic kind of discourages it. I feel like my shopping time is more efficient when I go to Aldi. 6) The check out lanes are FAST. I like to challenge myself at the check out lanes. Who is faster - me unloading my cart or the cashier that is scanning the items. Most of the time they beat me. They scan and throw everything back into your cart. You pay, then move to the side counter and bag them yourself. 7) The workers are usually really happy and eager to help. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am. That is how I would summarize my experience at Aldi. Not everyone will like it. But when you look at the receipt and see how affordable it is compared to some places, the business model starts to make sense. The only complaint I would have is the parking area. It does get a little busy in this plaza.

Love, love, love Aldi! They have cheap organic foods and other affordable products! Strawberries for $99?? Yes, it's true and they were delicious! My stepson and his girlfriend are also big fans of their ice cream. I also admire that they encourage you to make use of their refundable cart rental to avoid stray carts taking up space in the parking lot. I read that this is just one of the reasons their products costs less, by not hiring someone to police the shopping carts. Isn't that great?!!
