Went here to return some yogurt that was bad for the twice as nice guarantee policy and was met with rudeness and a really bad attitude not from the cashier, although it seemed that she was not familiar with the store policy, but from the other female employee there. They did not want to honor the store's policy. They wanted me to pay for the items still. They also said that they needed a receipt. We did not have a physical one seeing as we did not know that the yogurts would be bad, but we did have a picture of the receipt from Saturday night. I have never been treated like this at any other Aldi in years. We have shopped at Aldi every single week for as long as I can remember and have never been treated like that. On top of all of this, this store has been the worst when it comes to cleanliness, it is extremely unkept and food is left out. The worst though would be the attitude of the employee with whom I dealt with. The items were bought on 4/25 around 8pm and we returned them on 4/27 around 8pm. We will never go back to this store location ever again. It is absolutely disgusting and the treatment we received was completely unacceptable and uncalled for. When everything in our economy has increased in price, it's still nice to know Aldi's has some of the lowest prices available. They won't always carry what you're looking for but for everyday essentials you can guarantee that you'll find what you need here. Some produce is always a great deal here. When I'm visiting a friend and short in time I like to grab chocolates and a beverage here to bring to their house. It's always a hit. I'm looking forward to this year's advent calendars. Aldi near me! I walk here as I am just across the street. Super convenient! Aldi has amazing prices. Aldi does not necessarily have a huge variety of items, yet this is what makes it unique and more manageable. Too much displayed is way more overwhelming I think. Have a quarter for your cart, bring your own bags, bag your own items, and or wait your turn to check out from one of two registers; is worth the prices that are offered! Having to use a quarter for your cart is going to knock off additional employees for all day to have to bus those carts! Not a big deal for me again minimizing where they can is worth the prices they offer! I see some people get frustrated with these Aldi employees over only one register being open or just two being open; again the less employees on site the more affordable our groceries can be! Keep in mind these Aldi employees are not the CEOs of the company so lighten up on them. They always are very pleasant even while being yelled at. Come with the patience. Enjoy your browsing about and get your affordable groceries. We definitely are here at least three days a week! We have a large family and our refrigerators only can hold so much. If you like Trader Joe's, you might appreciate Aldi's, because they are owned by the same people. If you don't have a quarter, I heard that if you ask an employee, they can give you one. Aldi's doesn't want you to leave and not shop, just because you don't have one. I've never tried it but that makes sense to me. Visited today for the first time. Tiana, the cashier was super nice when I reported smashed fruit on the ground that could be a hazard. She was also very nice upon checkout. The selection was much more than I expected and it reminded me of the now defunct, Fresh & Easy. They have organic produce, the price isn't bad either. I was really impressed with their cheese selection and how cheap their European chocolates were. I got a large bar for $2.65, would have cost more at Target, which is where I go often for cheap groceries. Check out their nut selection and the milk was super cheap there. I don't live in the area, wish there was an Aldi's in my area. They had frozen foods and ice cream, that I wish I could buy but they would melted in this hot weather. Aldi's is not a location that I frequent. There isn't a particular reason, I just don't happen to. That being said the few times I have gone, it's been a hit or miss situation for me. The store is very clean and well stocked. My issue is often with their lack of open registers. I have been several times to this store and found it to be very clean, well lit and the staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are much lower than Ralphs or Stater Bros. Just a few examples: Sour cream at Ralphs on sale $2.99. - At Aldi only $1.19. Package of 24 Ibuprofen at Ralphs for $1.99. At Aldi I get 100! pills for the same price, same dosage. Avocados $1.29 at Stater, only $0.49 at Aldi I don't mind bagging my own items, after all, it is just one of many ways how Aldi keeps the prices low. However, I can also see where a bagging service would be helpful, for example if people bring their kids to the store. Generally speaking though, I think people make too much of a big deal out of it and I wonder why the same shoppers don't complain about bagging their own stuff at Winco, Costco, Food4less etc?! But now suddenly at Aldi, it is this huge obstacle ... I like the cart system, because I don't see any carts in the parking lot and hopefully we won't see any crashing into cars on windy days like it happens all too frequently at other stores, because people do not return them. The 25 cent deposit is no big deal, since you get it back. Checkout has been fast due to speedy cashiers and the fact, that there are barcodes on several sides on Aldi products and the cashiers don't have to twist and turn the items to scan. I have tried a variety of their store brand products and the quality is comparable to the bigger name brands, which is great because you will pay considerably less. Constantly reminded why I prefer Trader Joe's over this place. Stopped here for convenience. Used my Trader Joe's bag as my "basket" since they only offer carts. When checking out the cashier stacked all my items on the cart seat area and proceeded to place the nexts shoppers items in the basket part of cart. Not to mention I had about a dozen items and the other shopper had three. I had to hurry and throw my items in my bag and then had to rearrange it in the bagging area. I'm just saying some customer consideration would be nice. It doesn't hurt to be mindful or have customer service. I have heard good things about this store. You pay a quarter to rent a cart (which is returned after you return the cart). I chose to go without a cart. They have an amazing drink selection. Love the variety. Prices are pretty comparable to other places. They have basics in the store, but most items do not have a variety of choices. They do have decent prices on most items. The store seemed small. They pack a lot in. They do miss a lot of personal hygiene products which is a bummer. I still have to go to other stores to get the rest. I went to the Grand Opening late in the day and found Aldi to have some good deals. All of their items are generic brands made for them, but just like the real thing. I picked up a few items. You need to deposit a quarter 25 cents to get a cart which is something different. They also do accept all major credit cards. ALDI is here to pump you up or at least your wallets by saving you shopping $, but at the same time, they are going to nickel and dime you AND quarter you for shopping carts and bags. Nothing fun or festive. Except the cereal aisle. Initially, the boxes look like name brands, but when you look closer, they are not. It's the same type or flavor of name brand cereal, and the box design and color are the same, but they give it a different name, and the character is different. For example, yellow box looks a lot like Cheerios, but it's not, it's a knock off. Another box looks like Lucky Charms, but it's not. My beloved Leprechaun is gone, and instead there's some old wizard guy. Trickster rabbit also missing. At first, I found this very disturbing and disorienting. Did I have too much wine, or am I being punked?! Then after I took a few moments to collect my marbles, it became somewhat entertaining and funny. Moving on . . . Or trying really hard to! Why the heck are the shopping carts Costco sized when this is such a tiny store? Come on German engineering, give us a shopping cart size that matches your uber efficient store! (Hint--go look at the fun size carts at Sprouts in Upland). Prices are fairly reasonable. The best deals I saw were $ .99/lb for green grapes, $.39/lb for bananas, $.50 for dozen eggs. I didn't check out the meat section, but good prices for cheese/dairy. I picked up some staples and some goodies--vino, prosciutto panino, and chocolate raspberry strudel. Ok shopping experience, but some things were odd (besides the cereal aisle and giant sized carts.) Gardening supplies in the middle aisle of the store? Why? And at the entrance, there was a traffic jam. Apparently caused by the placement of candy at the entrance. I might return, but this location is not really in my neighborhood. I was on a shopping date with my friend who lives in the area. Another store is scheduled to open in La Verne, a little closer to home. Right now, there's supposed to be 8 stores opening in southern california this week. Their distribution center is located in Moreno Valley. The reason why it's so small and there's not a milion things like food4less or walmart is because it only sells the most commonly used/needed things to be energy efficient by only using a small amount of space. With this small amount of space, they save money on electricity bills and staff which means that the prices of their food and merchandise is cheaper as well. GROCERY BAGS ARE 15 CENTS FOR PLASTIC AND 10 FOR PAPER. REUSABLE BAGS ARE $1.99.TO USE CARTS, YOU PUSH IN 25 CENTS TO UNLOCK THE CART AND WHEN YOU'RE DONE, TAKE OUT THE 25 CENTS. Everyone seemed really excited to be a part of the Aldi brand. It just opened so everything is new and clean. Nearly all the produce looked great aside from a couple of avocados that were overly ripe and some tomatoes that seemed to give organic a bad rep because they weren't as vibrant as the other tomatoes. Selection of items were fairly standard but that's so it doesn't needlessly waste space and money, resulting in lower prices for you. The carts are Costco big and this kind of worries me because it will result in the same type of gridlock especially since this is a smaller store. That same fear applies to the counter you use to bag your groceries. Sometimes we become a little absent minded or too self entitled but we'll see how it goes. read more

There were quite a few knats flying around the fruit section. It was pretty gross. I needed a red onion but had to put it back,all of the onion's were in bad shape,rotting and molding. Went in today to see if they had the cheese advent calendar that has been in the ad since last Sunday. I went to Covina Aldi they didn't have them. I sent my husband to this store two days ago and they were keeping a list of customers who wanted the product. Today I went in didn't see them out and asked again after being put on the list. They have them in but are not putting them out they are saving them for customers on the list. Good for me I was on the list, bad for everyone else. Ok, so to say that I was seriously shocked when I walked through Aldi's doors is an understatement. Everyone at work kept mentioning this new grocery store, Aldi, and how inexpensive it was and how modern and what not. They mentioned it carried organic foods, etc, and I thought, ooooh I have to check this place out. Maybe it's like a budget trader joes???? WRONG! So I don't usually write reviews about grocery stores, because really, I don't think many people read reviews for grocery stores before they decide to commit to shopping there. But for the few of you that do, I felt the need to share my experience so that y'all weren't as shocked as I was. The truth is, it's a budget store, and that's it. Even if some of the stuff that I bought was organic, everything about it screamed cheap. Reminded me of the food they sell at the 99 cents store (as someone else mentioned in another review). Everything is still in boxes, and it all just screams basic. Plain and simple. You pick out your bags before you pay, then you head over to a counter to bag your items. Oh, and last but not least, you have to pay a 25 cent deposit for your cart. You put a quarter in and I think you get it back after you're done? That's the idea anyway. The Germans (ALDI) are in Fontana, Ca and spreading across California to a neighborhood near you with the next craze of small markets competing with both union and non-union retail. This particular location is pretty fierce all within 1/16 of a mile you have a union supermarket who's slogan reads "the low-priced leader in your hometown" and the other has a giant red bullseye logo LOL. This is officially my 3rd visit and finally came with the idea of buying groceries for the next 5 days to see how it benefits our life style. Insert .25 cents to free up a shopping cart and you're good to go. I came on a Sunday and found store to be mid occupied with shoppers and that in itself was a bit on the crowded side. I found myself leaving cart off to the side to approach goods and carry back to cart. It was basically like this on every aisle. One thing that is awkward for at least this location, as you enter floor plan, you find yourself entering your first aisle that eventually leads to produce. One would think to offset entrance as oppose to how this store is situated. In comparing to markets of this size, it definitely comes in on the larger side to that other store that wears laid back shirts and usually has America - Horse with no name playing over the speaker system. Produce section is small but it presents well and is stocked with both organic and traditional one can expect to find. I did find single organic avocados needed attention. A lot of over ripe avocados starting to peel and contaminate. I saw one dedicated employee making rounds to ensure floor is clean and free of debris, made multiple rounds. I also saw (2) employee's observing the flow of foot traffic, facing off products and keeping adverts in plain view and adjusting. Also came across a small "general merchandise" section that carries simple clothing goods, kitchen aids, home tools. The outer section of store has all of your frozen goods, cold cuts, breakfast meats, dairy, eggs, juices and meats (no butcher service). Decor is very basic with a modern euro edge. Refrigerated equipment is built solid and durable with solid handles and stand above average. Floor chests are lit and bright with sliding glass tops. You might have to accept these generic name brand goods and see how well they are. Ventured off and got flour tortillas, nuts, cottage cheese, sour cream and whole milk for our kids. You can also find famous name brands as well and you have that choice. With all that being said, prices at ALDI are far below everyone else and I'm sure it's making waves. Generic labels are well below and so are name brands discounted drastically in comparison. Example of low price - Friendly Farms whole milk, 1 gallon $2.45. When I worked in this industry years ago, 1 gallon of milk was $1.90 and that was eons ago. Cashier sits on a office type chair with full lumbar support as items are scanned and placed back into shopping cart. At this time, you can purchase paper or durable plastic/vinyl carrying bags or use your personal bags of choice. Once merchandise is paid, you move to final station to bag your own groceries at your leisure. It's a bit confusing but it all makes sense after you bag your groceries and you observe others going through line or bagging groceries. Here's the awkward thing with shopping carts, you can leave it nearby at your convenience with wheels pinned against a planter or return cart to get .25 cents you inserted to access cart. I think it's a great concept and hopefully shoppers can respect the idea and follow through. It's a win, win for the property and neighborhood with less stray carts. I love aldi! It's my favorite grocery store, and I regularly shop there. It seems like I can never get out of a grocery store for less than 100 bucks, but it all day it seems like I always check out around 50 to 60, and get way more then I would get at a normal store (I mean, a LOT more.) The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Prices are always reasonable. It's so easy to shop there because there isn't a Million different brands. All the people that complain about having to bring bags are that they don't like that it's a quarter for cart just simply don't understand. The stores whole purpose is convenience and simplicity. It's nice that when you get there, there's not shopping carts all over the place and left in parking spots Keeping you from parking. People return the courts to where they belong so that they can get your quarter back, which leaves the parking lot cart free and tidy. Bagging your own groceries keep the line moving quickly, as they put your groceries back in your cart so that you can be on your way so they can start ringing up the next person. It's not a Health Foods store, but they do offer a lot of organic and healthier options. I feel like people reading it with lower stars because they expected a health food store isn't fair. The packaging on most all their products are simple, but they are all high-quality products. They even offer a double warranty if you're not satisfied with the product go replace it and refund your money. I highly recommend this store. read more

I was able to get a box of Special K for a reasonable price. Nice selection of wines Yes, you need a quarter to "rent" a cart but you get it back once you return it. The downfall, it sucks if you have an infant like me and have to keep going back and forth and end up having to put the carrier on he floor cause you have to corral the cart. Bagging your items is an understatement and this here is the reason I will not go back. Before you think I'm all snotty and prefer someone to bag my items, i do shop and food4less and Winco frequently. I ended up purchasing a plastic bag for $.15 (no biggie) but I didn't expect them to grab my cart with my baby inside his carrier in the cargo area and toss my items like they were just some pieces of barnyard hay. I had to look around to see if it was just me or if that's their thing. Guess what, that's their thing. Plus all the while they are sitting cozy in a chair. Then, you go across the walk away (not far) and bag all your items. Felt like I was getting my stuff together after TSA goes through all your items. This is definitely one of my go to stores to save a grip of money. I normally only stick to the item that are on sale in the weekly ads. There is usually a killer deal on one protein, a couple fruits and veggies, and eggs are usually under a buck for a dozen here! Super great place for a keto diet.... but even if you shop for regular items that aren't on sale they are usually a good buy. I give it 4 stars bc they usually don't carry name brands, which is okay for some items, but as everyone knows.... Some items generic brands just don't taste the same. The "rich man's" 99cent only store as my fiancé put it. We drove well out of our way to try Aldi and what a waste of time it was. We found a few good deals so that was okay but not enough for a second visit. We are a mid 20s couple (okay okay I'm 30! lol) without kids to give some reference. All and all the fit and finish of the store isn't there. It just oozes faux euro charm. It comes off as gimmicky. A quarter for a shopping cart deposit, the checkout stand works are sitting i don't know why that seems weird but that's just me, and they charge you for bags! Beware food products supplied from CHINA!! Read labels carefully. I was extremely disappointed to see jars of Sweet Harvest sliced peaches and mixed fruit are products of CHINA. No surprise, they didn't taste very good...that's what led me to read the label =( Other items are just listed as "distributed by Aldi in Illinois". Aldi, you can do better than that! After all the promotions we had heard and seen about this new chain of grocery stores coming to the west coast, we decided to check it out for ourselves. The staff at this location were very friendly and helpful, and the store was clean and very well organized. We found everything we were looking for. The check out was simple, except for the fact that we forgot to bring our own bags. But no worries, $0.10/ paper bag wasn't a big deal. Overall, I'm very pleased with his new grocery store. The total we spent was a lot less than I anticipated. We will definitely be coming back to do our shopping here in the future. read more

1. You have to put a quarter in for getting a shopping cart. 2. No Fresh Organic Fruit. 3. Poor selection of Organic Fresh Vegetables. 4. No butchers all meats are processed. 5. When checking out had to buy grocery bags because they don't bag and clerk sitting in chair. 6. Ask who Aldi is competing against clerk replied Stater Bro's ( don't worry Stater Bro's you are #1 grocery chain in Southern Calif). Aldi will be like Fresh and Easy out of business. The only positive note is the price on Tejava tea is lower than Sprout's along with Honest Tea. As a resident of Rancho Cucamonga hopefully Aldi won't be successful. I thought Aldi was suppose to be similar to Sprout's or Whole Foods boy was I wrong. I had to score one star because I wasn't able to give '0' stars! read more
