A regular occurrence of bare shelves in many sections of this Aldi.

I have been a regular customer of this location for some time and within the last four months or so the availability of basic products has gotten worse and worse. It is to the point now that I can no longer depend on anything ever being in stock that I used to regularly buy. I even went to the trouble of filling out their "survey" to let them know how bad it has become. I don't know if it's an issue of not getting supplied or not getting stocked but either way I'd advise trying another location if you still need to shop at Aldi or shopping at another chain altogether.

A frequent customer to this chain location. Sells produce, dairy, meat, and non-grocery, seasonal items. Food appears in great quality and smells fresh. A quarter to rent out a shopping cart and quarter is returned after cart is placed back. Plenty of parking in this lot. Next door to Best Buy, bank of America, 5 Below. Right next to the blue line train, and located between the busy streets of Belmont and Kimball. Also a bus stop. The downside is the aisles don't have category signs of items to purchase. Depending on the time of day, there are long waits and employee burn out. Sometimes customer service can be mouthy and often improperly placed or passive aggressively placed in grocery bags. Customers have to bag items, so be prepared to use stock cartons or bring own bags Plastic bags are 7 cents or for a bit extra for an insulated bag. One of my usual places for discount prices.

Total bill was only $80 for all of this!

I am late to the Aldi party but so glad I discovered it! I was very skeptical about shopping here, thinking that since the groceries were cheaper, it'd bring in more of a sketchy crowd. I live in Chicago and have a tight budget and regret not coming here earlier! It's surprisingly a large store with so many more options than I was expecting. I cook almost every meal of the week and tend to spend around $150 on groceries at Marianos, which lasts me 2-3 weeks. My latest haul from Aldi was only $80 and will probably last me 2 weeks! I loved bringing in my own bags [had to learn that the difficult way the first time but just bought some reusable bags at the checkout for future trips!] and being able to bag my products the way I want to. I love to make smoothie bowls and the produce is twice the size of other grocery stores and fresh! The only "problem" I had with the fruits and veggie section was you can't buy individual onions or potatoes, so I'll have to run to a different store for that stuff! They have so many gluten-free and organic options! I recently switched to pasteurized eggs, so I will have to go to a different store for that as well, but overall I'm super pumped to return to Aldi for my main grocery shopping trips!

This is a much larger Aldi than I'm used to. It's pretty neat and organized, as far as Aldi's go. The thing that tipped the scales here from 3 to 4 stars is the fact that they have beer and wine at this particular location. The exact products they have vary somewhat with each visit, but you can expect really great prices and incredibly fast check-out. If you are worried that Aldi sells sub-par products, or some other negative trait: don't. Every Aldi store that I have been too has been great, and busy. They might be a little short on customer service, as the employees are usually just flying around rapidly filling shelves and coolers, or manning the registers, but really the store is easy to navigate and I've never had a bad experience with any of the products that I've purchased. Fruit and veggies are fresh and of good quality. The only thing is that the store is very no-frills: no fancy displays, for the most part no big-name brands, etc. Again, don't take that to be a negative thing. If you haven't shopped here before or were holding out for some reason, you should give it a shot. I'm sure that you will not be disappointed.

Aldi is a great priced store, I usually get my veggies and fruit there. They could use more variety in product but they are kind and fast.

It is within walking distance, which is a plus, though I do watch the prices and go to Mariano's or Jewel when they offer more for less. EVERYONE at the meat/cheese counter is great, and friendly. They really do know their stuff, though at times, I wish they had a ticketed numbered system. It would prevent me from going off on some of the older Eastern Euro clientele when they try to butt in line. NOT happening! The cashiers are efficient, though there is a tall male one that is new to me. Feels like his name should be Draco. Would almost pass for AI, due to his height an personality, though AI can be programmed to be charming and efficient. He literally saw me put down items on the belt and looked like he was confused as to what his role was, then asked me if I wanted a bag for all my purchases, despite it being obvious that I had none with me. I had to get snippy, because, well, I had to get snippy. Oprah did mention them in one of her shows, so they got "trendy" afterwards, but as other reviewers have said, they do carry items that you would find more at a Treasure Island than a Jewel, Aldi, or Mariano's. They are good for that. Now, if they would only work on their AI cashiers and make them more personable, then I would give them a five star rating. Especially since peeps in the hood voted down Amazon from taking over and planting seeds on the corner of Western and Lawrence, to take over the grocery store market.

It's a pretty standard small grocery store, with a few things that may be hard to find elsewhere. They have some international brands, although the Mexican grocery store farther west on Lawrence (Lindo Michigan) is a better bet for Central American things. They sell some local brands, including freshly-roasted coffee from Brü Coffeeworks, also on Lawrence. Prices are a smidge higher than you might find elsewhere, but at least they're consistent and don't require you to download an app or join a frequent shopper club or whatever. I do wish they would stay open a little later. The staff are helpful, and they have a good selection of spices and seasonings. I wasn't able to find caraway seed elsewhere, for some reason, but when I asked a staff member if they had any, he immediately took me to the exact spot on the shelf where they had it in two different container sizes.

The wife says we came here once before many years ago but I don't remember it.  They've been at it here for 53 years since 1972. Normally, we avoid it due to the madhouse scene that is usually here (like when traffic can't even enter the parking lot from busy Milwaukee Ave because the parking lot is overflowing lol).  Well, it was -3F on a frigid Friday night and we were across Milwaukee Ave at the Jewel, and it was eerily quiet in Jewel, and we thought it was as good a time as any to also visit Jerry's lol. Well, it was relatively calm, and we found a close by parking spot, but there were still plenty of shoppers in Jerry's.  Their inventory is huge and truly impressive as are their prices.  No wonder this place is so super popular.  We picked up some cherries for $2.49 per lb and strawberries at a promo price of $0.79 per 1 lb container.  I would say 4.5 stars for our visit tonight, but really on their normal super-crowded shopping basis, I would still say 3 stars overall.  I don't personally think the hassle factor of shopping here for fruits and vegetables is worth it for the savings and the variety of offerings, thus the 2 star deduct.  But you have to decide for yourself, and apparently for many others, Jerry's is well worth the trip, and kudos to Jerry's for that and continued good luck and success to them.

So it's been over a decade since I've originally reviewed Jerry's, and here we are 13 years and 7…read moredays later and it's about time to update the review. Jerry's is still a gem of a produce store. They still maintain overall the cheapest produce you can find anywhere, and carry some unique produce you might not be able to find at other grocery stores. They also carry a decent variety of breads and pitas, desserts, and canned goods. The good value does come with a price though, as most of the time you'll be battling crowds of people while inside the store. Over the last decade I've definitely learned the times to avoid: Weekends and Wednesdays. Wednesdays I think they might have some sort of senior discount but it's also when they rotate their produce deals and the new weekly specials start. Though they have ample parking in the lots north and south of the store and along Milwaukee, during peak times it will be PACKED. I say avoid by going when they open or even after dinner as they're open pretty late. I find Mondays and Tuesdays to be a little less packed usually. Also, usually they have an entrance facing both North and South but the past few years during the winter time they've only had the South entrance open, I imagine to protect from the cold.

This store is pretty decent overall, but the levels of disrespect this shows for your own staff and your community is just unreal. Whoever staffed the store that night should be deeply ashamed of themselves. The stockholders are gonna be ok. Put a working staff member on registers at all times period. What if someone got injured? The self checkout here has a TINY spot to put your bag. Move the bag a bit and the scale freaks out. I can think of endless reasons for a cashier to be working at all times. Think of members of your community who need help if you run a FOOD STORE. Think of ways to improve your business rather than screwing customers. What about people who are neurodivergent and have disabilities? All to save like $100 a week. I bet they pull cashiers every night that last hour. What an F you to the people you sell to. TLDR: 9:30pm and NO cashier working a register.
