Better selection than expected. The prices are mostly okay. Better to support a local business than a chain. It certainly is a reason to come here. The selection isn't that bad either for it not being that big of a place. Has a humongous produce section at the front that takes up like a whole side of the store so if you're looking for some fresh fruits this is a good place to come look. There's tons of produce including apples, oranges, and more. Friendly owners and workers here. It's nice being able to get help. There's also plenty of candy among the fruits and vegetables.

Items will not be put in racks as neatly as in fancier supermarkets, but you'll find what you need AND this contributes to the price bring so so low. You have to try some things out and see if you like them: not everything at Aldi is as good as 'brandless' items from other supermarkets. They will not have 'everything ', for instance, they don't sell the full range of spices you would find at Trader Joe's or whole foods. There is no fresh bread, only the prepackaged kind. Variety of fruit and veggies is limited (see below for quality). I fully recommend everything organic, and there is quite a lot. Vegetarian "meats" and soy milk too! The aisle to the back, opposite the freezers, has seasonal items, such as Halloween things or German/Italian etc. try it out but don't get hooked, it will be gone in a few weeks. Likewise, non-food items such as cookware, clothing, garden items often change within a month or so, but this is my favorite aisle to score deals! Similar quality to Target, but lower prices. Why am I taking a star off, despite wonderful prices on daily needs (milk, eggs, flour, pasta, toilet paper etc) , good non-food deals and good service? The veggie and fruit section is a hit or miss: sometimes they have great fruit for low prices. Oftentimes, fruits/vegetables are sold out OR there is mold on the veggies and fruit, especially zucchini, green beans and berries. This really needs to change. This part of South Side Chicago is enough of a food desert the way it is. Stores that DO sell fresh fruits and vegetables really need to restock in time and make sure their produce is still edible.

One major complaint is that whoever changed the recipe ingredients in the vegan carrot cup cakes should explain why they went from top class carrot cup cake to packaged quality cement or tuck point worthy is beyond me. These cupcakes were so good I wanted to keep them a secret yet also to write a review of their quality. I know at least four other patrons bought them because they only stocked four packages per week. Ambiance is all about lighting and smells of the meat and fish section. No smells here. In this store location it's about integrated ethnic vibes and soon to be in direct competition with a Traders Joe's opening across the street. I wonder what that will bring in upgrades to Pete's.

I tried their fresh squeezed orange juice, and honestly- Berkots' is better. Regarding prices, this store seems to have some more upscale items and thus more costly.
