Large Mariano's, built as one and not a retrofitted Dominicks like at least one in the city. The grocery pick-up area is to the west of the building, a dedicated pick-up area with several parking spaces just outside the door for the Clicklist order pick-up department. They have a gas station here too. I finally figured out how to use the fuel points that I've accumulated! (Supposedly you're able to use them at BP, but I've never been successful in doing so.) That saved me twenty cents per gallon. But it's actually much closer to the TJ Maxx than the Marianos--in fact, I didn't even realize there was a gas station here until I was waiting at the light to turn onto Cicero. Mariano's stations seem to be much more common in the suburbs than the city (I'm not sure if there are any within the city limits), so don't forget to use your points if you've got them. read more

This location has a Stan's Donuts and coffee inside and a Mariano's gas nearby where you can get gas at about costco gas prices. I love this grocery store. It has freshly prepared meals you can take and eat right away, or reheat at home. It also has a huge assortment of items for you to make your own meals with. I believe this may be the largest grocery store I've been to in the area. It seems larger than Jewel, but I may be wrong. Mariano's has great meat! I love the steak, burgers, and even their sausages. I tried their fresh squeezed orange juice, and honestly- Berkots' is better. Regarding prices, this store seems to have some more upscale items and thus more costly. But some regular items are priced well. My boyfriend commented on how he couldn't find any cheap cereal- he eats the knock offs brands and noted how there were some cereals at Mariano's that were $7 (more than he'd ever pay for cereal). Mariano's isn't as good as it used to be. They were making their own Italian sausage & now just sell those inferior brands as in the store brand Kroger & Johnsonville. My biggest beef is the Oak Lawn store not fixing their grill where seafood & other meats were cooked to order. That was the highlight of Mariano's. I worked near the one on Archer & Ashland & went there for lunch many a time because of this feature. I don't know if other locations still have an operating grill but this store in Oak Lawn is getting on my last nerve by not having that grill fixed as that's what I was told awhile back that the grill needed repair. I placed a pick up order on Aug 29. My bank account was charged for the order on Sept 2. I checked my account today Sept 4 and there is still a hold on it for the amount that was paid on Sept 2. I called the corporate offices and was told the hold is for 5 business days even after they have been paid. No other explanation or recourse. I was told that this place has the best fresh bake cookies and great pre made subs. My bus driver rave about this place and told us on the bus the cookies was addicting! I had to go by to see what he raved about on the bus. Welp he did not disappoint! The chocolate chip cookies are baked fresh daily. The cookies are not hard and not too soft but just right in the middle. The only recommendation I have is that I wish they had the option to have your sub sandwiches made on the spot. Never, ever, go here on a Monday. The aisle and back part of the store are filled with stock and boxes and makes it physically impossible to even get to some areas. The sale prices are always confusing, and I ALWAYS feel like I have to scan my whole receipt before leaving to make sure everything rings up right. Another person mentioned they are frequently out of stuff such as milk. I would agree 100%. There have been more than a few times I have gone in to get organic milk, which I believe has a longer shelf life than regular milk, and none is there. Outside of that, the prices on some items are ridiculously high, the deli always has a wait, (although, I find that the case in most stores, so that one might be me), and the parking lot is an exercise in misery and poor design. read more

I love this Mariano's. I found the s. Pellegrino spark in natural mineral water for a S1.00 what a bargain. I enjoy coming here to see what new items they have. Today I found the purple sugar cane, Mamey fruit and the ugly fruit. They also had fresh coconuts which I stopped my self From buying because I figured I am going to need a machete to cut it open. I walked every isle today. Got some Chinese, Mexican and Italian item. Plus I got the formula for my grand- daughter it was a $1 more but is worth it because they honored the $3 dollar coupon I had. The only thing I don't like is the fact they lock up the formula in Chicago. I had to wait For the manager to get it out. Same thing at jewel and at Walgreens hmm. I was tempted to buy a few bags of mussels they had on a table with ice but I figured they are going to die on me on the way home. So I did not buy them. Bummer! Ok next time. Do not buy pies from the bakery. We have had two in the last week that have been raw and not completely cooked. It was so raw that you could wipe the crust away with your finger. Before you buy any pie have them open it and flip it over and look at it. A pie crust should be fully baked and not be white or raw. read more

When this location first opened, it was great. They had a great selection of high quality items, some that were unique and only found there. Sadly it's gone steadily downhill since it was purchased by Kroger. They are frequently sold out of items like milk , produce is half spoiled and pricey and things have rung up full price multiple times when on sale. Most of the employees are great and work hard, but isles are narrow and filled with product's waiting to be stocked and random displays in an already narrow space. It's frustrating trying to navigate the store due to all the clutter. Sad, but I think I will have to shop elsewhere, even though they are a block or so from my house. So much more than a grocery store! This place is awesome! Truly customer service oriented! Clean, well laid out and easy to find things. The employees and in general other patrons are nice and helpful. They have a great selection of delicious ready to eat or ready to warm foods. They make gourmet popcorn on site. They have an ice cream/ gelato counter. They have a coffee bar. But let me tell you, it's the bakery that draws me in every time. The have freshly made breads, muffins, pies and cookies. The cookies are soft and taste more homemade than any commercial cookie I have ever eaten. They make different varieties of focaccia bread, the olive one is my personal favorite. And they will sell you bread by the slice. For St. Patrick's Day we just need a few pieces of Rye bread so we asked for 8 slices. It was so nice not to have to buy the whole loaf. The desserts are so pretty and delicious. If you're ever in the Oak Lawn area and need some items I recommend you stop in and enjoy. read more

People love Mariano's. People also love Meryl Streep. Enough said. Seriously though, Mariano's has a great reputation for fresh produce, hot food, good service, and the ability to have a drink while grocery shopping. This location is very crowded. The parking lot is huge and it fills up. I can't hold that against the store. They must be doing something right. Anyway, here is where it gets bad. When you enter the store and head eastbound toward the bar/hot food/bakery area it gets ridiculously crowded. There are people everywhere and there are stands everywhere. Popcorn stands, coffee stands, bakery, etc. Pete's Market in Bridgeview offers similar features but the area is spread out more. Here, you are going to bump into a person or a display. It's also loud. I must confess that I have had beers and wine at the bar but let's face it: It's a novelty deal. Do it once. There's really no reason to make Mariano's you're drinking spot. Speaking of drinking, the liquor department is excellent. There are a ton of wines to choose from. There are lots of beers to choose from. Plus, they have a walk in cooler full of beers to purchase. Also for sale are a nice number of spirits. Well done. The grocery section is solid. All of the brands and labels that you know and love are sold here. They also fancy the use of whole number pricing. For example, a box of chicken breast might be $8 rather than $7.99. This makes us who are math challenged a little more comfortable shopping. The fresh meat is good. The cheese and sausage section is good. I love me some hot sopressata and Mariano's usually has it in stock. Frozen section? Very disappointing. It has a large vegan section and a large pizza section but that's it. I've been in smaller stores that have huge frozen sections and lots of cool frozen items for purchase. Let's bring in more frozen appetizers, novelties, etc. Let's talk about prices. I think that Mariano's is rather high. You can find the occasional item that is on sale but overall the sales are scarce and the prices are on the high end. I guess they have to pay the piano player that sits up front. Okay that wasn't nice. The piano players are very good and that's pretty cool, albeit, unnecessary, but perhaps it classes the joint up. I'm so torn! If i could rate Mariano's three and one-half stars I would. It's not a four star store. Four star stores shouldn't give you a headache unlike Mariano's with it's circus like atmosphere. But it is better than three stars. Why did I round down to three rather than up to four? I have to bring some balance to the force. The Mariano's devotees are tipping the scales with their five star reviews. And I'm not attacking said devotees. You like what you like. That's cool. read more

The store has tons of things to choose from most of which are most more expensive than going to your regular supermarket. People are really nice for the most part. This review is specific to the bakery department. On Wednesday, June 25th, my son and I went to the bakery department to order cupcakes for a graduation party. First, I had to physically flag someone down to help us with the order. The bakery employee who ended up helping us was not knowledgeable, but fumbled her way through filling out the order. I ordered 3 dozen cupcakes, half vanilla, half chocolate, with buttercream frosting, to be picked up at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 29. I paid for the order on the 25th. On the 29th, my husband went to pick up the cupcakes, and there were NONE! Apparently, the employee changed the pick up date on the order to 6/22, instead of 6/29. Even though the order was shown as being placed on the 25th, no one questioned why the pick-up date was prior to the order date. They ended up literally throwing together 36 cupcakes with what we thought was buttercream frosting, only to find out after the party started that the frosting was cream cheese. I will never order anything from the bakery here again! read more

A tale of two Mariano's... One in Elmhurst the other in Oak Lawn... I've written about the one near me. Surprisingly, both are celebrating their five year anniversary. The one in Oak Lawn is bigger... However, the service in Elmhurst is far superior. First: I went to grab a little something for my drive home. I brought two pieces of the baked cod. It was over cooked, chewy, rather dry, and bland. Second: I wanted to purchase a drink, but had to wait until the service associates were done with their conversations. They were laughing and enjoying each others company until after a couple of minutes I was noticed and then waited upon. Now, mind you the third worker, who apparently did not work in that area saw me waiting, but continued to engage his friends. So much for customer service in Oak Lawn.... Third: After I was noticed, the young lady took my order, but the cash register that she initially used didn't "work", so after I had put everything away she had me move to another register to do the entire process again. The young man who was working with her continued his conversation with the other young man who did not work in that area, but made my frozen cappuccino drink, wrong. Could it be that carrying on a private conversation with friends, while serving customers could be a problem? After the young man who made my drink wrong, (he made an ice coffee), verified with the young lady who took my order, that he indeed made the wrong drink, (he apologized), but continued his conversation with... the young man who worked some place else in the store! And guess what, does anyone wonder why, he got my drink wrong, AGAIN - I specifically asked for NO WHIPPED CREAM, (and 2%milk)! Fortunately, it was an easy fix. He removed the domed lid, which held the majority of the whipped cream and replaced with a flat lid. At this point, I should have received at least, an offer of a complementary pastry. I would have passed, but the offer would have meant that they were taking responsibility for their mistakes and poor customer service. Sigh! Was the conversation that important? When I went outside I was met with three cart associates getting carts. A job that two could have done, or at least three in three different area, (remember I said the lot was bigger than the Elmhurst lot), however, they were all standing around chatting, occasionally pushing the carts; one of them, after he checked his phone. What's the difference between the two Mariano's. Someone higher up cares about service and customers at one store and someone at the other, is lacking. This is disappointing. You are supposed to be a family. What is done at one store reflects upon the others. This is why I expected the same high quality from the Oak Lawn store that I receive at the Elmhurst store. Step it up Oak Lawn... I'll be back, my sister lives out there and I'd like to give you a chance to redeem yourself... But maybe it doesn't matter in Oak Lawn. read more

Mariano's is sweeping the Chicagoland area. In just four years we've got a Mariano's is every part of the city. Some are smaller due to limitations of the size of the existing space they took over like some of the old Dominick's locations. This is a built-from-scratch location and is one of their larger locations with large open spaces that make shopping here more like an adventure. The highlight of the visit was seeing Bon Mariano but that didn't affect my rating. Just a cool thing for a visit to a store open for just a week. While spending over an hour looking at every department and talking to the occasional employee I only ended up with three bags of groceries. I limited my purchases to just items that were on sale. I enjoyed talking to a butcher and the guy working the grill in the fish and butcher area that will cook your purchase for free so you just need to warm it at home while keeping that grilled flavor. The floral area was better than a full service florist. Lots of options and it seemed that the prices were slightly lower than a florist for the quality of the flowers. I'll surely be back for flowers in the future. I gave them just four stars because prices are a bit higher than the local Jewel or Fair Play. I realize the wine and beer bar, the sushi counter, the free grilling of foods, the giant bakery and floral areas, and international selections doesn't come cheap but I simply can't afford to do all my shopping here. Lots of show and great quality I'll be back when I can or need a specialty item. read more

We don't have Mariano's in Vegas but I was quite excited to visit here as I was hearing great things about it. They have a fresh juice bar, love it!! My favorite was the beet juice. Great after a night of drinking as beets are supposed to be good for cleansing your liver and I was in dire need of that. They're not exactly like Whole Foods, the overpriced madness of "organic" and "no processed sugar". I shop at two different locations regularly. It's more for convenience than anything else. I did like their response to the Covid 19 situation. Non sale priced items do seem a little more than other places. However sale priced items are solid buys. The best deal they have is the just cooked and packaged smoked pulled pork and smoked turkey. It's better than a majority of so called bbq places around. For $10 and a your favorite rolls this easily gives you several meals. The tuna poke bowls are a great lunch or dinner option. Everyone is always helpful and go out of their way to show you an item or literally tell you the shelf and how far down the aisle. We prefer the Oak Lawn as opposed to Evergreen Park location quite simply because we enjoy having an adult beverage while we shop. The Frankfort location has an excellent lunch/dinner option with oysters and other seafood options. I truly hope the places with eat in options remain after the social distancing is over but please maintain the store cleanliness like it has the last couple months. read more

The food selection, frozen or fresh is always a delight. Pre-packed meals are reasonable. There's a lot of sections, it's big, a lot to look into. Very diverse and has stuff for those with allergies and less caffeine. The store is wide and lines get long fast, but overall a nice shopping experience. Though wish for more sales, they always have something on their aisle to buy. The staff are standard and with a smile to past the register. Though there's a lot around, I still get confused that there's a florist in the middle as I was like oh wow next to the coffee. The bakery goods are great, haven't seen the self pack serve in a while, it used to be there and was a delight to have. Overall some tendencies can be seen among those secret securities being obvious. They don't try to build distrust by hounding you though. Thankfully everyone minds their tasks and you can shop at ease knowing you're going to be at that cashier with less harassment. Though it's been hard to apply here, shot down a lot. I do find that the place is quite clean. Ambiance is alright, parking lot, tons of space. Everything tries to be as organized as possible. Prices another thing though. Horrible customer service and misrepresentation of prices: Mariano's had packages of chicken thighs marked with a big yellow sticker with red print-$1.99. I thought this is a great deal. I will grab 2. When checking out I noticed I was charged $6.33 each. When I inquired about it I was told the price was $1.99 PER POUND. When I said the sticker price did not indicate that, the cashier told me that on the back it says this. It was printed very small. Went to customer service desk to inquire about why the huge sticker on the front does not indicate "per pound" and the woman, Vivian, told me that anyone with common sense would look on the back and figure it out. I told her I wanted my $ back, this was a shoddy way to mark packages, and her comments were insulting because as a consumer how am I supposed to know to "look on the back" when it is clearly marked in the front! She stormed off and said she would not wait on me. I had to wait for another person to come and refund my money. Needless to say, Mariano's and Kroger have lost my business. There are too many other grocery stores to bother with this company who treats their customers with such disrespect. Not used to this kind of grocery store. They have everything. They have weird off brands and high end stuff. They have stations, like coffee, sushi, alcohol drinks, salad bar, etc. NOTE: salad bar has some foo-foo stuff, like couscous, crab, kiwi slices, and avocado. Plenty of choices. I got a spinach/kale salad with some broccoli, cauliflower and garbanzos, a cantaloupe, watermelon and other fruit salad, coffee and fresh steel cut oatmeal with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, almonds, drizzled with organic honey and a dash of freshly grated cinnamon. 15 bucks. Breakfast, snack and lunch. Not bad. Fun to people watch. Friendly, shiny people employees. Lot of parking. Lot of specials, and..... get this... A piano, which, I guess at times they have a piano player to gently soothe you into spending your hard earned cash on fresh caught wild salmon, or lamb shank from a lamb named "Yum-Yum", lol. read more

What really really brings the store down are the customers. Every single one of them were unbelievably rude. We're always in your way. Pushing you closer to them despite the fact that we're still dealing with Covid. Kept bumping into you and just genuinely pissing you off each second. The employees were actually super super sweet. They were genuinely really nice and they help you out a lot. The prices are a little too high and I'm not a big fan of their store made foods but everything else about the store was OK. It was just the customers that made me wanna beat someone up. So if you ever decide to shop here be ready for some old fart to bump you with his cart and act like it's your fault and that he can get away with his shitty behavior because he's old and he can do what he wants. read more

I've been a customer of this store since the day they opened back in 2014, I think it was. Marianos was the best thing to happen in Oak Lawn in a long time, and still is the best supermarket option by far. Unfortunately, all the things that make it a positive experience were greatly compromised when Kroger bought the Marianos chain. Some examples: produce quality has dropped. More items are unavailable or past their prIme than under the original management. They've removed produce bins and are offering less variety. Then there's the hot food bar. The wide range of offerings that previously existed have been replaced by five variations of chicken on most days, and an assortment of other low-costing dishes; long gone are the pot roasts, and other more appetizing offerings, but the price has still risen. Kroger has replaced Roundy's brand products, the old Marianos house brand, with it's own Kroger brand products which are in general, poorer quality by several degrees. The pharmacy used to be a joy to deal with. the pharmacists were very competent, friendly and actually knew me by sight; I didn't even have to give my name when I picked up a prescription. Once, pharmacist Barbara even ran over to us in the checkout line, to offer additional information on a medication I had picked up earlier. They really cared. Now, you rarely see the same person twice, and the trainees outnumber the pharmacists 3 to 1. The store is not maintained as well as it used to be. Fixtures are dirtier and in poorer repair these days, notably in the bakery, and the eating area in the stores rotunda. The condition of the containers they bring items in from the back to restock the hot and cold bars and the olive bar makes you reconsider your purchases. The various customer perks are in rapid decline: the sitting area between deli and the grill has been removed, the cheese shop counter is just a stocking hold area now, the myriad of sampling offerings are all but eliminated, even the trademark live pianist on weekends is gone and the piano moved to the eatery, soon to disappear forever, methinks. I'm still a customer, albeit a disappointed one. Marianos Oak Lawn will still get our family's business for now, but unless parent company Kroger returns the standards to the previous high levels, it's going to be a slippery slope. read more

I starting using the pharmacy and signed up for the Kroger plan. I recieve a few of my prescriptions free and a few are lower than my insurance. The best part is the pharmacy staff. They are always friendly and helpful. Sometimes with insurance it can be difficult and confusing but they help you through it. Glad I switched over to them. Only wish they had a drive up. read more

I went to this store just recently to grab a few things and also some food. I would say that the store is clean. I went in there and it was not so busy. Everything is organized, and I literally came here for just a really short time. Even if it is just for a short time, I have seen that the store is well-organized and well-stocked. There is a good variety of choices for anything. I just bought a few things, and with those, I was able to get everything accurately. The service is fine. The staff are nice and helpful. Almost everything about this store is good, except for the prices. I was really surprised by the prices. I bought the thing I needed anyway because I did not want to look for another store or go to another store for it and the prices were really higher than I thought. Their products are really good and of good quality as well, but I would not really suggest this one based on their pricing. read more
