I live in Bowie so this is a bit of a hike, but Bel Air is a great day trip destination with several fun shops and restaurants nearby. Bel Air is such a cute little downtown area that my husband and I went to for the first time in February 2026 with Wockenfuss as one of our need-to-visit stops! The Wockenfuss staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and let us sample several things as we were deciding. They also gave recommendations based on what we liked (a mix of several different fruit gummies after we tried them all and couldn't make a decision!) I also appreciate how accessible this location is. I was in a walking boot at the time for an achilles injury and navigated the store easily then waited on a bench outside for my husband to pick me up after we had parked elsewhere and walked around a bit. Fair warning: The parking lot is very small; you can't drive through it as there is only one entrance and you will have to turn around in a tight space to exit. I wouldn't recommend parking in their lot if you have a larger vehicle, and the lot will fill up fast on a weekday. If you are able to handle a bit of walking the downtown area is pretty flat (when there aren't snow piles!) and this location is easy to walk to from other parking spots. I will definitely continue to purchase candy from Wockenfuss and look forward to visiting them in person again!

So a quick google search reveled that Rebel Ice Cream is a company that produces keto friend ice cream AND they offer Butter Pecan flavor as an option!!! OMG!!! So then I look to identify the grocery stores that have it near me and the closest one just happened to be Martin's (was over an hour away - coming from DC). I told my husband and he was game so we commenced to begin our hour+ trip to Martin's. Now, I must say that Martin's would've never been on our radar. We had never heard of it until that night and it's no where close to our home, but a little after midnight one night, we found ourself in the middle of Martin's perusing through their aisles. We were on a mission that night, so our experience at Martin's was limited to searching for the ice cream aisle, but while there we noticed that the facility was extremely clean and very well organized. We were in-and-out in less than 10 minutes. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait! The Butter Pecan ice cream was well worth the 2+ hour drive and I have Martin's to thank for helping me with my late night craving and me not cheating on my diet! If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend stopping by there. From what I saw in the short time that we were there, it seems to be a pretty solid store!

The primary…read morereasons we come here is to check out the transient items from Greek and/or Italy -- cookies, anchovies, sardines, and gingerbread. This Lidl has a large free parking lot and offers both small and large carts. And you don't need to scramble for a quarter to release the cart-- these are free floaters. Another reason we like to come to the Lidl on Bel Air Road in Nottingham is to look at and sometimes buy flowers and plants-- they really have a nicer selection of flowers and plants for a grocery store. And perhaps the best part of Lidl is their fresh bakery. We have to buy pretzel rolls and jelly-filled doughnuts aka Berliners. The baked goods are always so fresh at this Lidl. Thanks, Lidl, we will be back.

Staff were very friendly, and the staff over at the bakery section were more than happy to provide the favorites! When I arrived at the deli counter, I patiently waited while an employee was assisting another customer. After she finished, I asked whether we needed to take a number. She told us no, then proceeded to slice meat. Once she was finished with that task, she still did not acknowledge us. Instead, another customer walked up, and she immediately took their order, despite us having been there first and waiting for quite some time. We didn't want to appear impatient or rush her, so we continued waiting. However, after being repeatedly overlooked, I finally asked if it was normal to wait that long just to place an order. She responded that she "didn't know we were ready to order." Considering we had been standing directly at the counter waiting and watching her, that explanation was difficult to understand. The entire interaction left me feeling ignored and unwelcome. Whether it was intentional or not, the experience was frustrating and disappointing. Customer service should be consistent and respectful for all customers. What surprised me most was that the manager, who happened to look like me, shared that she had also experienced racism when she first transferred to this location. Hearing that only added to my concerns about the culture and environment at this store. Overall, the customer service was unacceptable, and based on this experience, I will likely not return to this location.
