We've been coming to Carver Hill for years, and it never loses its charm. The fresh apple cider…read moredonuts, the pumpkins, and the warm and laid back staff make it a truly special place. Come once the season dies down a little. You won't regret it!

I was looking for a quieter orchard tucked away from the crowds (and yes, I realize that such a…read morething at the height of the season is nonexistent) but Carver Hill actually fit the bill. From Boston, it's a scenic drive out to Stow. I couldn't stop gushing over the foliage on the way there - I've turned into a total leaf peeper. Carver Hill is absolutely stunning in the fall, definitely worth a trip. Pleasantly surprised to find the lot half-empty when we arrived on the later side of a Saturday but then it filled up by the time we left around 3. To your right, as soon as you drive in, you'll see an area with pumpkins and the farm store - this is also where you get PYO fruit/veggies if you're paying with credit. If you have cash on hand, you can pay for a bag at the little stand right in front of the orchard. A peck (the smaller bag) was $25. I was a little skeptical at the size but it's a good deal if you really pack your apples in there. From there, the apple orchard. Not the biggest I've been to and the selection was understandably limited. We missed the sign to download the QR code for a map of the orchard and so had to rely on a photo of a thin pole with all the names/colors wrapped around it. Don't forget to stop at the store before you leave. I grabbed some pumpkin pie, jam, and an apple cider donut - they also have apple cider slushies and multiple flavors of ice cream. The donut was THE BEST, made fresh, almost falling apart, thick and generous coating of cinnamon and sugar (also tasted nutmeg and allspice in the coating). Absolutely worth waiting in the line for, but make sure to pay first and get a little yellow receipt/tag from the register before you get in line for the donuts.

Enormous orchard, apples for days. Decent slate for kids stuff: mazes, farm animals, apple cannons…read more Thats the good part. But want a cider donut? Want some apple cider? Want to park your car? Be ready for larger lines than you've ever witnessed. That's the bad part. We went at 2 PM on a Saturday, so that's on us. Maybe it's more tolerable getting there at opening? We wouldn't go back based on the lines, I am not a patient person and I'd rather eat nails than wait 1 hour in line for anything, but it shows they are doing something right over here.

The two of us split a 25$ bag and since no tickets were required, we were able to go for 12.50 each. Despite being busy, the orchard did a good job at separating out the food stalls so the lines moved fast. We got cheeseburgers which were warm and quick. We also got the maple salt cold brews which tasted so fresh and were the perfect fall flavor, while not being too sweet. The cider donuts were classically amazing. Overall, everything was well kept, clean, and perfectly festive for fall. There was a lot to do and see and just walking the orchard was wonderful. The orchard was not picked over and had a lot of apple options despite the amount of people.

I had no idea that cut/pick your own flowers was a thing, and I absolutely LOVE it - it is brilliant. The flower garden is a 2-acre field filled with a variety of beautiful flowers - very picturesque. These are, as I call them, the bougie, boutique flowers - i.e., not your average and not what you will find at the store. The field is easy to find, located to the right front of the property, so you do not have to go very far. They have a great system in place, both for the flowers and the cutting experience. There is a check-in stand specific to the flower garden at the entrance of the field that you cannot miss. There are two options for your picking size and price: a mason jar for $18.82 or a basket for $75 (2026 prices). They also offer a membership for the season that covers a mason jar pick each week. If I lived a little closer, it is safe to say I would absolutely invest in the membership. If you have the membership, you bring your mason jar back each week and check in at the stand. If you are there without the membership, they will give you a mason jar at check-in. They put some water in the mason jar for you so the flowers can stay hydrated as you pick. (I have since gone to another PYO flower garden, and they did not do mason jars or a container with water, so I think it's worth mentioning as it definitely makes a difference). When you check in, they will also provide you with the snips, and then give you any instructions or information. They also have a key holder/system in place - I am not sure if it is mandatory to leave your keys with them or not, but if you do, they will give you a number tag for when you are done. The field is pretty easy to navigate. The flowers are grown in long rows, and there is some signage indicating the type. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty. If it is a sunny/hot day, you will want to bring a water bottle, as it can get very hot. Now, the flowers - they are absolutely gorgeous. You have free rein and can pick as you wish. They do have some limits on certain flowers - for example, 5 stems for the dahlias, 3 stems for the eucalyptus, and similar for the hydrangeas - but there are plenty to choose from, so it is not limiting. You really will be amazed by how much you can fit in the mason jar. It was really fun to explore and check out all of the beautiful flowers. It is also really neat to see how other people build their bouquets. You can tell that some people have a vision and a plan, while others (like me) just go for it. All of them are beautiful, and you really cannot go wrong. I absolutely loved mine, and again, I was amazed at how many I was able to get in the mason jar - I put quite the mixture and they blended so beautifully. It was like a few bouquets in one. It really is a great experience, and the smile comes home with you every time you look at the beautiful flowers. I definitely recommend it and cannot wait to come back to do it again. When we finished with the flowers, we did check out the farm stand. It was towards the end of the day, so the options were dwindling (either because they were out or had been put away), but what we did see looked great and of high quality. Some prices seemed a little on the high side, in my opinion, but you are getting local, freshly grown, good-quality items. We got some peaches, a watermelon, and a bag of the apple cider donuts. I couldn't believe the size of the peaches - they were HUGE - like softball-sized. They were some of the best peaches I have had, and the watermelon was closer to how they used to be.

I see that a couple other reviewers had the same experience as well so it doesn't seem to be a one-off moment. We came here for a Christmas tree and were pleasantly surprised by the selection (December 7th) of really good quality trees and lower prices compared to other places we've bought from in the past (ranging from $60-$80ish). Of note they take cash or check only, they do have an ATM, and the prices listed are a few dollars short of the actual price you'll pay. The teenagers working at the tree stand were very pleasant and got a fresh cut on the tree and strapped it to our car securely and efficiently. The turn for the worse came when we went to pay. The women was talking to us like we were children which was very odd and belittling (hard to portray tone but for example when I handed her the cash she went '$70, oh good job!') then when handing me back change she goes 'and your change to the food pantry?' and drops my change in a donation bucket before even finishing the question...I literally was reaching my hand out to receive the change and she just decided not to give it to me or let me answer the question. I was honestly pissed off about that. It's my money to choose what to do with and socially, how rude is it to put people in a position to have to fish their change out of a donation bin if they hadn't wanted to donate it? Overall, the woman at the checkout really tainted this place for me by straight up not giving me my change back and I don't plan to return.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., I was outside waiting for my friend while she finished making her purchases. As she walked out of the store, she tripped over a bike rack positioned along the walkway. She fell hard, injuring and bloodying her knee and scraping her hands. She was visibly shaken, and the pie she had just purchased was destroyed in the fall. I went inside to tell an employee what had happened and to ask whether the pie could be replaced. While I was speaking with the employee, my friend came inside, limping. My friend asked whether the employee had heard what had happened. Rather than expressing concern or asking whether she was okay, the employee's reaction struck both of us as surprisingly dismissive. My friend then asked whether she could have some ice for her injured knee. The employee said no and walked away. Because I was surprised by that response, I asked another employee who was stocking muffins whether he could get some ice for my friend because, I explained, she had just fallen and injured herself. He also indicated that he could not. The first employee later returned and explained that there were no more pies available, and my friend was refunded for the pie. What happened next was the strangest part of the experience. As we were leaving, the employee came after us and quietly told my friend that she would get her some ice if she promised not to tell anyone. My friend accepted the ice. I cannot explain why providing ice to an injured customer apparently needed to be done discreetly. What bothered me most was not simply that my friend fell. Accidents happen. It was the response afterward. A customer was bleeding, shaken, and asking for something as basic as ice. I would have expected someone to ask whether she was all right and to offer reasonable assistance. Instead, the response we experienced initially felt defensive and indifferent. The pie was refunded, which I appreciate. But the overall interaction left such a negative impression that I do not intend to return.
