Company rented out this spot because it was a spacious area to host with lots of activities. The place is a combination of Camp Anawana meets Action Park. Way large area with bouncy houses, archery, cornhole but it was during a heat wave. Theres shade from the trees so why was everything out in the baking sun? Company gave us a voucher for a hot dog but nobody was at the Snack Shack. I couldn't find any employees here to ask questions. The final coup de gras: WARM PINK LEMONADE FROM A DRINKING FOUNTAIN. I've been coming to Alderbook Park for various events for most of my life. As a child, it was to attend my mom's company picnics, back when she worked for Burgerville. As an adult, things came full circle when I started to visit to attend my *own* employer's company picnics, and later, special events like this weekend's Alderbrook Oktoberfest, or a friend's wedding, several years ago. I remember fondly several of its unique attractions: the fountains of pink lemonade; the (semi)-heated pool; the mini mini-golf course; rowboats on the pond (now replaced with paddleboats); all you can eat hot dogs; the dinner buffet and live music under the awning. Some of the above features aren't a part of a standard admission ticket, or present at each and every event. For example, the dining options at this weekend's Oktoberfest were certainly not free, but an a la carte selection of sparse and underwhelming German options; one measly stand selling Costco brats with sauerkraut, some pretzels and cheese...and that's about it. There was beer, of course, and wine, but nothing to write home about. It was basically Alderbrook with a very thin coat of Bavarian paint over the top, which as a seasonal event would be an abject failure, if not for the fact that Alderbrook itself elevates anything that takes place here a few notches above the bar. There are few family-friendly outdoor venues as uniquely appealing in the PNW area. So many play places, open fields for games and sporting events, hiking trails and places to explore, that any kid (or kid at heart) is going to have no shortage of things to do or see. Our toddler son loved jumping around in the provided bouncy castles, wandering the paths, riding the "train", climbing the play structures, exploring the wooden ship, swinging in the swings, paddling out on the pond, and feeding the fish from the 25c food dispensers on the dock. It was a joy to see him experience the very same things I did as a child, with a huge smile on his face, and to hear him giggling with excitement. Not every event at Alderbrook is perfect; what you get is directly related to how much time, effort and money are poured into planning and preparation. Whether that be your company putting on a holiday event or get together, or something more publicly accessible (and put on by Alderbrook itself, to draw in the public), there may be things that could be improved, but in general, there will always be more hits than misses here. The real magic, and draw, of Alderbrook comes in the form of memories that you build and share with your friends, co-workers, and family, and as evidenced in my own case, these memories are fond, romantic, and now, passing on into their third generation. This review is for the Friday night car show only. We were told by friends to get there early because they fill up fast, and if you bring your car as a participant and the car show area is full, they direct you to park in the spectator parking lot. We arrived around 4:30. The event is from 4-8pm. Luckily, there were still about 3-4 rows available to participants. It was a warm day and super sunny, so I'd suggest bringing a pop-up tent or lawn chairs with some sort of visor or umbrella. We popped our trunk lid to provide some shade. They had food vendors and a beer garden available. There was a bouncy house for kids, in addition to the other activities the park offers (paddle boats, pool, mini golf, etc). The restrooms were clean. The park grounds for the event were beautiful. There are lots of trees and grass to park on for the car show. They don't allow outside alcohol or pets in the car show. Most of the vendors and spectator entrance accept credit cards. The participant entrance is cash only. There is no ATM on site, so plan ahead. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here. The entrance fee for participants is $10 per carload. The spectator entrance fee is $8 per person this year, which seems steep to me. The $5 per person like last year is more reasonable. read more

The "German" food was pretty lame. The $12 German Sausage came From Costco and the Pork Schnitzel was undercooked and cold to the touch when it was served. The pretzels were good. Great venue and the Nordic Band "Smiling Scandinavians" were loads of fun and enhanced by the lovely Emcee. read more

We went to one of their Friday car shows recently. There was lots of classic cars to see and talk to their owners. They even had a live announcer with music to entertain that matched the era. Lots of reasonable food booths and beverages available. This is the most cars I'd ever seen on one of these events. Fun, fun! I'll be back. There's things too for the kids. We came here for a private corporate picnic and were quite impressed with the grounds and all the various activities. I believe they are only open to the public certain days of the week (there is an admission fee) and then on the other days they host private events (weddings, picnics, etc.). It is a very large park and they can host several events at the same time. Not only is the location gorgeous, but here are some of the things they have to offer: -hiking trails, of course -food concession stand along with a beer/wine concession area (AND a water fountain that dispenses lemonade!) -mini-golf course -small pond with paddle boats -pool -playground areas, including one with a big play ship! -basketball court -baseball diamond -volleyball courts -outdoor lawn games -LOTS of open, grassy areas for other activities The staff were all very nice and the grounds and restrooms were clean. I organized a staff appreciation day here. We were so looking forward to treating our staff and their families to a fun day at the park. There is a lot to do at the park, our kids loved it. However, our time is was ruined by a manager who was shockingly aggressive and mean. We were at the pool, and we brought drinks in cans that we had bought in *their* store. We were sitting on the side of the pool while our kids swam, and this man came in and told us drinks were not allowed in the pool area. We apologized and started moving away from the pool, he continued to tell us drinks were not allowed as we cleared out, raising his voice, rolling his eyes and shaking his head at us. It was embarrassing and belittling. We asked if we could have water to which he replied "No! No drinks at all--there is a drinking fountain," as he pointed to a tiny fountain at the end of the pool. My friend, after he left the pool area to stand outside of the gate to finish the drink he just bought, approached the manager and again apologized saying he didn't mean to break the rule. The manager again practically yelled at him and pointed to both of entrances saying there were signs clearly saying 'no drinks' and we should have known. Here is a picture of this sign which does NOT say "no drinks". We had no idea we were breaking any rules. And, to not even allow water? How ridiculous is that? Later, another staffer of ours approached me saying that a manager reduced her to tears. She had noticed that their donkeys did not look well cared for. She owns donkeys herself, and was concerned. She went to the front desk to let them know she was concerned. This same man proceeded to chase her down, and harassed her for "threatening their establishment". This woman is one of the sweetest humans I know. She did not threaten them, she went to them in love concerned about the donkeys. He actually threatened her that he would tell ME about her reporting the donkeys. What in the wo I really have never seen anything like it. This one man ruined our day. If it weren't for that, we would have loved it. But I truly regret bringing our staff--amazing people who deserved a fun day of appreciation--to a place where they would be belittled and reduced to tears. This man needs to accountability. I love the Friday car shows during the summer months. The only negative I have is the answers I get from them near the end of the car show season. I sent them an e-mail at 9am on a Friday near the end of the season to see if the car show was going to happen that day. They replied YES. I drove across town and the park was closed. The fountains dispense Pink Lemonade instead of water. AWESOME!!! This 60 acre park and facility for company picnics and big events has everything outdoorsy for a good time on a sunny summer northwest day. There's a huge lake, a pool, playing fields, trails, mini golf, horseshoes, a huge maze to run through and a pirate ship to commandeer. At the picnics I've gone to there has also been a bar, snacks, cotton candy, snow cones, and ice cream stands around (what seems like) every turn. Basically your doctor might love you for all the running and playing and exercise you'll get here... your dentist will hate you for all the sugar you consume while doing so. read more

Out where God left his shoes! This beautiful event and wedding center is truly wonderful. It was a company picnic for a local airline that brought me here and a good time was had by our whole party. There are four different "venues" or "pavilions" available seating various amounts of people with "Venue 1" being the largest holding 500+ people. Companies have the option to rent out the entire park or at least one of the "venues." This place has a ton of amenities available: Outdoor heated pool (gets extremely crowded,) Paddle Boats, a Petting Zoo, Maze and Pirate Ship, Miniature Golf Course, Outdoor Sports Equipment, a train that runs every half hour on the half hour that circumvents a large portion of the park, Bounce Houses, a Dunk Tank, a Face Painter, a Magician, and live music/DJ. There are also many single person wooden chairs that can be moved around the park for comfort. There are lots and lots of restrooms available. They have a Snack Shack or a full size Cafe with servers that has a great sounding menu. We had our event catered and all the food was pretty good except for their Baked Beans which were atrocious. I had to dock them a star for their lack of a large enough staff and proper training of staff when it comes to safety.... Other than that if you're planning a large event then this place is definitely a great option for entertaining many people. Their entree fee is $8 per person unless you are a party of 6+ in which entree is reduced to $5 They have plenty of parking in their private lot... even if there are other events occurring. It was okay. Visited on a Thursday afternoon with my husband and 2 kids - aged 12 and 14. We were not part of any group or organization - just looking for somewhere to spend an afternoon. We mostly came for the mini-golf - we figured the $10 per adult and $6 for the kids entry fee wasn't bad for a round of golf, and the rest of the park would be a nice bonus. Well, be warned, if you're looking to actually play mini-golf, don't bother coming here. We couldn't even get appropriately-sized clubs for the four of us, and the ones that we did get were pathetic. And the lack of score cards should have been a huge giveaway on what was to come. Course was dirty and full of debris - wrinkled, torn, and patchy "greens". It would have taken someone 20 minutes to sweep the holes for debris and sand. Surroundings were sand, dirt, and weeds. We spent half our time dodging golf balls from bratty kids that were supposed to be under adult supervision (ha!), and the other half trying to smooth out the thin, ripped putting greens so that we could actually try and get the ball into the holes. There was trash everywhere - bags, smoothie cups, bottles, etc. Trash in the pond. No animals in the petting zoo. I passed on the warm, sticky lemonade fountains. Some positive notes: I felt like the snack bar was reasonably priced. The two people working it (at different times) were both friendly and pleasant. DELICIOUS cotton candy, and can't beat the $1.50 price tag. Paddle boats were nice. The area is really pretty, nestled among trees and greenery. The rest of the play areas and park seemed to suit younger children better, maybe 8 years old and under. Overall, if we went back, I would wait until after 4pm when admission is half. read more

This is a beautiful park. I havent been here since I was a kid. My friend got married by the lake this evening, it was beautiful. The staff was friendly and told us the directions to get there and even brought guest to the other side of the lake that couldnt walk. It is a little far of a drive from Vancouver, but it is a beautiful drive, I must say. Plenty of room for the kiddos to run around. Well...they took out the maze that I remember as a kid, that is a shame. They have a heated outdoor pool, but the seperation between the shallow & deep end can be very slippery!! Beautiful scenery. I was meeting a friend and was worried that we wouldn't be able to find each other but the set up was such that it was not a big deal. Had my 10-year-old granddaughter's birthday here. Reserved a party area at no cost. When we got there everything was clean and set up, beautiful view of the park area. The entrance fee is reasonable and once paid you can then swim, play miniature golf, go on the paddleboats, go to the bouncy houses, ride the train and play any number of sports in the field without extra cost. The venue is extremely tidy and clean. There is a lot of youth working there but they are very courteous. We had a marvelous time and will be returning. read more

I stumbled upon this park through a friend's recommendation and it was such a great find! As a mom of two wild little ones, I'm always looking for new ways to keep them entertained. We came on a day that was open to the public without realizing that they are usually closed for special events of functions. The afternoon that we spent there, there were 2 giant bounce houses, including an obstacle course that kept my little kids entertained for hours. The large grass area in the center of the park is perfect for picnics or to let the kiddos roll around endlessly til they can't stand up anymore. Normally there is also a petting zoo, but because we came at the last of the summer season, the animals were not available. The pirate ship and nearby playground was also a huge hit! I would definitely be back again on a public day and recommend it to other families. read more

Would I ever hold another event at alderbrook? No. Would I recommend alderbrook to anyone else? Never. Promises were made to get our business and then quickly forgotten. Save your money and hold your event anywhere but here. They promised carts to shuttle us during the day. They weren't available. No hot water or towels in the brides house. No water in the groom's house. We had to leave out venues decorated while 1000 people were wandering through the park. The bathrooms were filthy and lights were burned out. At the end of the night they came and stood around while we cleared up. No lighting was offered to get from the venue to our cars. Half mile from venue to bride/groom's houses. No help offered to get back and forth in the dark I was very dissapointed considering what they charged. read more

We went to Alderbrook on Labor Day weekend. I hadn't been in years and we took my partner's 5 year old. We had a great time. We brought in our own picnic basket. There were plenty of things to do and we found a great picnic spot. They have a lemonade fountain, corn hole, bounce house, swimming pool, and volleyball net. We rode on the pedal boats and played mini golf. The boats were great fun and the mini golf was okay. The course had some spots that didn't have barriers so if you weren't a good shot, your ball could go of course. I also found it annoying that even though the sign says that kids need to be accompanied by an adult, they weren't. The most disappointing thing was the pirate ship. Stay off of it. The decking is mostly made of chip board and it's full of rot. They did some terrible patch work, but some parts still felt like you could fall right through. The price nearly scared me away, but it's not far from home and there were plenty of things to do. We'll likely go back next summer. read more

Great!!!! Brought my kids and an extra one on their public days. It was over 100 in town, but didn't feel like their. First time here and we will be back. Public days were $10 a person. It included the pool, paddle boats, everything! Which made our day filled, and worth it. The bounce houses were better than your average. $10 a kid is a cheap price to pay to keep kids off of video games & other electronics and complaint free for the day in summer We will be back! We went here for a preschool field trip for their Harvest Days festival. Good variety of things to do for the price. I really like the fact that you are on your own when you are here no need to feel rushed, do things at your own pace. Alderbrook is such a hidden gem! It's tucked away outside of Brush Prairie but it's such a fun place to come and spend the day. They have a snack shack for quick grab and go snow cones and other snacks, but my personal favorite is the cafe. They have handcrafted espresso beverages, beer and wine, and the best dang French fries EVER. You can take some paddle boats out on their lake, or spend the day by the pool. It's lovely as they have a shallow kiddy pool and a deeper area for kids a bit older. They have some short hiking trails too, haven't really checked them out but I've heard great things. All around a great place to come for a summer day, I just wish they were open longer!! read more

This park is absolutely amazing. We went on an overcast day when it was around 60 degrees. There were 7 kids in our group (ages 1 - 8) and we all had the best time. The kids were so happy playing in the bounce houses, pirate ship, playgrounds and fields. They swam in the pool even though it wasn't particularly warm and we all had fun riding in the paddle boats. I love that they don't nickel and dime you for the activities. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was great for the setting (ribs, BBQ pork sliders, burgers, dogs, mac n cheese, etc...). The kids ran and ran and ran some more and all fell asleep on the way home. I highly recommend this park for families. read more

We booked this park a year ago for our daughter and son in law's wedding. When looking for venues they fell in love with Alderbrook. Not only the park but the way they as young adults were treated. Over the past year we have had several meetings, emails and telephone calls to prepare for the wedding. Cindy and all of her staff were amazing. Like all big events when you are planing, things can and do go wrong.... however no worries here. Cindy worked magic and made things even better than we planned. The venue is not cheap, but it is well worth it! If you are looking at having a beautiful outdoor venue make sure you take the time to check out Alderbrook. Everyone of our guests loved it as well. To sum up how great Alderbrook was, the bride (our daughter) said the day went exactly as she thought it would go... Thank you Cindy and staff for all your hard work. The highlights of the park are the petting zoo and the paddle boats. I went during summer and while the pond was too shallow (we kept getting our paddle boats stuck), there were so many dragonflies out that day on the water. It was beautiful! At the petting zoo they had the cutest donkey. Loved it. Besides that, there wasn't a lot that drew me to the park. It is quite a drive from where I live, so I find it hard to come back. read more

Acted like holding any event would be an inconvenience and annoyed by any and all questions. How he got his job is beyond me. read more

It was a hot day and we were looking for something new to do. I have lived in Vancouver my whole life but never knew about this park. My nephew (3) and niece (1.5) loved every second of the pool, picnic, boat, fish, and bounce house. We would have done "all the things" had we not run out of time. My husband, sister and I also enjoyed our time here. Definitely a great place for kids and an enjoyable time for adults as well. We will return. read more

You are second to none in the Portland area for providing such a idyllic setting for the sport and spectators. We really appreciate it. I was SO surprised to get such a good quality burger (most places just give you the basic minimum - my burger was great!) and am still in partial shock that the staff were so happy and such a pleasure to order from. It's a fun park, although there is not that much to do when it's not sunny and hot. I do love playing there, but the food is terrible. My burger was falling apart and the fries had to much seasoning. There is great potential for amazing food though. The pool is always incredibly cold! They should heat the water in my opinion. I get it's supposed to be refreshing, but freezing and refreshing are a lot different. I love feeding the fish, they are sooo fun to watch them eat the food! They are sooo cute! The mini gold was ok. There should be a separate station from the snack shack for returning and getting clubs and golf balls. It is themed after the Oregon trail, although I do not see anything related to the trail other than a display wagon separate on the other side. The cafe atmosphere was good, but the food is not. I'm sure there is something delicious in the menu but I haven't found it. A must do for my kids every summer. We can spend the whole afternoon here and all ages have fun. Simple, outdoor fun. All activities are included in entry fee. My kids ages 8-15 enjoyed miniature golf, pink lemonade fountain, swimming, paddle boats, bounce houses, wide open fields for ultimate frisbee and sand volleyball. I feel comfortable letting my kids explore here with friends. I keep an extra eye on them when they're in the pool or paddle boats but there are lifeguards and staff for backup. They have a snack bar and on site cafe but they do allow you to bring outside food and drink! Great for a family. We went in with our homeschool group and had a great time. read more

DO NOT HOST A WEDDING HERE. I was considering this place as a venue for my wedding. After my friends wedding this weekend, it won't happen. Here is why: The bride and groom were promised they'd be the only event/people there. They weren't. The bride and groom arrived an hour late- nothing was ready. The houses didn't have toilet paper, stuff like that. The bride and groom were having people camp overnight - they discussed this with the venue before. When they arrived, they were told that there wasn't camping and if there was it would be an additional $500. The bride had an image in her head if where she wanted everything. The staff had another idea and changed everything around on her. The staff WAS STEALING THEIR ALCOHOL. The bride caught them stealing wine for themselves. We asked if everything had to be taken down right away or if it could wait til morning. They said as long as we were out by 11, it didn't matter. In the morning, they were berated with questions about why it hadn't been cleaned up. We were also told that there were no parties allowed in the houses. They threatened that if everyone wasn't gone by 11, they would lock everyone in. This place did not care that there was a wedding. They didn't attempt to take special consideration that the bride was probably already stressed enough, and they just added more. If you want a smooth wedding, don't do it here. Unnecessary stress was added on the bride and groom and although we had fun, when we left the bride was not looking forward to having to go through a walkthrough to fight for her deposit back. I don't suggest this place to anybody. STAY AWAY AND LOOK FOR ANOTHER VENUE. read more

Pro's : Nice remote wooded area, clearing, large open space in the middle, pool,This place has a ton of amenities available: Outdoor pool Paddle Boats, a Petting Zoo, Miniature Golf Course,hiking trails. Water fountain that serves lemonade. They have added port-a-potties. Which is an improvement over the conditions of their rundown park restrooms. This place would be great for one of those outdoor music festivals. Con's: Short of staff!!! Our organizations picnic was a disaster. They didn't have enough food or staff to cover the couple of thousand ticketed attendees and their gluttonous families. The hot dog station. I had to wait in line for 45 minutes for 2 hot dogs because the attendants were disorganized and let people walk away with a pyramid of 12-20 hot dogs at a time. I am not exaggerating here. What happened to 2 per ticket? Ridiculous really. They need to regulate this a lot better. If one didn't get in line for lunch right at 12 noon there would be no food left. If they feature the buffet 3.5 hours, why don't they serve the lunch in groups? Last names A-J go at 11:30. K-R 12:30 S-Z go at 1:30? color code the tickets. Put a stop to this selfish free for all, cut in line garbage that has gone on two years in a row now. Not the cluster flip we just experienced. Do something. The baked beans were cold, the potato salad was undercooked and the mustard and mayo was not blended well. They had no meat out and just 5 veggie burgers with no buns and no fixings. The whole buffet looked like a tornado of monkeys went through. An hour later they brought out a tray of beef in which everyone pounced on and it was gone in seconds. I don't blame the staff because there was not enough of them to blame. They looked stressed out and fed up. A bunch of young adults with a deer in headlights look about them. Overwhelmed. No one to clear and clean the tables. The organization would have been better off renting out the park and everyone bring a potluck friendly covered dish. Obviously they don't have the staff or catering experience to handle a crowd of a couple thousand. Why keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results? Many of the wooden structures are rotten and need replaced. The only good thing about this year is that it was not infested with yellow jackets. read more
