When putting together a Weekly Yelp on fun things to do in the city, I spotted Mohamade A's review of this place and bookmarked it for something new to do on a Sunday. After a mad Friday night and busy Saturday, I just wanted to get out of house and do something fun (but not too intensive). Mini golf seemed to be the perfect low energy, silly activity for me and Dan to enjoy. First thing to note, Star City can be accessed by bus but offers plentiful free parking if you plan on driving. I haven't been here in a few years and was surprised to see quite a few newer businesses here (including at least a couple of independents). Adventure Island is at the front of the building and easy to spot with it's clear signage. As we had to get to the supermarket before it closed (ROCK'N'ROLL), we opted to do 18 holes instead of the full course. There are two different courses to choose from and you can do one for £6.45, the full 36 for £10.95 or there are combo deals for bowling and lazer tag as well. We decided on the "Lost Hut Trail" and off we went! Thus proceeded 45 minutes of frustration, fun and giggles around the course. In retrospect, we wish we had done both or opted for the "Hidden Cove" course (which boasts a volcano in the middle), but we will be back to try this at some point. It's of note that the venue has a bar (for golf/beer times) and does a 2-4-1 offer on a Wednesday. It would make a fun place for a date or a birthday party. Yeah, it's not high brow entertainment... but if you want to challenge someone to a duel - there are worse ways than with a miniture putter and a brightly coloured plastic ball. Recommended.

There's also plenty of room for the circuits in the aerobics room. (I do Claire's circuits - you do the same if you want to get trained hard!) There's loads of outdoor space. There's the Wolverhampton indoor football training facility, outdoor grass football pitches, outdoor astro football pitches, tennis courts, cycle track, running track and a field in the middle of that for everything else! There's probably a lot more that I'm forgetting, too! No swimming pool though. Plenty of places to park.

Over the years it has expanded to not only fit in with the times, but to adapt to every need possible. The leisure centre has much to offer such as two swimming pools; one large one for adults and a smaller one for children and teaching swimming lessons. Also within the centre is a large sports hall for football fanatics for 5 a side football as well as badminton, basketball and many other activities. The fitness suite is brilliant. Its all brand new and up to date and has over 100 stations and its nice and cool to so you don't get too warm when your working them muscles! Outside they have a fantastic synthetic turf ground for 6 a side football which is popular with many people. Not only that but they have dance studios, squash courts, spas, saunas and a relaxation area!! It is amazing. If you are looking to get fit or just want to participate in salsa classes or boxercise, Copley Recreation Centre is an ideal place to start whilst not breaking the bank.

I tend to use the dance studio for a wide range of aerobics classes which include step, swiss ball, ballet fit and yoga amongst others. I currently pay 42 pounds for a monthly membership for my husband and I, which is quite reasonable - you can also pay as you go. My husband uses the gym facility which has recently been refurbished and finds it of a high standard. The aerobics instructors are very good and will try to vary the class to suit each ability. There is also a creche during weekday mornings - it costs 2 pound for a hour and includes a snack - my son went once and had a great time. Also has squash courts and run classes for children, including gymnastics. Downside is queues for tickets - maximum of 2 members of staff on till at any one time, floors need to be brushed more often and could use with a lick of paint.

The changing rooms are great with decent sized lockers. The gym here is brilliant. The staff are really motivating and friendly, and always on hand to give advice if you need it. They also make sure you don't feel intimidated by the body building types. There is loads of equipment and loads of running machines means I've never had to wait to use one yet. The brand new pool is lovely! Very clean and modern. If you're going to use the facilities here regularly I'd recommend becoming a member. It's very good value for money, for about £30 monthly you get unlimited use of the facilities and classes on offer, and you can use your membership at the Ri0pley Center too!

The atmosphere definitely has a local friendly feel and there are always familiar faces that obviously treat the bar as very much their substitute for their local pub. Any why not? Beer is reasonably priced and the staff are always friendly and chatty. The centre runs entertainment programmes and normally has some form of music act or personality on over the weekend nights in particular. Details of these can be found advertised on the premises or I am sure you can call them to find out what is on. For me personally it is a place to head down to on a Sunday afternoon to watch the afternoon football and enjoy a quiet sociable pint amongst easy going people in a nice community type atmosphere.
