I would guess that it aims to provide a place for the public to fulfil their leisure requirements, with decent equipment available, a good selection of classes, served by good staff and all reasonably priced. With the above in mind I can not fault Carlton Forum. I moved to the gym in here from a more expensive National Chain, for the simple reason that I needed to save a few quid where possible. Having ditched my £65 per month subs at the previous gym I am now paying £31 per month at Carlton Forum. So what have I lost for the £34 per month I now get to keep in my pocket??? Well the luxury definitely, the nice plush sofas, a receptionist with a perfect smile and model looks etc etc. But in terms of the need it intends to fulfil - that of keeping fit - absolutely nothing! Carlton Forum provides access to all the equipment I need to carry out my regimes exactly as before and the atmosphere is less pretentious than the previous place, giving a more communal and relaxed feeling when you finally pluck up the courage to visit the gym. Obviously there are a wide range of things on offer beyond that of just the gym. Swimming, tennis, football, badminton, exercise classes, spinning classes, squash etc etc. So there really should be something for everyone.

The Hermitage leisure centre is the main public leisure centre in North West Leicestershire. There…read moreis also a similar sized leisure centre in Ashby-De-La-Zouch, but in my opinion the Hermitage offers a better experience than the Ashby alternative. The leisure centre offers all the usual services you woul expect to be offered; including an excellent indoor swimming pool. In addition, there is a large sports hall for indoor football, badminton and other regular activities such as Karate and table tennis. Upstairs is a modern 'techno gym' which has a good balance between cardio and weights. My personal favourite thing about the leisure centre is the squash courts. They are all enclosed, which means the ball can not go out of the court over the top of the glass; many other courts at leisure centres in the region have open designs, which is incredibly frustrating. The leisure centre also runs many programs whatever your need and age: from high intensity aerobic workouts, to tai- chi. The leisure centre also owns a large portion of land adjacent to it and has a number of open football pitches, an astroturf for football and hockey as well as a fairly large fishing lake. Finally, it operates a 9-hole golf course which is well maintaned and challenging! Price wise, as it is operated by the council, the prices are better or as good as you would find at a commercially run gym/fitness centre.

The kids get to play and then they go into a seperate room for some party food. They then let the birthday boy/girl paint their hand and print it on the wall which i think is a loverly idea. The staff are also realy friendly and helpfull which is good. overall this is a great to take board kids somewere on a rainy day to run of there energy and also to have a no hassle birthday party for them.

There are activities to suit most age groups, although the toddler area does tend to attract older kids as well. The staff are helpful, friendly and pleasant, and the food is quick to arrive, the only problem is getting the kids to come and sit down to eat it! The prices are reasonable, and are probably below the average cost for soft play. The car parking is awkward as the venue is on an industrial area, and there are only a handful of parking places allocated to Playmania.

It is quite inexpensive though and that's what makes up for the cons.

For the Laser Tag parties, I would avoid at every cost…read more We had a party back in October and from the very start was a disaster. Upon arrival, despite arriving on the agreed time, we were told to go and wait in a side room and await a member of staff. 30mins later with 14x bored 9yrs children and many trips to reception, I walked to the laser tag to ask the staff there who asked to wait in the corridor for another 15mins. Eventually we got started, the room had not been cleared from the last party, the member staff proceeded to tell the children he was ill and nearly passed out twice and after a short pre-brief, sent them in and then sat in the corner of the room leaving myself and wife to clear up. During the game, half the children came back with guns not working, but it was left to myself and my wife to find new guns and put the others back on charge. After the game we went down stairs to be told that despite already being 45mins late, there would be a further 30mins delay on the food. After much chasing this end up being 40mins, and by the time the food arrived, the parents had come to collect the children. To top it all off, they managed to miss 1 child completely on the food. We complained to the manager who explained that they were short staff but any complaints would need to go to HQ. After chasing for 2mths we had an offer another laser tag game for the children, which given the location and the logistics of sorting 14 children was not practical, and we instead asked for a partial or full refund. We are now in early January and despite chasing many times for a response, we have heard no more. Annoyingly you pay a premium for a party like this to take away stress as parents, but it was anything but. Although I accept they were short staffed, you have to prebook the parties so no how many people to expect so would expect better planning. Plus the appalling after care service would mean I would never use nay TEN PIN again, as clearly the customer is not the priority. Very disappointing.
